Thank you Doctor. I'm MSc Med. Micro student Today I have to submit the ASO results to my Professor. I'm in little bit of confusion. But you cleared my doubts. Thank you so much ❤
Thank you for this. I couldn't understand what the serum was for, and for some reason it hasn't clicked to me that ASO is something that our body produces. Thank you for this. I understood a different this because of this video too, and what's funny is that you didn't even explain it here.
My sons level has been at 400 and over now for the last 2 test. And Paediatrician is just saying this is normal, even though he's presenting with scarlet fever and PANDAS
sir in my knowledge aso result we doesn't give him in 100,300,500, 700, my sir told me that if you give the result like that 200,400,600,800 so way . my comment is before the video
@@MedicalMicrobiologyGuide thanks but my urine color is cloudy and i have a leg cramp and cough. My doctor advice me to take another test which is ANA and ANTI-DSDNA . Just wanted to ask what should I do to make my ASO TITER low. Thank you.
@@tusharsinha9923 Sir, my ASO is 250 and Doctor told me to do surgery of my tonsils if it dnt work with penicillin.... What did your Doctor say to you regarding your ASO??? Plz reply 😢
@@MedicalMicrobiologyGuide My pathologist gave vale 200, when doc asked a correct one, he made it 240 infront of me......Tested else where. He didn't mention titre. When asked he wrote 400.
There wont be 1.16 dilution. It should be 1:16 dilution. Just presence of ASO will not indicate the disease. You must have symptoms. If you are healthy otherwise dont worry. Nothing will happen. Any body infected with Group A strep infection can have raised ASO. It may not always indicate disease.
I have a question - normal medical practice is to treat Streptococcus infection with penicillin. I have a patient who had Scarlatine disease but throat sample was negative for any Streptococcus strain. Now I am waiting for the ASO test which I expect to return with high levels. However, if no streptococcus was found in his throat and high ASO levels indicate previous infection of the bacteria why is penicillin recommended? Is high ASO not a condition of post-infection, where the bacteria is gone already? Why is it treated with penicillin?
Scarlet fever is a toxin mediated disease associated with throat or skin infection by Group A Strep (GAS). If throat culture is negative please consider checking presence of any skin lesions. If no skin lesions then consider the other differential diagnosis. Culture is considered gold standard for confirmation of Scarlantina. ASO will not be raised in scarlet fever as it is an acute condition. ASO will raise only after 2-3 weeks of infection. Hence ASO is not useful for diagnosis. As you already mentioned it only indicate prior Strep infection. Penicillin is recommended as it is drug of choice. As long as GAS is there in throat Scarlantia will not come down. Hence it is recommended to treat. Please remember it is not post-streptococcal sequelae.
@@MedicalMicrobiologyGuide Thank you for your reply. The patient is a little 6 year old girl, accompanied by sore throat and skin rashes. It was scarlet fever 100%. I`m just puzzled by the treatment course recommended by medical books. All symptoms were gone after 1 week and throat culture was negative once the disease over. So ASO test would probably be high but not sure why that is relevant. High number of antibodies proves previous infection with stp so why treat with antibiotics? All the best.
Me 7 year se arthrocin kha raha hu mera report normal nahi aata hai kabhi kabhi 200 se kam ho jata hai to kabhi 200 se jada me kiya kru dushra koai upay nahi hai is ka koai accha doctor to janta ho to please ham se comments me bat kre please 🙏 me jharkhand se hu
2:17 My result was 1406. I haven't been feeling well for a very long time. I called the clinic that ordered my lab work to see if there was any danger of giving strep to someone else and they denied that it was done and there were no results. Am I contagious?
No you are not. You will find increased titers after 15 days of cure of Strep in your throat. But as they are microorganisms we cant say non-contagious also. Keep your hand clean and tidy.
What is the use of Positive and Negative control?...I think even If you skip Pos. And Neg. Procedure and do only Test proc. The result is the same(Qualit. Test)..any suggestions Doc.
Hi! We are using positive and negative control to make sure that our reagent is not deteriorated or is not expired. It's important to make sure that the result obtained is accurate. I mean if your positive control did not agglutinate, it means that something is wrong with the reagent and vice versa. Therefore, your test should be invalidated.
