An elevated turntable (like those used by bakers in decorating cakes) could display these music boxes more visibly. I appreciate all you do to show these previous music boxes. Please send me one!
Dude! I'd be happy to spend the rest of my life listening to and admiring these amazing mechanisms. How wonderful that you get to see them up close. Blessed. Thank you for sharing them.
I mentioned in last video I gave my music box away- it was in my car when I was hit head on and my daughter died in the accident- it was damaged in the accident and I had a terrible time finding someone to repair it. It’s nice to see you are helping to keep these beautiful pieces working.
This is something I've never seen ! Just exquisite!! I'm going to start looking around, would love to find one for my Granddaughter (when shes MUCH older)😁 what a unique, special keepsake. Thank you for sharing!!

I agree. If you look into jewelry displays, there are small rotating stands that move slowly and would really allow you to show off these pieces! I would love to have one of these.

@@troyduncan1969 I know it's difficult. Try to think more slowly, and plan out the features you want to highlight. A little forethought goes a long way.
@@jimsupkis9306 I do not think you understand Jim. 99% of the videos I make are to support eCommerce sales as very few of my competitors invest the time to make videos. I sold this piece very well so the video is merely to supplement the narrative and not to generate RU-vid hits. With over USD $5m in online sales, my approach has worked very well.
@@troyduncan1969 I like what you do. I'd like you to be more successful, and I plan on watching more of your videos. Your knowledge of the subject, narration, and voice are excellent. So, the fact that you're not the greatest videographer is no big deal. Simply understand that when your object moves in your hands while your camera is moving and zooming is not a good thing. Best wishes.

Thank you for this fine video. I absolutely adore these automaton bird boxes and have always wanted one! This one is superb! I’m wondering if the value of this piece?
I've started watching these a week ago and am curiously addicted. I guess a thing of beauty is a joy forever. I actually became intrigued after watching the 'music box scene ' with Margaret O'Brien and Danny Kay in the 'The Unfinished Dance'. What was that music box song anyway???

jonnda Looked blue to me. Maybe something wrong with your device, or worse yet, your eyes. Retinal detachment? Macular degeneration? Better get to the opthamologist!
@@mjrussell414 Nope, I'm looking at plenty of blue objects on my phone as I type this and in the room around me. The camera settings and lighting angle used for the video must suck. @0:24 there is an enamel line at the bottom of the case that still looks black, while I can clearly see the blued steel hands on the clock. At 0:52 the enamel scroll to the right looks blue at the bottom while it is black at the top, but mostly these things appear to be so dark that they might as well be completely black.

Actually, silver was not always hallmarked - depending upon country or origin and the article size. I do not recall if this piece was hallmarked but again - that is not always true.
@@troyduncan1969 Very unusual for a piece of superb craftsmanship and enameling being anonymous. Most European countries have old, well established hallmarking system, hardly to find an exception. Hallmarking was not intended for us to identify who made silver, but as a proof tax was paid.It is almost unimaginable to manufacture such expensive item with hundreds of precious gems and sell it without paying tax, even if it was privately commissioned. Sometimes hallmarks and makers marks can be in very inconspicuous places, almost hidden. Moreover, does clock mechanism offer any clue who made it ?
@@guilesivann1949 As stated prior, this piece has already sold so I do not have anything to add. I have sold about USD 4 million online so my apologies if I do not recall every aspect of this specific piece. Contrary to you assertion, hallmarks were not always consistent in many European countries especially for small articles. British and Dutch were the best but many others simply used one small hallmark that is easily rubbed off over 100 to 200 years. If he just went over these boxes slowly his camera would focus. I like that he does this but the sharp movement & out of focus shots hurts my eyes. I can’t watch as much as I’d like to 🙁

Singing bird boxes curious. How much did it sell for? Did you buy it from someone? How much time and work did you put into this piece? Did it need heavy cleaning and alot of custom fixing?
Most likely pink sapphires around the clock bezel. I doubt a piece as fine as this one that had other sapphires imbedded would have such cheap amethysts on it.
