This week's vlog sees us heading out for a day of Antique shopping on route 28 on Cape Cod. It's a sunny week here on the sea after last week's rain and snow, so we'll enjoy the sun as we look at our lovely Thrift Shop finds.
There is still time to sketch for another lady with animal in our continuing series as well as dream of the Spring garden with new seeds. Grab a cuppa and come join me for some quiet time shopping and an Artist's Life by the sea.

Thank you, I will @Donna Stevenson but alas I am dog free just now, first time ever in my life, tho my old dogs, a chi and an italian greyhound, barely ate their food and so never chewed or messed with garden things ,they preferred sitting on pillows or lounging on the warm sand on the beach haha. I do wonder if I made a mistake putting the foxglove I have so close to my lettuce bed as they spread seed, so considering moving the ones I have to further flower bed.

Ps...I would definitely get into some financial bindes in this antiques shop with you!! I totally love the pair of ship paintings and would have to have the doll house if only for the architectural aspect. This is my favorite shop so far!!

Yes, I know it is hard to show it all. All my antique store vlogs have the same problem. But if you could just pause a moment in front of each shelf, I can hold the frame and 'go shopping' very nicely. That looks like a very interesting store, too. I shall try harder next time. I've more footage I'm sharing in my next vlog, tho it's already shot so you might find it as troublesome as this video :) However, I am getting a bit better, I have a gimbal now which helps some what, but I suppose I was so excited to see it all, I didn't go slower. But, worry not, I will go back here and film more as well as the other places I have also gone and many more I've yet to go :)

Thank you for taking us along your antique shopping! Love the views from your car as you drive by those beautiful New England homes. I just ordered two of Joseph Lincoln's books, Cap Code Stories and Thankful's Inheritance. Thank you for the suggestion! Looking forward to reading them! I had no idea Edward Gorey was from Massachusetts. I just assumed he was from England. As a kid I would watch Mystery on PBS with my parents. I remember his illustrations. Haven't thought about that t.v. show in years.

I'm so glad you liked it, I've more to share on next vlog from there I believe. OH and no I did NOT cut my hair, lol. I simply wore it up, which I do fairly often, but I realize often when I'm filming I'm at home and I've left it down. It's two braids and pinned at the crown and then I 'fuss about' with the edges, particularly when I wear a cloche hat :)

It also makes me realize I need to go slower still and pan more so other's can shop better. You might have enjoyed my big container garden of Lavendar surrounded by Salmon-colored petunias, planted in an old galvanized washtub. I specifically chose those plants for the color contrast.

That sounds amazing @cloisterene :) I'm hoping, this Summer, when I try to keep improving my very harsh sunny garden bed that faces the sea, to include that colour scheme more. With Russian Sage and Salvia and Lavender such work horses of Hot Dry salty wind, and being purple/blue, I'm hoping to counter their shock of colour with the peachy/apricots there. I'll be on the hunt for that colour in a plant that doesn't mind the dry sun. I have an echinacea in that tone that did rather well there as long as it was protected by the sage and I watered it daily. Don't you just love the artistry of gardening? :)

I Love Edward Gorey!!! Quirky as he is (and so am I) ... Everything today was fun and inspiring Donna, I especially liked that little box with the drawer and mirror; and I wouldn't worry at all, IMHO sweet words like, "lovely" cannot be over-used...just out of curiosity, is your hair cut or just pulled up? either way, looks beautiful!

No, it's braids and pinned up, I often wear it up but realize I've worn it down mostly in my videos, not sure why? Maybe because I was 'at home' haha. Yes I LOVE edward Gorey. I'm inspired by him in ways in my own black and white, tho it's a different style, I always think of his work when doing it :) Yes that travel wooden case was amazing.

I even bought a comforter cover lately of black and cream stripes because it's so striking, so old world...I put pillows of big cabbage red roses and red geraniums with deep green leaves against it. Hello Donna! I was intrigued and searched you out a while ago after hearing the beginning of a story you wrote and sent to La Lande - I believe it was the beginning of the story of the lost lake from the point of view of two little creatures - was it a pea hen and a frog?...I look forward to hearing the rest of it someday. I loved your wonderful, delightful choice of words and wanted it to go on :) and yes, Stephanie liked it! I love the style of your vlog from beginning to end. You shared so many things in this one video - your knowledge of items in the antique store..I learned of two authors I have begun to investigate-thank you. I enjoyed hearing you referring to Marie of La Lande (she does such beautiful arrangements!), and learning of the dalmation foxgloves), meeting again your little Luna - have you done a painting of yourself with her? Love how you sat on your new chair overlooking the sea, then vanished - great effect. Thanks for sharing your world by the sea and inspiring me with your art - it is beautiful. I am an artist of sorts (and have artistic adult children), but found it difficult to draw on the computer - so enjoyed and admire your talent with that medium! Looking forward to seeing you soon...from Marysville, Washington, also near another part of the sea.

@SuS Prime yes I was thinking that, not as late as 1900 mainly because the fabric appears to be original upon inspection and it really has that late Victorian colour way, but I suppose it's all a guess. I know I loved it when I saw it and when I read the price tag I nabbed it. I didn't even ask for it at a lower price because since the world changed, with less shopping, I feel like I'd better pay the asking price so we can have MORE things to go look at :) What would life be without antique/thift/charity/brocate/tag sale shopping? :)

@@DonnaDavisArt Exactly Donna and in some of the old photos, the hoop skirted ladies are sitting in similar Neo-Gothic chairs. It will be a good prop for your lovely paintings.

OH I do love a cloche hat @Rosa Lotter I have many hats, but my go to this time of year is the cloche or any small fitting hat. In Summer I'm more prone to wider brims, to keep the sun at bay and there are so many lovely wide brimmed hats to enjoy in the Warm weather (thou I suppose you always have warm weather ha ha ) Thanks for stopping by and good luck with your hat!

It's so true @Cyndi Thoman Antique shops are OUR candy shops :) I'm wearing a wool Cloche made popular in the 1920's but this is simply a modern version. I forget where I first bought it, possibly at the little dress shop in the village.
