What I really love about this song is how it's so tonally different from the likes of Hurry Up, Pizza Time, and Collapsing Time Rift. While those songs express urgency as the world around you is falling apart, this sounds absolutely triumphant and cathartic, which fits as you play as a demolitions expert. The objective IS to destroy it all. And you get to bear witness to your craft as the level falls apart during your victory lap to Brulo's Bar for happy hour.
Absolutely agreed. Wario and Peppino are running from an impending threat, fearing for their lives. Anton couldn't be happier that everything's blowin' up. _He's in his fuckin' element._
"Hurry Up!" - the level is falling apart, pick up the pace! "It's Pizza Time!" - the level is falling apart, run for your god damn life "Outta My Way, It's Happy Hour!" - the level is falling apart, _make it fall apart faster :)_
Wario land 4's escape theme show what Wario feel at the moment: WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON ?!?. Despite that, Wario destroy everything on his way to get the treasure. Pizza time represent peppino's stress growing as the clock's ticking: he's doing all of this to save his pizzeria. Death that i deservioli is even more stressing: peppino isn't even doing this to save his pizzeria, he just brave the death. Bye Bye Pizza Tower is completely different, it represent the feeling peppino has while escaping the tower: he's going to do it, he's going to win, he DID it. the tone of the music is not stressing, it's heroic, he's saving everyone and stops pizzahead's schemes. "Outta My Way ...It's Happy Hour!" shows the anger of anton: He want to destroy everything. The clock's ticking mean completely something else here: Anton wait for the explosion, at each second, the final flourish is closer.
“And…UNO! WAHAHAHA! 4TH WIN A ROW IT’S ALL MINE!” “Mama Mia, can you shut up? My-a head feels like it’s been stabbed…” “Don’t worry about him, ‘pino. I got it. Reverse, reverse, draw 4.” * silence for about half a minute before Wario flips the table *
The death i deservioli: Hey, you just made a fatal mistake, but now it's really good! Sweet release of death: you made a fatal mistake. *NOW HURRY THE FUCK UP!*
Funny how each escape theme has it's mood Wario Land 4's Hurry Up: Chaos which is occuring in the level Pizza Tower's Pizza Time & TDTID (Lap 2 Theme): Fear and panic converted into pure rage and adrenaline Antonblast's Happy hour: No fear, Pure motivation and destruction
I feel like happy hour has the slightest bit of fear for destroying the place a bit too much to make it impossible to escape/waiting for more stuff to explode
I'd say TDTID is also pretty motivating. Since unlike Pizza Time, Peppino jumped through the Lap 2 portal knowing fully well what he was getting yourself into, daring Pizzaface to catch him if he can.
Unlike Frog Switches and Pillar John, Happy Hour is rife with detours that serve no purpose at all except to forgo your own personal safety to sate your manic cravings for destruction
I love how triumphant the song sounds until around the halfway mark when the fact that you’re on a quickly emptying time limit kicks in and it gets frantic
It's kind of like the reverse of You Will Know Our Names, where the beginning is very menacing and intimidating, but once you get past that, it means you have a chance, and the song gets extremely triumphant.
The song has some proper “strength” to it now, it feels heavy, it feels fast, and most importantly it feels destructive! This isn’t a “run for your life”, this is a “finish what you started” type of feel and it fits Anton perfectly
@@denraimei32 tfw you arrive in hell and immediately fall to the depths… and satan just slides a detonator as your landing pad, starting happy hour before you can even get your bearings
To quote myself from an upload of the old version: "I love how well the escape themes of Antonblast and Pizza Tower characterize their respective protagonists. Peppino is incredibly anxious despite his strength, and so Pizza time leans more into the surreal and "oh god oh sh## of fu##" aspects of the original Hurry Up, Whereas the more cocky Anton is accompanied by what can best be described as 'maniacal laughter, the musical'".
The subtle nods to Hurry Up! and the general chaotic energy this gives off is amazing. With this and Pizza Tower, I’m eating better than I would if Nintendo actually made a sixth Wario Land game.
One thing i really like is that the song gives you the feeling of triumph with a little bit of anxiety inducing stuff in it. Unlike pizza time and hurry up which pump you full of anxiety and adrenaline this pumps you full of triumph, while still giving you a bit of dread. It empowers you will still reminding you to get out of there. unlike pizza time and hurry up which intimidates and scares you
Its in character, as anton is a demolisions expert. He hauls a bigass hammer everywhere he goes, and during gameplay he breaks everything he sees for the poker chips. "Do what you must, for i have already won" comes to mind around 2:40 too.
Hurry Up: Everything's collapsing, gotta hurry things up! Collapsing Time Rift: Been here before, just gotta speed up and rush to the finish! It's Pizza Time: You just set this place to collapse, time to run before shit gets ugly. Outta My Way: Everything's collapsing? *_Splendiferous._*
Oh my god I just got it: The reason this song sounds so triumphant and powerful is because Anton is done with work (the level) and is rushing to the bar for Happy Hour
This feels like the glow-up "It's Pizza Time" had from it's SAGE 2019 demo to the final game. Saying it "blew me away" feels appropriate, given that it's Anton we're talking about.
"You know, kids always come up to me and they go: 'Hey Anton, say the line, say the line, Anton!' And then I gotta go: IT'S HAPPY HOUR!!!!" *proceeds to start running and tearing everything*
I love how, in comparison to It's Pizza Time!, this song is just, _so_ much more angrier, in the best way. Sure it's still a hectic race back to the start, but it's not hectic because you're panicked and scared, it's hectic because you're destroying EVERYTHING in your path. You're goddamn PISSED and you're gonna show the world! Specifically 1:12 feels like its harkens back to Angry Birds, which is so fitting haha. This has such good victory lap vibes that makes the destruction all the more satisfying.
I played this on speaker with my cat in my room, I don't know if it was a mistake or a happy little accident that my cat grew a beard and pulled out a hammer and yelled "IT'S HAPPY HOUR" before destroying my house.
NEW AND IMPROVED HAPPY HOUR?!?? HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! THIS SHIT GOES SO HARD!!! I'll be blasting this song until this game comes out!!!! YESSSSSS!!!! .... it's truly a good day to be a antonblast fan....
Whats funny is before pizza tower released. You'd have people calling it being called "Knock off Wario Land" and now its suddenly cool to compare any platformer with a timer as anexity pizza man
I cannot get over how giddy I get every single time when I hear that alarm bell go off at 0:36. Something about it just feels SO right, like it can be seen as Anton finally cracked and WILL destroy anything in his path, or it's what enemies in his path exclaim as a 5 ton hammer is hurdling right towards them. Not to mention it's a perfect use of ending the buildup in the song. Basically saying 'HEY BUB! SHIT IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN AND YOU BETTER GET BLASTIN' like GOD I love this song SOOOO MUCH. I am beyond happy that I backed this game when it was announced, and I cannot wait to hear banger after banger in what is shaping up to be an amazing platformer/antonblastformer genre game.
(I already commented most of this once but when I checked the comment section I couldn't find it, so apologies to anyone who sees two comments by the same guy that make pretty much the same point) As stated by the games composer in a tweet on June 5th, the motif the horns play in this theme is actually the motif for Satan. This changes the meaning of the song somewhat, as the triumphant tone said motif takes later on in the song becomes less about anton escaping danger and claiming back what was taken from him, and more about Satan possibly winning in the two's fund. Think about it, the longer that anton stays after happy hour begins, the more risk he's in, the longer the song goes, and the closer Satan gets to victory, so as such, in the later parts of this song, his motif is used more and more, and becomes more triumphant. This song is by all means Satan's victory theme, though I guess he is celebrating a bit too early, since anton/annie still have a chance at victory, but it does feel fitting for someone as egotistical as the literal king of the underworld to celebrate a bit too early.
since everybody's doing it pizza time can be described as PANIC in it's purest form, as the level falling apart is an unfortunate side effect of you finding a way out meanwhile, happy hour is a combination of anger and motivation, because THIS IS ANTON'S JOB *_HE ACTIVELY WANTS TO DESTROY EVERYTHING HERE AND GODDAMMIT HE'S DOING IT RIGHT NOW YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA_*
every other escape gives off "the world is crumbling but you can do it" type of vibe but happy hour gives off the "GTF IN THE ELEVATOR THE WORLD IS FUCKING BURNING GET IN GET IN" type of vibe
The wario land ticking is officially my favorite instrument The other samples are good too, I heard one from mother 3, what could be a doom monster hurt sound, and a sample from the Windows midi soundfont (can't remember the actual name of it)
It's Pizza Time is Peppino screaming "AHHHH! GET OUT OF MY WAY! I HAVE TO GET THROUGH!" This song is Anton firmly declaring *"Get the FUCK out of my way."*
God, this song slaps so hard. Please tell me I'm not alone when I say I love how the timer looks when you have to escape. It definitely looks like the WL4 timer, but it has its own coloring and tinge, to it.
I’m only just now discovering AntonBlast and I have to say? This is my favorite “time is running out, get out” song that I’ve heard in any game. It’s my favorite by a LONG shot. It’s extremely unique, and the pinned comment really explains it better than I ever could. You’re playing as a demolitions expert, you couldn’t be more in your element when you hear this song. It’s cathartic, it gets your blood pumping not with panic and stress, but with ecstasy and triumph. I believe all the songs that are like this are fantastic in their own ways (Hurry Up, It’s Pizza Time, Collapsing Rift, etc), but this is one of the most unique and well composed I’ve ever heard, and it owns that uniqueness COMPLETELY. Marvelous work, Summitsphere! I’m looking forward to playing this :D!!!

You know what would be cool? If Annie got her own version of the song Like, everything is exactly the same, but only the main melody would be completely different instead
I've been listening to happy hour about once a day for a while now, just as hype music or because it's in my Playlist, and I'm thinking "if there's any part of this game that's allready we're it should be it's this song, I can't imagine it being any more hype" It is now more hype
Imagine this: you’re meditating on top of a tall building; The night sky is bright and you are watching the stars. For once you actually find peace in your not-so happy life until suddenly, you smell smoke. You open your eyes and you realize that *OH MY GOODNESS THE BUILDING IS IN FLAMES GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!* and this song plays as soon as you start running. Idk, I like to imagine these kinds of situations at times, weird isn’t it? (Don’t worry tho, your life got better after that day)
I swear to god.. I played the demo of this game.. It was the best 20-30 minutes of my life. SERIOUSLY.. this captures such wario energy and that's a good thing. I love the gimmicks, the moveset, everything.. IT FEELS so good.. I wish you guys luck on making the full game because you guys go something great going.
imagine a giant crossover where you climb a giant tower of pizza tower's gimmics n shit, and then you destroy the place from the top like antonblast with pizzaface chasing you all the way back down. epic as hell idea
I love Pizza Tower, Sugary Spire and Antonblast all use the same ticking clock sound as well as using GBA soundfonts in some way. Wario Land-like cinematic universe
