Can we talk about the TIMING ? I’ve been waiting for an anti-romantic edit since they released it, especially a chill and calm one. I’ve been having hard time with exams and family stuff recently, and just wanted a break at night when I’d listen to this kind of edit. It means much more than you can imagine, thank you sooo much for this ! Keep up the good work. :)

Aaaaaa i can't help but write stories everytime joonpiter posts so enjoy another small one :) I can't believe I ever used to enjoy the rain. With my shoes wet, socks soaked, and entire body shaking from the cold, my mind can't help but store away this memory once more as another negative event in the rain. When thinking back to the hour I spent into my make-up and clothing today, my hands automatically curl into fists out of frustration and I let out a large sigh from fatigue. "He's going to be great," my friend had said. "I think you two will be extremely compatible." I subconsciously roll my eyes. Compatible my ass. If showing up late and clearly standing me up was more important to this guy, then I don't know how much more of an impression I would need to make my judgement. The thin jacket I'm wearing over my dress isn't nearly enough to combat the cold. My patience finally having frayed thin, I spot a small bar on the other side of the street, its sign outlined in neon red. Steps are slow and heavy as I walk across, making wet sounds in the water on the ground. With each step forward, my shoes only soak in more water, and my teeth start to chatter as the rain relentlessly pellets down onto me. Maybe a part of me is desperate enough to think that the situation I'm in isn't nearly as bad. Whatever the reason, I call the guy one more time, giving him one more chance, and the line starts to ring. When he doesn't pick up once more, I'm unsure if I'm happy or glad. Finally, I reach the entrance to the bar, my hair and dress now clearly wet from the crying sky. I ring out my hair once before stepping in. Immediately, I'm surrounded by the warmth of the bar, the mysterious, red lighting somehow adding to the ambivalent ambience; it can't decide if it should be hopeless or romantic. Two girls sit at the bar, while another guy sits alone in a booth in the corner. Other than the three, the bar is quiet. Until it's not. To the right, five men joke around on a small stage as they set up the sound system. In this lighting, it's hard to make out their features, but their loud voices and playful teasing are clearly audible. Above me, a bell rings as I open the door and enter, and two of the men greet me through their mics. With a grim smile, I bow hastily before taking a seat in the middle of the bar, directly in front of them. I had no plans for the rest of the night. I might as well spend it listening to whatever they were going to sing. One of the men starts to sing into the mic, warming up his vocals. From the two lines alone, my heartbeat picks up, unused to listening to a voice with evident raw talent and potential in person. Goosebumps rise along my arm even after he's done singing, and I shift in my seat, eagerly anticipating a full performance. Finally, they begin, and I'm lifted up, far away, to somewhere else. To a place of sorrow and longing. A place of wishful thinking and unsaid apologies. A place of regrets and repressed hopes. A place for the denying hopefuls. I'm taken back to years prior in my life, when I was in happy relationships and believed in true love. I'm taken to when I had looked up to my parents and the utter love they held for each other, wanting the same for my own life, and truly believing that one day, I would get it. But as the men continue singing, the timeline moves forward, and break-ups unfold before my eyes. Lies, deception, cheating, distrust. Everything I was afraid of became my reality. And I watch my memories, watching as my heart grew a little more guarded. Watching as the walls grew a little higher, a little thicker. With the rise of emotions, slow, ethereal singing in the background, and the accumalated atmosphere of the bar, tears start to rise up and fall down my cheeks. "Sorry I'm an anti-romantic." Something about that line...something about that line made it seem romantic. But what? Why did it sound like it was coming from the opposite of someone heartless? Because it was coming from someone that used to believe in love. It was coming from someone that used to believe in chocolates on Valentine's Day and flowers on anniversaries. It was coming from someone that no longer had hope for their future, or belief in the reality of love. Someone that had been utterly broken and defeated. And maybe, deep down, that person still wanted to believe. Maybe, deep down, that person was still secretly hoping they would find someone to love them as much as they loved themselves. As much as they loved others. Every emotion from the past few years, all the damage that had built up, rises, and tears continue to flow down my cheeks. The five men continue to sing beautifully, and the rain continues to pour outside. The bartender pours a drink for me, and I grab it, taking a sip immediately. Alcohol buzzes through my veins and I force myself to shut out my thoughts, only focusing on the singing and slow music. Soon, the song is over, and the small audience claps while the men bow and wave goodbye. I let out a small sigh, a final expression of my thoughts. Just then, my phone dings, and I look down at the text: "i have other plans tonight so i can't make it, sorry. rain check?" "Asshole," I mutter under my breath, wiping away my tears as I type out my response: "Who's this?" I tilt back the last of my drink and down the rest of the strong liquid, forcing myself to swallow any tears and hopes along with it.
