Very fine work Jay! She’s a beauty! I’m going to have to look into that grinding/polishing disk you used. You have excellent skills!

Thanks John! The patina was amazing, I was originally going to make her smooth again but I decided to leave it!

Awesome - I need to put one of my clamps outside. I love the straw technique for the BLO.

It’s sooooo much easier instead of trying to pour it out all over your gloves! Yes I can make a video itself of how much I use that outdoor vice! Matter of fact I prob will! Lol

What year would you think this axe head was made? I bought the same one from a goodwill for 3.00$. Just stumbled upon your video and realized I had the same one and couldn’t believe I almost angle grinded the edge

Kaitlyn, Thanks for watching! Hope you liked it! I am unsure of the age. Axes are tough to tell age because there normally isnt a stamped manufacture date on them. Often companies make the same axe for years and you just dont know, sometimes you can get a an age range from forums . I am unsure of the age but its deff older I would say pre 90's due to the steel. Older steel is often better (Back when the USA made steel lol) DONT use an angle grinder on the cutting edge!!!! The steel in tempered and the heat and aggressiveness from the angle grinder will ruin the steel! Get a new metal bastard file and a lansky stone (puck) and thats really all you need. The angle grinder can be used for the BACK of the axe head if theres any mushrooming but other than that I wouldnt use it on the front! Please subscribe to my channel!

Nice job, what kind of handle did you use ? Where did you buy it ? One from the local Lowe’s is too narrow
