I tried this outdoors saldy didn't work for me I even put 2 there. Still didn't work. I used the powder instead and that worked a treat. Checked the next day. They were gone and still are after many months
The tabs can be broken off by hand, but I find it difficult. I usually use a screwdriver to prize them off, if I’ve got one handy. I guess something like a coin would probably work too.
