This restoration was my greatest challenge to date.
Completely broken leg, scratches, dents, chipped veneer, this cabinet had it all. It also had a ton of modifications previously made to it in its past lives that I aimed to undo. My goal was to bring this piece back to its original function as a record cabinet.
I purchased a record player from Victrola, the same maker as this phonograph cabinet. It may not be as cool as the original crank-operated phonograph, but this is more practical for modern standards; it even has Bluetooth! I designed the whole inside based around the dimensions of the record player that I got, and although the process may look smooth and quick in the video, the multiple iterations of design had me digging through the deepest depths of my brain.
If you enjoyed this makeover, please like and subscribe to see more. And if you have any questions, I would be happy to answer your comments.
Thank you for watching :)
- Andy

No joke I frickin love milanote. I found it when I was trying to find software that was easy to use for game development. You can add tons of types of media to it they give you I think 300 posts? So glad you were able to save this cabinet. I love the cabrio legs. Please think about using dowels to strengthen the leg break instead of screws in future projects. The joint will last longer with wood and can expand and contract with moisture content. Thanks for your consideration. You're the professional and do a great job.

Andy, of all the projects I have watched you do, this one takes the cake for the complete restoration and elevation of a piece of furniture that seemed destined for a fire pit. The one thing I truly love about watching these types of videos is seeing the treasures that are out there and with all the work you do to find the best way to return it to good use. In this one not only restoring the leg with missing pieces but also restoring the doors to their original design among the things you accomplished. Then to also have the original name in basically perfect condition. Love, love, love the results. Thanks again for an amazing video.

@@ModernMakeovers I love the imagination you have to see what something can be. That while it's good to restore the great things about a piece, it's also fun to make changes that make it even more beautiful. The furniture available today is boring, usually made of horribly inferior materials and is ready to throw away in the trash in a few years. That's why the work you do is so important. It's beautiful, made to last for along time and very useful. I can't remember your name if you've ever given it. But thanks. I just wish I could buy some of your pieces. But I live in Mexico and the shipping is ridiculous. Thanks

This is a beautiful cabinet. My Grandparents had one of these, but it had been converted to a sewing cabinet by Grandpa for Grandma. At any rate, just a suggestion for the front doors on this project... You might have considered cutting new pieces of Red Oak and staining them close to the Mahogany Veneer, or using Birds Eye Maple an building a pair of Contrasting front doors. The last choice, would have been my personal... would be some Red Manzanita, this gives you the red of the Mahogany but the Bird's Eye look of Maple. For the top, I am very glad that water scar came out. I have repaired those by sanding, then glue-sizing the wood. At any rate, beautiful project. Just beautiful. and... Yes Tung Oil is my favorite wood finish too. Just beautiful!!!

Ohhhhh My😮my husband is a Northern Soul Vinyl collector and DJ. We both adore this cabinet and would be so proud to own it. His extensive collection of vinyl are in record boxes all around our home😂😂😂

Beautiful restoration! Enjoyed watching the process and learning things along the way. The Michael Jackson photo and the video of the Astronaut were great, loved them!
