This is Anvil performing their classic hit, "Metal on Metal" at the mini concert following the NYC premiere of their documentary, Anvil: The Story of Anvil. Enjoy!
You know what's so great about Anvil?- Here they've been playing this same song for almost 30 fucking years and look at this, watching them play this now, they still play it with the energy and enthusiasm like it's the very first time they've played it. They just LOVE to play. A lot of bands when they've played the same song for 30 years just go through the motions, but not Anvil, 110 fucking percent EVERY time, THAT'S why Anvil is so fucking good! You see an Anvil show, that's money baby!
@frankisfunny2007 yeah people dont like him because of what happened with Mustaine and nappster but those issues are resolved he gets involved with the fans, charities and all that and seems pretty down to earth
whats next the Killer Dwarfs documentary? I always thought Anvil was our Canadian secret. Mind you I was 14 at the time I had no idea they were so world renowned.
I heard of Anvil a long time ago but i must confess, i didn't pay much attention to them until the release of the documentary. After watching it however, I decided to support them in their big comeback. I don't consider myself a poser, as I've been a heavy metal fan for most of my life. If you're an Anvil fan you should be glad that due to the documentary they have many more fans now. If you're not, then you wouldn't really be supposrting them. What kind of fan does that make you?
@Ajax8426 yeah, but yet it's Mustaine's fault for him drinking problem, the Napster problem was Napster's problem, they didn't ask Metallica... or any other artist or band's permission
@Ajax8426 not from the Black Album to St.Anger, which are still great, but yeah, I think they deserve a shitload more then they have, I mean they are now touring the world like they did in the early 1980's, but the Big 4 left Anvil for dead, but Lars even admits that Rob (the drummer) is great
I think that lars from metallica or slash and velvet revolver or anthrax or motorhead, any of those guys that were on the story of anvil should get off the high horse and ask these guys to take them on tour and open for them... I think that metallica should be the ones, whose gonna attract more people than metallica this would be good for anvil DO IT LARS!!!!!!!!
@frankisfunny2007 yeah i love mustaine he's my hero and im not nor have been pissed at lars about that and i agree with him 100% on the nappster thing i was just saying why people dont like him
I believe in chanes -- multiple chances. I say this because I've been reading in other threads where posters were suggesting that Anvil should've disbanded long ago. Why is that so? Just because they didn't sell a ton of records and remained very, very underrated does not mean that bands don't have a right to exist and continue doing what they do best and love. The problem is not with Anvil but with us metal fans for our ignorance. However, bands like Anvil & Saxon do not disappoint.
i bought an anvil cassette when i was a kid .I thought it was pretty good Metal on Metal and the killer dwarfs heavy metal breakdown were the first true headbangers anthems of the day right up there with accept's balls to the wall . If you can watch the video for Killer dwarfs Heavy metal breakdown and you will see what real metal heads looked and sounded like before all the glam shit hit
STILL good live to this day, well unlike Metallica (and I am a HUGE Metallica fan) all the band members are not assholes (namingly Lars Ulrich), these guys need the fans they deserve, they need the fame they deserve, they need the money they deserve, yet still be heavy
@Ajax8426 I know, but without the firing of Mustaine, there would be a Megadeth vs. Metallica rivalry, but I think Lars is a so-so drummer, in my opinion, just something about him that just don't like, if the Big 4 became the Big 5, I would randomly pick Anvil, I mean, no offence to Metallica, but Anvil stayed thrash, or atleast Blues Metal
@unlikeanyotherhuman i like them but their new album is crap, for me, its too repetitive like in every song it repeats the name of that song like 50 times
