Speaking of Jere, bought my first piece many many years ago, for $27.00....tree with 4 birds.....then the Ship, for $225.00, and then the "flock of Birds" for $125.00.....gave that one to my Son.....
What an amazing antique mall. So many interesting and storied pieces. T h asks you so much for taking us with you and sharing your thoughts and knowledge, and your cheeky sense if humor. So much fun whole I'm winding down to sleep.
George you made me laugh so hard I almost spit out my coffee when you said " How come you never say anything about my face." 🤣😂😅 She had no face but certainly had a figure. You caught me off guard because you meshed it in so smoothly. Mahalo, I needed that laugh!! Great stuff here. Love it all.
I honestly had forgotten I said it and I laughed out loud too! Isn't that silly? I don't usually laugh at my own jokes but that one just hit me that way in the moment...thank you for appreciating my sense of humor. Mahalo and Mele Kalikimaka
Probably 30 years ago, I bought 3 chartreuse satin glass candlesticks of different designs at 3 different locations. Since that time, I have never even seen any for sale - except in your video! Sadly, I let mine go with many other lovely vintage pieces bc my then-husband's tastes didn't include them... (I think I should have kept my very pretty candlesticks and let go of the other thing!) 😢
That's so sad that someone else was able to dictate you to get rid of things you loved because they didn't like them. I mean, your loves and interests are just important as his. I hope one day you can replace those candlestick holders.
Hi George. Hope you are somewhere Safe during this freeze. Love looking through your eyes at this great place. Thank you for taking us along. Jewelry is my love. Merry Christmas Blessings 🎄🎅🎄
Hi Zoe! I'm south of the freeze line for a few more days. I'm so glad to show this place to everyone! Merry Christmas and may your tree be trimmed in jewelry
Welcome aboard! I'm so glad you found me. We'll keep having fun, definitely see lots of English pieces that we try to highlight in our Mon/Wed premieres (8 pm eastern, if that happens to translate to a time you can chat, come join us!)
Could you tell me about my nun biscuit jar. There is always a lot of friar pieces and some cardinal pieces. My nun has ‘thou shall not steal ‘ on it. Love it as it was my mums. Thanks Jo from Australia. Ps.. love your channel..
Thank you, I am thrilled to have viewers down under! (Although maybe we're the ones who are down under, it seems like you could look at it both ways.) Anyhow, I would have to see the jar, but you can submit it via TheAntiqueNomad.com under the appraisals tab if you wish! Thanks
Good evening, George! I liked the roadrunner pin/brooch in the showcase. That pond boat, on top of the old trunk, caught my eye. It looked like a nice one, and it had a good size. That marine lamp was really nice! Did you get that one? That definitely was a good price on it. Those old iceboxes are really good to store dry goods. I have a white one with wood shelves in it, but nowhere in the house to put it...won't get rid of it, though. Loved the pickled bamboo shelf! I really like the old whiteware pottery, but don't see a lot of it anymore. I like the smooth, satiny finish on the old whiteware. That looked to be a super-nice place to browse and shop! There would've definitely been many items there with my fingerprints left on them 😂 Thanks for the tour!!!
I forgot to get the marine lamp and am kicking myself, the chances of it still being there are slim but when I saw this I made a note to call them tomorrow to ask! I like old iceboxes and have suggested that they can be fitted as wine storage as well. You and I share the pickled bamboo interest! I've seen a bit more white ware now that Martha Stewart likes it, seems to be coming out of old collections? It really is a wonderful mall and I was thrilled to show it to you!
@@TheAntiqueNomad Ohhh...I bet you are kicking yourself over that marine lamp 😬 Maybe it will still be there when you ring them about it! I've not seen another icebox like the one I have. I don't have a clue as to when it was made, but I'm guessing it was sometime at the point they were going out of style and electric refrigerators were taking over. It's shaped like a 1940s...I guess...refrigerator, and it has wood racks/shelves in it that are painted that old 😝 green that seems to have been so popular in the '30s and '40s. It has one main door, and there is a metal compartment for the ice inside the main body of it. There is a peaked/tapered wood rack the ice sat on, inside that compartment, with a drainpipe that runs down the back to a space underneath it. There is a small door at the bottom to be able to remove a drip pan that would've collected the melt water. It's covered up, out in the garage, since there's no space for it inside the house. That won't be another piece I'll regret getting rid of, though - it's not going anywhere. That Victorian pickled bamboo can easily fit into pretty much any decor. I've had one piece of it, (a corner chair), and I wish I'd never sold it. I bought it at a yard sale, and I think I paid $10.00 or $15.00 for it...can't remember for how much I sold it. I used to have quite a bit of the whiteware. Mostly the urn-shaped, double-handled vases. All of that was sold almost a decade ago, though. I'd had it for years, so I got it at ridiculously low prices, ($0.25 - $0.50 each), mostly at flea markets and thrift stores. Once the "Martha finger" gets pointed at something, though, the prices do tend to go up a bit 😆 That is, indeed, a really super-nice mall!
I can see why Tower Avenue Antiques is your go-to resource for all things cool. Andrea's jewelry display case drove me nuts, as did the one at 23:46 with the black many-points necklace shown on the display form. The beaded wall holder was really neat, the Blue Mountain Bear I liked a lot & the idea for the "Cowboy Room" was awesome. Someday I must visit the place. Three floors!!
Oh that was a neat necklace I didn't mentoin! The Blue Mountain bear is cool and harder to find. I hope you get out west some day, I really do like this mall!
Hi George - so fun to see you do local PNW stores! I’m in Ridgefield and my friend and I make trips up to Centralia to peruse all the great stores there! ❤
What a Fab Place!…..Watching Rock ‘n’ Roll High School while I wrap Christmas Presents…..Fun, Fun….. And catching your video too!…… Enjoy the Holidays and hope the two of you steer clear of the Major Winter Christmas Blizzard of 2022….🎄🎄🎄❄️❄️❄️☃️☃️☃️🌬🌬🌬🎅🏼🎅🏼🎅🏼
Thinking I hope you don't have authority when your videos post. In my area it posted at the same time as President of Ukraine spoke to the US Congress. That was more important to me. I'm watching your video now though.
Honestly, RU-vid punishes us if we don't follow a consistent schedule, I figure people will watch when they're able. I hope you enjoyed the video, it's one of my favorite places!
It depends how he did it. If he threaded the wired through a gap and placed a socket in the inner wick without drilling it, the value isn't harmed (best if he kept the original wick and mantel somewhere). Otherwise it isn't a good thing for value
Wow, a great antique/vintage mall. I really enjoyed seeing it. I have watched your videos for a couple of years now and I don't think I've ever heard you mention or point out what I think are called Chinese mud men. I've only ever seen one large collection and I was fascinated by them. I would think they are very collectible.
Hello! I do like Mud Men, and there are some pretty good ones, I"m surprised I'm not seeing them more in the Northwest. I only have run into a few small and not so old ones, but I will keep my eyes out!
"Staple repair " is a magic word. Some folks collect things just for the repairs. I like pieces that were worth less than the repair cost. That means there's a story. In the past, when I went to flea markets etc, I looked for the oddballs on a dealer's stall. I called it buying jewelry from the toy dealer and toys from the hardware guy. (And it was always a guy.) The stuff didn't belong there and they wanted it gone.
You may not have noticed, but I would really love to know the price they had on the Franciscan Apple cookie jar under the green glass candle sticks around the 3 minute mark.
Frame 36:28 That wooden rocking figure on the left looks like 1 of the " Spy vs Spy " cartoon figures from " Mad Magazine " ! I'm always amazed at how much you know about all the different objets, brands, places, etc. Careful being out in all this cold crazy weather. :~)
Hey Loretta has found a big ole box of Xeno's Glamor Shots pictures from his Atlanta days and wants to know if he still might have any Dippity Doo or White Rain still. It's just so difficult to get a good bouffant updo using all these new hair products. Loretta and Miss Ima Mann are pleased with the Holiday Fashion Show that they put on at the Antique Emporium. Xeno is completely sold out of his Frederick's of Hollywood collection with the exception of the fishnet pantyhose that Buster and Elmer used to go trout lining down at the creek. I don't think that Elmer was quite understanding of the idea, but not wanting to upset Buster, wore them anyway. Loretta was going to put a bow on your Christmas present, but decided it made her skirt fit funny. Bless her heart for trying, but she just not barking up the wrong tree, she ain't even in the right forest. Ho Ho Ho!
Lol! Xeno is not sure how you knew about his Atlanta days, but he had some all right. Loretta and I didn't know him then, but I think he saw Elmer lining more than his trout with them. Loretta means well but she's in a cactus desert on that one. Ho indeed!
It was great to end my day with you. 💕 Great advice on checking "things that stick out"... that will always get me in a booth and it's often the thing I buy. Sometimes it wasn't in their wheelhouse, but it was in mine. =) Happy Holidays!
They were blown glass bowls set in silverplate frames with handles that were often a present for a new bride as a fancy centerpiece in the Victorian era
I'm sorry to hear that! So many of the things that trigger collecting interest are childhood memories, but not all are happy ones...BMP is gone now, so all there is now is all there will be...that might be a good thing for you!
@@TheAntiqueNomadTrue, the happy memories do inspire my collecting. Fire King Harlequin pattern mugs, red and white enamelware, Barbie clothes (I frame them), Snuffles bears...
I love them! I used to find them in Kentucky but I haven't seen any I could buy to resell in ages...usually they are incomplete so I thought their price was good
Please tell me with time stamps where there is confusion, I will be glad to help sort it out! My goal is to help explain what you're seeing and I shouldn't assume things are all obvious.
