the kick in touch: 1) if you kick directly in touch, it's a touch engagement for the opponent a the mark where the ball was kicked 2) if you kick in touch but the ball only is out after an infield rebound, it's and touch engagement for the opponent at the mark where the ball got in touch 3) "new" rule: if you kick in touch from behind the middle of the field and further than the 22m line, and the ball rebound infield before going in touch, it's a touch engagement for the kicker team at the mark where the ball got in touch... first 1 is often done when trying to get out of a bad situation (too much pressing) and failing your kick the 2nd is the same as before but you succeeded in kicking appropriately... 3rd one, and that's what you see Dupont do, is an offensive kick. You both get closer to the opponent try line and retain the ball possession for the touch engagement... it necessitate good kicking ability. And Dupont, as you can see with his kicking passes, has very good kicking abilities in addition of everything else... can't say yet if he's the goat, (and as a French, one would think I would brag about that), but he sure is the most complete rugger I can think of... he's just missing the numbers 1 to 5 qualities that are very physical by nature
The long kick is a 50-22. When you are in your own half of the field (50 meters or more from the opponent's try line) you can kick the ball with the foot. If the has at least one rebound on the field and then goes out in the opponent's 22 meters zone, then your team will get the throw in on the next line out which can be a very good opportunity to scorea try.
When a player kicks from his own half and the ball touches the ground before going out, it is a throw-in for his team. If the ball goes straight out, the throw-in is for the opposing team. Great reaction ! 👍
Not exactly. If the ball touches the ground before going out, the throw-in is for the opposite team but if it goes directly outside, there's a free-kick (or a scrum) for the other team where the ball was kicked from. More recently the rule changed and if you kick out a ball in the opponent 22 meters from your own half (50 meters at least), the throw-in isn't for the other team. Rugby rules aren't simple :-)
When you said his trick always work, we call that a "dummy" in rugby and he's very good at it. You should review his rugby 7 highlights, started last year and made France World and Olympic champion. A freak of nature.
About the kick, Dupont kicked it hard enough to gain 50+ meters and have the ball out. It means that it's "out" and the team gains a "touch" ("throw") 5 meters from the enemy's try-line. Maybe you should react to a video about rugby union rules
Chill, bro. He did apologise in advance for butchering the French pronunciation of Dupont's names. Commentators butcher the names of our South_African athletes, and we have a chuckle about it, and then move along.
HE is the best most skilled player I've ever seen in my life and I've been watching rugby for 40 years... Dan Carter from NZ is the only second great I would rate at THIS level.
You should react to highlights from his french team : Toulouse. They won the 2 biggest tournament and championship last year and a few year in a row. They play beautiful rugby
