I still think this is less lugia being broken and more of them forgetting to put a once per turn clause on archeops ability. That is legit the only problem. Putting that clause on would regulate the ability and put it on the power level of other energy acceleration mechanics and it should he capped since special energy power level is always higher then regular energy.

I think folks were/are saying the same thing about Genesect V. In terms of Archeops, it's a stage 2 fossil pokemon, an ability of that caliber feels warranted, even if it can be cheated out with Lugia.

@@CameronGerrity I agree the ability should be strong, and it is already strong at giving 2 special energy. Capping it by making it once per turn still keeps the ability strong while adjusting the abuses level of it.

You can only use the ability once per turn, but having two on the bench means 4 special energy per turn!

I ran into a deck with a NASTY tech: Professor Burnet - "Search your deck for two cards and discard them. Then shuffle your deck". I thought at least my opponent would've had to FIND the Archeops and get them into the graveyard before they could kick off Lugia's VSTAR ability but no it was stupid easy: Quick Ball for Lumineon, grab Professor Burnet, chuck the two Archeops into the graveyard... evo incense the Lugia Vstar and bring them out to accelerate whatever they want. It's actually kinda busted. Dare I say broken. (Maybe it's the archeops that is a little much)

Game 1 was nuts. And I think you are so right at 11:15 About the only decks I can see that could respond to worst case scenarios turn two is: 1. Lugia 2. Giratina 3. Mew (which is busted now with the forest tablet) 4. MAYBE Arceus Duraladon if you can set up Cheren's care fast enough

Arc/Duraludon does have to worry about Yveltal though, considering it's the card Lugia players started teching en masse to prevent the matchup from being unwinnable.

Beedrill is alright but honestly if you want to counter Lugia vstar just start playing Duraludon vmax with Arceus cause Lugia literally can't do a thing against Duraludon vmax cause of it's skyscraper ability plus if you attach a big parasol then the yveltal can't touch you either so at that point it's checkmate.

Till that path comes out lugia after vstar needs no abilities and can turn off when needed and tool jammer yveltal will kill duralodon with parasol and most time the see a duralodon v expect them hold that vacuum for parasol

@@michaelwarren7208 actually Lugia would be putting radiant Charizard out of play if a path was put down. Most Lugia decks will only run collapsed stadium typically don't see path in there builds. The only thing I would expect to get past duraludon vmax is using yveltal with tool jammer or just lost vacuum either would work. Other than that Lugia doesn't have any answers to duraludon vmax.

Standard really upsets me at times. I was playing today and it was just whiff city and top deck mode all day long while my opponents were hitting 200 plus damage turn 2 and finding their boss orders easily. I was also losing coin flips like crazy. Not a good day on ptcgo today.

Yeah it's crazy annoying sometimes, fully loaded v round 2 almost ruins the game for less or non v decks. Kinda sucks to have a few decks that you have to use if you want to stand a chance

I almost think it’s the items from the sword and shield era that break most things. Evo incense, scoop up net, and quick ball are all too good. They speed the game up tremendously or enable stupid combos.

@@leokiralla4449 literally just do Primal Turbo once, 2 PC Energies and then it's doing 160 base, 190 to Vs with a Belt. Not that you /want/ to do that but if you find yourself in the position of having to, then picking off a smaller threat is super easy.

Considering that you only have 1 tool removal card in your deck (Lost Vacuum) and no Path to the Peak, I think the standard Arceus VSTAR + Duraludon VMAX deck with Big Parasol teched in would counter it even if you drew godlike like your first game. I think that deck will definitely be making a comeback in this meta

Evo Incense and Ultra Balls find the Archeops with no trouble at all imho, and Serena is a sweet way to dump them if you have to use an Ultra to grab them

Lugia doesn’t really have the time to be playing such slow supporters usually. As long as you play 4 archeops and your ball + serena count are high, you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting the archeops in the bin.

They work in tandem. To play arcehops without lugia vstar is hell to set up. Its a two stage evolution. You wont be able to set up two stage in current meta without any kind of acceleration.

Not really. Arcehops would never have been a problem card without Lugia, however, if there is ever a stage 2 with broken poképowers Lugia V Star would have became a problem either way. The problem effect in this situation is therefore Lugia V Star's effect as the existence of Lugia V Star makes it so that they can never print a playable Stage 2 Normal monster.

in all my ST decks i have at least 2 Temple of Sinnoh against Lugia. In my humble opinion such cards destroy the game even more as it Mew VMAX did. I miss the old days and i play more and more Legacy. Maybe Pokemon get it and putts an GLC mode in. That would help. In Expanded LittleDarkFury had a combo what is 99% game over turn 1 if you go second. That is not funny.
