Lately I have been struggling with anxiety and depression again, which is really annoying. Anxiety robs us of the fun experiences we could be having, joy, fulfillment and many more good things in life. Here I share some tips to reduce anxiety and share my thoughts and experience on controlling it.
If you have some tips or advice on controlling and minimizing anxiety that I haven't listed, please share them in the comments!
I love you all!

Aw thank you Anna! This is just what I needed today!! I got a job just a few days ago and sometimes I get so anxious and nervous coz it's all new and I have to learn a lot of things and the most difficult part for me I have to talk to a lot of clients (most of them turists) and try to get them to buy our products...I struggle A LOT coz I'm a little bit shy/insecure... Hope I'll get better at it and forget all my fears and insecurities! Thanks again^^ Love, Jesi xxx

Well I "cured" my anxiety, but I really shouldn't be talking about the details(it was the worst possible way). Maybe just think of where anxiety itself leads to. Realise that you have a choice of facing it and maybe failing or giving in and never having a fighting chance to make a difference in your life. It's all easier said than done, but I do manage to logic my way out of it most of times these days. Of course exercise help a lot, boost your mood, confidence, and the adrenaline rush makes you DO things :) In conjunction with borderline personality, there's always the promise of the "ultra-high" once you get yourself to overcome obstacles. I'm kind of addicted to it by now, it's just so satisfying to fight your way through situations you are afraid of. I can hear a lot of DBT in your videos, I'm glad it helps you and there's a good body of research to support recommending these techniques to everyone with mental health difficulties. I'm due to start formalised DBT soon, fingers crossed it'll sort my head out some more ^_^ Love xxx

Hey Kadwid, thanks so much for the input! I can totally relate to "super-high after overcoming obstacles and exercise :) And I never really did DBT, only had a workbook but it's pretty helpful (I think not only for borderline though). Thanks again and good luck! lovelove xx

Thanks for the rly helpful video!! Similar to what you were saying about naming objects around you, I tend to automatically count numbers in my head when I'm anxious. Meditation is great, not even just for anxiety but for self-awareness! I'm trying to do that five minutes a day when I wake up too... The gratitude tip is great~ I'm going to start doing that :) Thanks.

Thank you! I forgot about numbers, sometimes I'd do that too! Although it makes me worry about having OCD a bit :D love xx

Anxiety is unfiltered thoughts. It doesn't mean they're completely true, though they may contain some truth. Anxiety and fear are pretty close. Fear is the body's danger response. Because of this it's very fast and loud. It tries to warn you as soon as possible so you can do something about it. Fight or flight. That's the problem with anxiety. It uses the same tactics, but doesn't refer to the same types of things. Anxiety usually stems from unfiltered thoughts. Now let me explain. Imagine when you talk to people. What you say is usually filtered as not to offend the other person. It's really hard to do with yourself because your head is where your thoughts originate. Anxiety is our fears of the future that may be based on things that happened in the past, like past trauma. (This happened before don't let it happen again!) The problem is the way the message is delivered. Since it uses the fear response it can trigger a panic attack. Basically fight or flight when there isn't anything to fight or flight from because it's in your head. It wants you to "do something right now!" about something that will probably take time to deal with or fix. Also probably something you'll have to deal with in a different place. (like when your not in line at a bank or something like that) So i think the best things to do is to understand the truth behind your negative thoughts/worry. You can't listen to what it says. You have to decipher the truth behind it. Like something common is "YOU'RE A FAILURE!" That's how it sounds in your head and then it will replay every failure(past trauma) to tell you this. This is how an unfiltered thought sounds. Very loud trying to get your attention so you'll do something about it. That's the important bit of the fear response in relation to anxiety, "to do something about it." If I'm a failure then why would my brain yell at me to do something about it? Well that's the answer isn't it. Maybe deep down you know you have the potential to do better than you have. Maybe you worry that you'll never reach that potential. That worry triggers your anxiety then fear flips all the switches to tell you, "YOU'RE A FAILURE!" However what you're actually trying to say is "I know I can do better." Fear/worry are terrible at being subtle. They are loud and unfiltered so you end up with a mess. You have to learn to understand the truth and filter your own internal dialogue. That's a bit long. I hope I got my thought across though, my head's a bit fuzzy right now.

I see your point and I agree :) The most annoying thing is that I understand where these thoughts come from and that they aren't real or true, but it takes an immense amount of energy and concentration to get rid of them and when I lose focus they come right back :D But I guess it just takes practice :) Thanks for sharing btw! xx

Sometimes it's easier to listen to the bad things because then we don't have to do anything about it. If you say "I can't" then you can't, but if you say "I could" then you have something to prove to yourself. It's easier to change what you think then to change what you believe. Belief takes devotion. I'm full of useless wisdom and happy to share. lol Well if those negative thoughts ever do get to you then remember that some random guy on the internet thinks you're pretty awesome :D

hahaha thanks so much! let's create an "I can give perfectly awesome advice and am full of wisdom please teach me how to apply it to my own life" club :D I met a girl the other day and she said that trying to fix everyone around you is a way of not dealing with own problems and running away from feelings which I found to be very true and alarming for myself :D Anyway, have a great day (or night) :D xx

That sounds like a great idea for a club. The name might need a little work though. Maybe an acronym or something? lol I feel like that's true for me as well. It always seems so much easier to fix someone else's problems then our own. It does serve to distract us but who knows maybe people were just designed to help each other. The best way I've found to apply that mindset to myself is to (incoming complicated advice) basically pretend that there's another you. The same person just another one. Then explain to them your problem, how you're feeling, etc. Be honest. Speak as if they do not know anything? Pretend that they keep asking "Why?". Then eventually you'll probe deep enough that you'll find the root of the problem. Then once you explain it all and understand it. Then give yourself advice. Then again maybe you won't have the answers but you'll probably understand yourself better. It's basically a round about way of getting to know yourself. You have a great day/night as well.
