As someone who’s on the autism spectrum, and deals with anxiety often enough (not like everyday, all the time, but still often enough) I can say with confidence, that Anxiety in this movie is Spot on! Like, i love the character, but the actual emotion is such a pain to deal with, Ugh. I’ve been dealing with anxiety much more since the start of last year, and it’s Annoying to deal with. I’ve had to take medications to help me sleep at time because anxiety is such a pain in the neck. It’s also very common for autistic people to have much stronger anxiety than neurotypical people, man I hate it. I just wanna be Optimistic and calm.
I’m noticing that Joy really has a mature way of handling Anxiety within Riley’s mind-healthy compartmentalizing. Since it doesn’t show Riley needing to talk to a therapist about coping skills, it makes me think that this is probably how the minds of people without an anxiety disorder are able to self-regulate. (lucky them!) As someone with GAD, my most emotional moment during the movie was when Joy sat Anxiety down in that chair.

This is what is so great about Inside Out 2, people can relate to a lot of thse emoji's. Its one of the more relatable and accurate movies to our lives
The thing is, if any one of Riley's emotions did what Anxiety did, it would have resulted in a negative out come no matter what. If Sadness had completely take over it would have led to depression, Anger would cause her to become violent and maybe even abusive, Fear would cause paranoia, and we already saw what happened when Joy tried to control her in the first movie. The whole point of these movies is to show that all emotions are important but the trick is not let any of them dominate who you choose to be
