The thing is, unfortunately, he was born in the same generation when you already had players like Del Piero, Totti, Inzaghi, Vieri, Pirlo, Zambrotta, Gilardino... I bet if he were to be born a few years later, even a decade, he would have definitely made the cut for the Italian national team as a recurring striker.
@@cry2298 Totti played as winger and fantasist until he was 25, he then officially became a striker but was in fact a free player (covering all field areas ) and that is when he started to score over 20 goals almost each season almost until he retired at 40. so he too scored most of his goals starting from his late 20s

What an amazing player. I had the honor to see him live, and man, that was spectacular. Even playing with a mediocre team like udinese he never missed a pass, never failed a dribbling, never lost a ball for entire games. Zero mistakes and a world class tecnique. His movements and his shots were all incredibly smooth. He could have played for Juventus or even other top teams with his talent, but he stayed with us and helped us stay in Serie A, he is a hero here in udine.

zola invece era molto televisivo....se fosse andato in premier avrebbe dovuto dimostrare di sapersi adattare a quel calcio in cui la tecnica conta fino a un certo punto. Oltre ad averne fatti una valanga in generale, più di 200 in serie A se non sbaglio, riusciva veramente a segnare da qualunque posizione, quando aveva la palla tra i piedi poteva metterla dentro in qualsiasi modo, forse esagero, ma secondo me non ha niente da invidiare ai migliori di sempre nel suo ruolo, dal 2009 al 2011 in europa come gol segnati era dietro solo a Messi e Ronaldo
Giucas Casella grandioso anche il suo attaccamento alla maglia. Poteva benissimo fare carriera in grandi club ma a preferito celarsi e questo un po’ lo ha penalizzato in quanto a fama

Not really, he played in a time where Italys strikers were pretty bad. His downfall was that he peaked too late. He was always good until 2007 then (already at age 30) he became very good scoring 17 times in the league that season. But age 32 in 2009 he became sensational scoring 29, 28, 23, 23 times in the league in 4 years. After that he still scored 17 and 14 times. If he scored this amount of goals in his younger years he would have been the golden boy but nobody plans the future of a national team with a guy in his 30ties. And lets not forget he played in every major tournament between 2008 and 2012 and retired after that.
c'mon!! we cant even compare Miccoli to Di Natale,Miccoli was a good striker but Di Natale was outstanding 3 times best scorer serie A ( all amazing goals) Best scorer all the times into Udinese. Fenomeno. E' incredibile come si sia potuto sottovalutare un talento simile. A 30 anni suonati era molto più efficiente e performante di tanti altri colleghi più famosi ed incensati dalla stampa che a malapena segnavano su rigore e conquistavano titoloni sui giornali per prestazioni assolutamente ordinarie. Aveva praticamente tutto : tecnica, senso della posizione, fiuto del goal, visione di gioco totale. Da romanista, grande rimpianto : quando militava nell'Empoli era stato spesso accostato alla Roma e già se ne intravedeva tutto il potenziale.

He was a pure technical football genius ! You have to question the way we judge the “greatest” individual players of all time, think outside the mainstream square. Because for example players like Messi and Ronaldo although great, at big clubs are always going to have success and gather trophies. But if we judge players on pure technical ability and the influence they can have at smaller clubs, then Di Natale rates as good as those two. If you can’t understand that then you don’t understand football. His technical ability was perfect. Winning trophies at Barca and Real is mandatory, qualifying for champions league and Europe regularly with Udinese is ridiculous ! Think about it ... If Messi had scored some of these goals the internet would have broken !

Parliamoci chiaro. Nel calcio come nella vita, oltre al talento, conta trovarsi nel posto giusto al momento giusto. Se Di Natale avesse giocato gli anni trascorsi all'Udinese al Barca o al Real o in qualunque altra squadra blasonata, a quest'ora avrebbe vinto 2 palloni d'oro.
Se avesse giocato nel barca non sarebbe stato lo stesso. Totò ha trovato il suo equilibrio nella tranquillità di Udine. Non esiste l’uno senza l’altro.
It's blows my mind that he only featured 42 times for Italy. Still, it's no surprise, Baggio was only given 56 caps. Di Natale should have been a fixture in the Italy team, A forward line with him and Quagliarella/ Luca Toni, with Totti in behind supporting them would have been deadly.
