Lol I went from watching One Piece (ep715), to searching stuff about vegetative state, to searching info about coma, to Antom syndrome - idk how I feel so depressed and sad now... fortunately it's evening here so I guess it'll be better tomorrow hahah.
To me NO they are not in denial it is fascinating. The deterioration of the visual cortex means the eye itself is fine but the brain can't process vision but the brain is a neural network other parts of the brain might be starting to slowly take the place of the visual cortex but they are unable to develop far enough to completely restore vision they are not in denial they are experiencing something that is completely incomprehensible the idea of vision being processed by a completely diffrent part of the brain. I myself think the part of the brain responsible for creativity and dreams probably takes over and starts to make stories about what is wrong
This sounds like my mother. She has macular degeneration and cataracs. Couple that with Alzheimers and dementia.................. She's in denial that there's anything wrong with her vision. She'll swear the fog is rolling in (when the sun isn't shining and it's cloudy) or that there's ice on the white oak trees when the sun is shining on them. She does try to cover up a lot. I catch her at times, using a magnifying glass to read even large print. I started noticing in Sunday school, she didn't want to read, which was unusual. She has the large print book.
2020 i felt into a coma for 4-5weeks. When i woke up i wasn't able to speak but wanted to tell me father "please take me home". So i showed him & the nurse bring me a piece of paper and a pen. So i wrote "dad please i wanna go home now" .. but my dad couldn't read it neither the nurse. I was sooo angry why they wouldn't understand what i wrote & i thought they act like they couldn't read it. Like 2 weeks later i was allowed to go home and i found that piece of paper. I just made scratches on it...but 2 weeks before when i wrote it i was 100% sure i wrote sentences. The anton syndrom seems very familiar...
