Because she’s grounded and she’s veryyy intellectual -no matter how someone looks you shouldn’t let it consume you because once you understand that looks are temporary and don’t mean for much it’s kind of a break-free. Your looks are not a choice and she knows it and chooses to not let it inflate her ego.

Another thing is she knows it’s an advantage but sometimes when people are generally good looking, some people see it as a hinderance and they wanna make sure they are respected for more( if they’re not narcissistic.)

This is why at the end of the movie the kidnapper lets her go noticing she is an sbuse victim and why she gets the courage to seek help for the abuse when she refuses to get out of the cop car knowing her uncle is at the house.
