I think it all had something to do with a glass shortage way back when John Candy and Eugene Levy were little boys and they used to play jars . But then there was a glass shortage and not enough jars so Eugene started playing the accordian and John started playing the clarinet . They had a lot of hit polka records and a song called Cabbage rolls and coffee . They were on Late Night With David Letterman and their records today are very rare and hard to find . I'm still looking for one .
I found a perfect mason jar # 1 mold on bottom I can`t find anywhere I have been looking hard. It has what I can only call reenforcement ribs. Have you heard of such a jar? It has the Ball desighn of what looks like 1890 -1910 .I don`t see any like it in what you presented. I`m puzzled Your presentation was very thorough, thank you
My son found one with a "2" on the bottom it says Mason on the first line and below "fruit jar" on the second line its blue it has side seams, a shoulder, straight walls, tiny bubbles, like specks even. Any ideas about it

I have a jar i can not find a reference for, it says Mason very smal lettering is embossed across right bottom corner with harvest time tm and has some wheat a sun and a moon in the triangle, has weasurements for milleliters and cups and ozs the bottom has genuine mason jar with a bunch of # and letters i wish i could send a pic. is there a site that u know of that shows pics of when different jars were made? I know youre not obligated to answer me but i would appreciate hearing from anyone.....thanks
Well, you don't sound like you come from the mountains for one thing and this makes you, in one way or another, a Yankee. I come from a long line of mountain folks here in The Mountains of Northeast Tennessee..... Never heard the witch story but I have heard about the folks that cooked "hot water" use"nm and destroying (I believe rare) but truthfully this didn't happen very often. Store shelves is where the 13's sat! Where they went from there I can't say.... But I can tell ya that I have hunted outhouse holes, ditches, riverbed, creeks, construction sights and sink holes for at minimum of 35 years of my 46...... Since I decided to begin counting 6 years ago I have found 162 of the broken leftover bottom round part of the jar w/the 13 numbered on the bottom. Compare this to regular 0-16 broken jars that I have found in this amount of time and there's no comparison! I have found very few broken jars under any other number! In one day in one creek bed out in a holler my wife n I found 71 in one spot! Along this same creek in walking distance from where we discovered the horde we found several small stone furnace foundations minus the stills, (probbly scrapped many year ago) which is pretty good evidence of a fairly productive outfit them fellers musta been a runn'n. Unless anyone has another hypothesis for these broken jars I am gonna hafta continue to feel just how I have ALWAYS felt about a loud mouthed , smart assed no good yankee!😂 just kidd'n ( but only about the "smart" part)
I have a number 7 I found on my daily walk but doesn't look like this it is a glass jar with a line and a number 7 above it on the bottom of the bottle and I found one years ago same area 1385 is dated on it
Hope this isnt a one time video on fruit jars.I have the 1st 2 both in half gallon.Was the ones shown half gallon jars? Condition is king im told.Mine are very nice and not chipped and i hear half gallon is a better jar than the quart.i have so many questions cause i do collect old jars.To name a few,2 amber globe quarts.2 half gallon amber mason hero cross jars.millville quart with lid and metal screw latch seeler,woodbury half gallon,cohensey barrel jar.Just want to be more educated on jars.i have many more but dont want to blow up your page.
