Maestro Antonio Rey is simple, just like the guy next door but when he picks up the guitar ,he becomes a giant with the lethality in those powerful fingers against his magical guitar strings..He is to be treasured like sabicas, paco and other greats ...thank you maestro for enchanting us ...
I noticed that he's playing his 1982 Reyes, but he's holding his new 2007 Reyes during the interview. His concert at GSI was absolutely amazing!! I've seen several Flamenco shows (and guitarists) over the years but I've never experienced anything like Antonio Rey. I say "experienced" because he takes you on journey with his music. Antonio performs with a constant ebb and flow of the sweetest melodies mixed with jaw dropping technical ability. I've never seen a guitarist play with so much technique, yet he looked so relaxed like he was at home sitting in his own living room. On a side note: I stopped by GSI a few hours before his concert and I got to play that 2007 Reyes, then I was surprised to see him perform the entire concert with that guitar. That definitely made the show a little bit more special for me..
Saw him in Bona de la frontera last year in New York. It was a great show, he is an amazing guitarist! His online lessons are a great gift to every guitarist, not just flamenco guitarist.
Maestro AR is surely one magnificent guitarist of our generation..sky is the limit for his is exceptional talent....his picados are mesmerizing like sabicas I hope maestro antonio will put out a book with DVD and teaching the lovers of flamenco guitar some of his favorite songs and falsetas. Great work. Just a note about the subtitles: “compadre” doesn’t mean “godfather”, that would be “padrino”. “Compadre” means that he (Farru) is the godfather of Antonio's child. So you would translate it as “he's my child's godfather”. 😉
comenta la técnica de estudiar con el meñique abierto para liberar los dedos. Paco, Vicente etc...cuando pican se abre el meñique porque estudian lentamente con el meñique abierto ,ponéis delante de uno espejo y lentamente y sin tensiones controláis que el meñique no se cierre. Es una manera de liberar el dedo medio del anular que comparten el mismo tendón. El secreto mejor guardado de los flamencos jejejeje. tenéis que sentir el peso del dedo ,entonces estaréis practicando bien, y si sentéis un poco de sensación al hombro es bueno porque los dedos se mueven desde hay. y poco alcanzan buenos resultado porque otro secreto es que hay que practicar super lento asta cristalizar los movimiento y...entonces lo difícil se convierte en fácil. y además tener siempre un dedo almeno en contacto con las cuerda por la estabilidad de la mano, y el pulgar nunca a el aire ,siempre apoyando en la cuerda ,mejor sonido y estabilidad!!
@@pepelepu689 y...me olvide lo mas importante , el dedo al aire encuentra la cuerda se para en la cuerda y después la hace vibrar son dos movimiento no uno que sariá dedo al aire y de un golpe la hace vibrar, parece que dos movimiento te hace perder tiempo ,pero no es así con la practica y el tiempo se fusiona el todo y te da mucha seguridad y velocidad y calidad de sonido constante. el resultado te dodo esto hace que la mano la mayor parte del tiempo este relajada y solo hay tensión cuando se necesita, ley del mínimo esfuerzo.

If you're thinking about joining the site to learn pieces from Antonio Rey, don't bother. They've removed the tabs from the site and the instructional videos for performance pieces do not go into any detail at all. All you get is slowed down versions. It's a shame because it could have been a great website.
