How could you not love Sakimoto's arrthymic sense of form? He's seemingly always turning the tables to bring you to higher highs. Thank you for giving us another fine standard of interpretation.
I don't think I've ever liked and subbed so fast in my life! Not only is your talent, just, breathtaking, but your thoughtfulness in your compositions is straight-up palpable. "Nostalgia" takes on a whole new meaning when I listen to these arrangements because I feel like I'm not just going down memory lane, but like thinking about these stories and meanings through the lens of a real adult who's experienced actual love, pain, and loss. You're super rad! Thank you for your dedication to your craft! Your work made my life better, no lie!
Thank you so much for the kind words omg!! That truly means a lot to me, as these games, their stories and characters really resonated with me when I was young and stayed with me throughout the years, and it makes me so happy to interact with others who feel the same way. Thank you so much again!!!!
thank you so much!!!!!! haha I can think of many others more deserving of views than me, I am grateful for anyone who comes by to listen, so thank you again!
Piano senpai returns!! So happy to see you doing well and still able to work on music. It was such a joy to see you post this up today. I know whenever you release that album I'll be listening to it on repeat for a week! Truthfully, you're an amazing musician and I'm so happy you're sharing your gift to us all. I can definitely hear the impressionistic tones here and they really lend themselves well to Sakimoto's work. And with all of the arrangement you do, I think you're good to liken yourself to Debussy and Ravel. Remember, they were just musicians as well who have had time to cement themselves in musical history. Maybe we'll be studying about PurpleSchala in music theory classes in the next 150-200 years. :) Please stay safe, stay healthy, and keep smiling during these crazy times. I know music has been a huge outlet for me lately as well (I even put up some music on my channel!) so let's keep making the world a better place by lending our musical voices during this period of darkness. *inspirational* Best wishes from a longtime fan, Antonio
This is one of my absolutely favorite pieces because of that rising key change sequence that builds up in intensity while still remaining a gentle song overall. 📖💫⭐️
Wow. Just wow. I've always loved Antidote and your arrangement and performance just brought me to tears. It's absolutely stunning. Beautiful! Olan would be proud!!
LMAO andrew i realized later how much that intro was sounding like My Quiet Forest Home from Octopath and was like....oops well there's that hahaha. the one i just finished writing after this one is me at my peak masochism, you would be proud OTL
I like the intensity and richness of your rendition. The crescendo and then the fading out towards the end give the piece a nice dynamic feel, in my opinion.
Amazing. I have heard these tracks so many times and I always think I know how it might sound when arranged for piano, and yet I'm consistently surprised and impressed by your work. As always, thank you!
thank you so much Harold!! that really means a lot! =) arranging Sakimoto for piano is brain bruising for sure but it's so rewarding hahaha, plus I just love his music and FFT so much.
I've been waiting a long time for you to do this piece. It might be my favorite in the entire game. Figured it would be a hard one to arrange, and your description confirms that. Amazing job, Schala.
Wait! Wha?! What's that blue thing there? Oh! It's just another lit up like button on your videos. My heart starts beating fast every new upload but FFT upload... It's like happiness overload.
@@purpleschala you're the only piano cover I know of, but there are plenty of decent digital remixes out there of varying quality. Your performance is top easily imo!
You and friends should book an evening at the Shaffer Center here in town. Swear I would be front center. I'd pay to see this. Remarkable. Do you have merch, dvds and what not
I am always fascinated by amazing piano players like yourself! I have a huge respect for being able to do this cause I can't do it myself for the life of me even if I tried lol! :)
"God Stone bearer, with me now do treat". I may not be literate enough in music to evaluate how this compares to Ravel or Debussy. I am barely literate enough to know what an arpeggio is. But I know what I like, and I like this. I have been enjoying all your Final Fantasy Tactics piano versions, ever since you started this long journey, and I probably showered justified praise on every single one of them. I was tempted to say this was my favorite so far - but then I took the time to listen to the playlist again, and I cannot do it. So many pieces I hold dear - such as Ovelia's Worries, Under the Stars/Delita's Theme, and particularly Hero's Theme. No, the prize here is the collection. Good to know that it is still incomplete. I am very curious to see how you will handle Apoplexy. You may be wondering, what does that quote at the top of this comment have to do with my ramblings? On my first playthrough, when I was too eager to see the events unfold and didn't use as much time to grind some levels as I probably should have, Velius was by far the most difficult fight. Took me probably a few dozen attempts and multiple different approaches to get right. I still remember that strategy vividly, more than two decades later - placing a dancer on the corner of the map, away from all the enemies, while the other four heroes just stayed alive until Slow Dance chipped away all the possible speed from Velius and his minions. Apoplexy may be your Velius, the most difficult fight on this journey :D "God stone bearer, with me now do treat", as he said to a dying Wiegraf outside of Orbonne Monastery. The good thing about difficult fights is that you end up remembering them decades later.
I always appreciate your commentary so much, and it makes me so happy you enjoyed this one as much as the other ones, thank you so much!!! (a lot of the other ones from the past are actually getting a rehaul lol, i will def be re-recording Ovelia's Theme and a new version of Under the Stars, because i can do so much better now than when I first started this project!!!!) Wiegraf/Velius was also the fight where i nearly had to restart the game lol, but then again, as a friend recently put it, did you REALLY play FFT if you came into that fight woefully underprepared!??! the difficulty spike was just insane! I'm trying to remember what i did the first time through. I might have gotten lucky with a well-placed Leviathan lol but it definitely took at least ten times, also squeaking past Wiegraf on the first round took years off my life lol. It wasn't until subsequent playthroughs when I realized stats could stack, and getting the party's speed up with Ramza's Yell made a huge difference. That and grinding at Zeklaus Desert hahaha. I did indeed write a doozy for myself for Apoplexy and hope you'll like that one too! It is...quite wild and i hope i can pull it off haha! hope you have been well during these unprecedented times.
I'm always up to listen to them again. I wouldn't be surprised if I alone added a couple of zeroes to the views on those ones, to be frank. If you say you can do even better, I'm certainly not one to doubt. That's not to say I don't appreciate your other material - I just skipped all your three houses videos because I just bought that game and I'll be playing it in the near future, I want to see them being opinionated on the soundtrack. I am sometimes a strangely methodical man, lol. On other subjects, I've been fine for the most part, only busier than usual, thanks for asking. Likewise, I hope you and yours are doing fine as well. Seeing your videos warms my heart that it signals that these unprecedented times - as you so aptly put - at least didn't dent your creative power.
Apoplexy is next after Delita's Theme! =) it will be a while though lol i made Apoplexy EXTREMELY difficult *sobs forever* but hopefully it will be worth it!
After reading your liner notes and reflecting I can totally see how this would be one of the most difficult pieces of the OST to adapt. I think it's incredible - and you got the arpeggios in during the most important part at 1:10-1:25 and its refrain
Always enjoy your videos. Coming back to this again, I realize that one of the rhythmic motifs in this work is clearly present in “A Chapel.” I have no idea how I missed this connection! With any other composer I would think it a coincidence, but Sakimoto is an absolute master of motif. It’s a testament to his prowess that you can keep finding these little easter eggs in his OSTs years later.
OMG thank you so much!!! And yes! Not only Sakimoto but Hamauzu, Shimomura, and Uematsu as well also weave and transform the main themes and motives throughout their OSTs, and it's always fun picking them out!!!
This looks and sounds like a difficult piece. You're getting better technically and it shows. I like the full stops and tempo changes, they really bring a dramatic flair to this piece. Thanks for your effort, always a pleasure.
awww thank you so much!! if you ever wanted to give it a go it's on mobile devices and PSP, sadly still has not made it to modern consoles but I am still hoping one day LMAO! it can get more intense gameplay-wise than Fire Emblem, but the story and and music and combat are some of the finest ever, even to this day
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! totally understandable, you have to like that grindy strategy RPG stuff hahaha, thank you so much for listening, that really means a lot.
I saw a notification pop up and immediately knew what was coming and HOLY MOLY. Thank you so much for making this! Going to repeat the hell out of it. Seriously, where's the "take my money" button?
You did it XD this is one of my 2 fav soundtrack from FF Tactics.^^ And jesus i didn't expect it to be so hard to play O_o or at least it look hard to me. ^^ Great job :D The world is full of people with no taste :O you deserve a couple zeros more in the views and likes. Where are all FFT fans?! XD
awww thank you so much!!!!! and yes hahaha it was quite hard and definitely required a lot of finesse practicing but i am a better pianist for it hahaha!! i'm so glad you liked it! And numbers really don't matter to me, i am just happy to connect with all of my fellow FFT fans who love the game as much as i do and felt it deserves much better than it has gotten (like a port to modern consoles and an official piano collections!!!)
Wow, this Antidote was simply astounding! It was my favorite track, and Olan was my favorite character. Childhood me was always obsessing over how OP Galaxy Stop was, lol. Great work, again!
oh man Galaxy Stop was RIDICULOUS. And thank you so much! I always it was so cool how Olan was the only reason Ramza is remembered in Ivalice history since he witnessed it all.
Fantastic. This is one of my favorite songs in the soundtrack and would never have guessed it was possible to play solo. I agree with the Debussy comment. Thank you!
One step closer to FFT Piano Collections being complete. It makes me think... what will my life's purpose be when it's finished? Pushing for the SoTN album of course. As always, love everything you do and thank you so much for how much real effort and practice you put into each track for this game.
LMAO! for real though, thank you for pushing me on the Tactics stuff and please continue to bug the hell out of me for SOTN as well, it helps keep my procrastination at bay hahahaha. it also means so much to know the FFT and SOTN community likes my stuff!!! so thank you!!!
my standpoint comes from not having heard the original (nor played FFT at all) but enjoying sakimoto: it sounds awesome and very well translated as a decontextualized piece! I personally think that adding french impressionistic bits is never enough hahaha I feel like you've been gone from my feed for a while, so welcome back? a thank you for this lol
YES! FFT, my favorite Final Fantasy to date, along with FF4 :) Its so nice to hear you play this. My favorite tracks from FFT would be "Under the Stars", "Remnants" and "Apoplexy", such good music from H. Sakimoto.
I LOVE ALL OF THOSE THEMES SO MUCH! and his Tactics OST is one of my favorites ever, after the Vagrant Story OST, Sakimoto is my favorite vgm composer ever!!!
@@WastedTalent83 I WOULD LOVE to cover more Xenogears. That game is so near and dear to me and Mitsuda wrote so many emotional and awesome themes for it!
@@purpleschala Xenoblade Chronicles plz :D I loved Yasunori Mitsuda's work in Chrono Cross, such memorable tracks I'll never forget... Another Termina, Chronomantique, Dramwatch of Time, etc.
Not really familiar with Final Fantasy’s music, but great job regardless! Sounds amazing! Nice to hear you’re still working hard! Hope you’re doing well!
Fellow musician chiming in here, and let me say, that although I'm a drummer, and realize that our compositions are a bit of a different beast, I totally understand your hemming and hawing and want to make the song absolutely perfect, but let me tell you... You absolutely killed it! I love this cover!
thank you so much, i'm so glad you understand hahaha! it's just always gonna be a work in progress no matter what lol, that's life I guess. Thank you for the encouragement, i really appreciate it!!
I AM BACK TO TELL YOU THAT I STILL LOVE YOU AFTER ALL THIS TIME. SURPRISE I'M BAAAAAACK. :D This arrangement gave me goosebumps like you can't believe. Every time you cover a FFT song, a cute, fat angel kitten gets its wings and lots of catnip. So thank you for saving the angel kittens. And for making my life better with your beautiful piano work. YAY PURPLESCHALA
Not gonna lie- chills down my spine and wet eyes. This is the real Antidote nowadays! Happy to see those labors of love after a pause:) some thing have to grow up on their own :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH BARTEK!!!! as you too also love Ivalice I am so glad you like my rendition!!!! And you're so right regarding this one, that is the perfect way to put it in terms of growing on its own. i wish it hadn't taken as long as it did but it was necessary!! I hope you are doing well! =)
@@purpleschala I am always flattered when you respond to me 😳 do You know amazing work of H. Sakimoto named "Dragon's Crown Orchestral OST" ? Track 04. "Town" is otherworldly, as whole game.
purpleschala No! I have watched a few of your videos already, I genuinely mean it...your version of these songs is incredible. I’m a huge fan of Chopin, if you ever get a chance can you maybe play Nocturnes, Op. 9: No. 2? No rush and if not that’s ok 😊
