My dad always said that these sharpeners damage the blade and that I should use a whetstone instead. Did you notice it eating away on the blade? Anyways, love your review style mate :)

Not exactly, but after about 3 years my feeling was that it wasn't working as well as before. Can I ask what you liked about the review: so I can keep doing more of that?

Ten months late. Being completely honest, I just can't be fucked using a stone and doing it properly. I wouldn't do it on any of my expensive knives which is why I just plan on buying some cheap knives that if this sort of thing ruins the steel so to speak then I've lost practically nothing. That said, have you ever tried running it front to back rather than back to front? By this I mean pushing then knife forwards rather than pulling it backwards. If it isn't designed to do this, would turning it around allow it to be possible?

Kyle, we didn't do what you suggest because the manufacturer explicitly instructs everyone to do it as you see me doing it in the video. Therefore, it wouldn't be fair on the manufacturer to test it by deliberately doing the "wrong" thing. I can only assume the manufacturer feels the best chance of success is how you see in the video. It was successful for 3 years in my opinion. Thanks for you interest in the review

@@handsonreview I didn't intend to make my comment a suggestion I thought I was asking a question. Regardless I bought one from Asda on Wednesday because I saw one looking for something else and said fuck it. I almost didn't because of reviews that I have read suggests it isn't very good. That said people typically spend their time to make a complaint as opposed to those who like it / who it worked for leaving a positive review. I definitely wouldn't use it for expensive knives. Some cheap knives that you don't care about ruining the edge on will suffice. It will definitely change the bevel. Anyway, I used them on some cheap knives. They were unbelievably blunt, you could genuinely run it relatively hard across your skin and it wouldn't do anything. I ran them through around fifty times and they didn't feel particularly sharp. I tried the paper test but it more tore than cut but I suspect that was somehow user failure. As I used it to slice a tomato for lunch and it cut it nicely. Was pretty happy with the overall end product. I have both whetstones and diamond stones but I honestly can't be fucked to use them at the moment, so this product for £9 was a nice grab all things considered. Cheers.

Kyle, yes, that's the conclusion I come to in the video: a safe buy for the money they're asking
