Chat does meme on Preach a lot, it's all just bants. I agree the game could be more clear about the Antiquarian passive ability, but it is 100% on the player for not at least trying it out. Like the rest of the game, you don't find out if you don't fuck around...

@@daze4135 To be fair, he did try them out, but you need some experience, to notice the differences. At the start of the game it isn't obvious, that you get these extra items or your gold stacks higher because you have this relative weaker character type in your team.

These streamers tend to miss a lot with their attention required to be split on chat the stream, and the game all at the same time. Like blowing off the jester for not seeing he can move himself to the front row cuz he didn't read the skills. Or not noticing the extra items he was looting while the antiquarian was in his party the first time. Preaches streams are really entertaining because of this tho. Props for including the chat in this journey. Love this game and will be here for it.

He is starting to figure things out now that every character and biome has an interaction in some way.

Rush cartographers tent. Its the single most impactful upgrade you can get. It says "boosts the effects of light level", thats misleading. What it actually does is give you a permanent, all situations boost to every single stat that can be altered by light level, regardless of what the light level is. At high light, you hit better, dodge better, scout better, etc. At low light, you get more loot. With the tent, you hit better, dodge better, scout better, get more loot, and every other beneficial light effect, no matter what the light level is. Its essentially a massive global luck boost. its painful to play without it once you have it.

Even if that's the case, every class tells you what it can do in its abilities. The Antiquarian's passives are so vitally important to what makes it strong, that they should be told. I mean no other class has passives, that's how strange it is. And in Darkest Dungeon, where you invest in characters, you don't want to necessarily sac a run to experiment with something new.

Some of the DLC characters have hidden stuff that aren't on their character sheet either. For how up front this game is with stats, it is wierd that it has these hidden passives, that you have to basicly google or figure out.

@@sauceinmyface9302 experimenting with new stuff happens all the time in the game, the Antiquarian is the only thing that Preach never tried despite trying almost everything else; testing items on curios, no torch runs, class stacking, finding out what the provision items do, looking into camping skills, etc.

@rickmel09 "relating to or *_dealing in antiques_* or rare books" So yes, antiquarian literally means "antiques dealer". Rare books also count, and that's why Aziraphale in Good Omens calls himself an antiquarian.

@rickmel09 They don't "materialize" items, the lore is they recognize them as valuable antiques. You know, those things most people would think was junk while walking through ruins. In fact, Antiquarians _suck_ for Cove runs (unless they're decently leveled) because it has the fewest treasure-giving curios. You need to shut up and look up what the hell an antique is before you embarrass yourself further. Stop bitching because some RU-vidr didn't think his way through something and is embarrassed for missing something obvious.
