A lesson in the art of bowing. The sound uninterrupted, the bow is in an endless flow, producing such a wonderful calm, sustained sound.

One of the GREATS!! Amazing bow contouring.... Notice the 323 finger shifts on the same D-natural at 2:30ish mark... Love that, changing ever so slightly the depth of vibrato.... Not to mention the G string finish....Done all the while WITHOUT the pained facual expressions SOOOO mandatory these days, it seems....

My favorite version of this beautiful piece. Great performance. As a foreigner he came to this city, but left 26 years later as one of our own. Maestro Janigro, Zagreb will remember you.

Others have noted it is a lesson in the art of bowing, and of continuous vibrato, and I note it is also a lesson in the use of extended positions. A remarkable performance.

Such an exquisite elegance and grace. The mastery of cello or rather music which speaks beyond all through the flawless play.

Thank you!!! The name of pianist, please?

The pianist is Ginette Doyen with whom he also recorded the Debussy Sonata for the Westminster Label. She was the wife of Jean Fournier, the French violinist, brother of famous cellist Pierre Fournier, who was also a friend of Mr. Janigro's.
