My personal experience with Anycubic support has been great as well. Respond within one working day. My first photon resin printer arrived with a defect out of the box, I cant even remember which part was broken after these years, something with the z axis but they sent me a replacement right away. Similar experience with the kobra max except the x axis limit stopper sensor broke after 5 or 6 months and they still sent me a replacement part free of charge. They seem to be very invested in customer satisfaction and I have no issues being their customer. Also thanks for your videos, the nozzle and e-step calibration guide was much appreciated.

Just a heads up, the Kobra Max and the vyper are mostly exactly the same except for the build volume. For the profile you can use the vyper and just change the build area to 400x400x450 and you're off to the races. As for the cube, it is measured on the letter face and its oppsite side so you ended up measuring Z twice and X. For the fan issue, you can print with a large brim/raft or just move the print to not be directly above the bed thermistor. Happy printing =D
@TheMakersCave
@TheMakersCave 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! From my research before buying I pretty much considered the Max just being a bigger Vyper. I considered just using the Vyper profile and changing but after Anycubic confirmed the firmware was different than the Vyper I chose to create one from scratch, plus I just wanted to see if I could do it :)

That's the reason I bought the Max, I need to print large items for my Halloween prop and robotics projects. My wife absolutely loves our Ender 3 Pro, it's her favorite printer. You are measuring the calibration cube wrong. To measure the X you need to measure from the face that says X to the opposite side, for the Y from the face that has theY to its opposite side, and the Z from the face that says Z to its opposite side. You measured the Z twice and called it the Y and X. What you said is the Z measurement is actually the X.

The setting depend on what what filament type you're using (PLA, ABS, PETG, etc..). The test prints are on the SD card that was sent with the printer, just use an SD card reader on your computer to read the card. They are pretty inexpensive on Amazon or any office supply store.

Other than the build volume, do you have a recommendation on which printer I should go for? The CR10 Max or this one. I have been doing research and both have their ups and downs. But your video has shown realistic results when using this printer.
@TheMakersCave
@TheMakersCave Год назад
My first printer was the Ender 3 Pro and it's still in service today, it's my Wife's favorite printer. There are several models of the CR-10 so I'm not sure which one you're looking at. I think Creality makes dependable machines. The Pro I have only needed a hot end after 4 years of constant printing, not bad. The CR-10 S5 is the largest and has auto leveling. I was looking at a large Creality but went with the Kobra Max simply because I have the Vyper, which I was happy with, and the Max is basically a larger version of the of Vyper. If I were to order another large format printer, I would probably order a Creality just to see if there was a difference in printing, that and the Creality CR-10 S5 has a whopping 500 x 500 x 500 build area. I don't think I helped you decide at all, I would be comfortable with either.
@artificialtanuki
@artificialtanuki Год назад
@@TheMakersCave Yes the CR-10 max is just a little smaller than the CR-10 S5 with the dimensions being 450 x 450 x 470. From what research I have done, the S5 is good but it is costly in the end with certain fixes like a better heat plate to heat the bed. I just ran across this one as it is more affordable, so I was just hoping for an opinion between the Kobra and the Max

Hi, thanks for watching, I appreciate. If the x axis is shifting then there might be a problem with the x axis motors, belts, or gears. With the printer turned off manually move the head back and forth and see if you can feel something moving or jumping, something could be misaligned or the belt is bad. I would also check the x axis wiring/cabling to make sure everything is secured and not pinched, that might cause the stepper motor to loose it's position.

Yes, it would be nice if linear advance was in the firmware, but you can tweak the print to avoid majors blobs. I also have found that it runs a little hot, so I just back my temperature down when I slice my object, usally by about 30 degrees. I haven't encountered many stringing problems, but that may be becasue of what i print (a lot of boxes). I bought this for two reasons. We have a Halloween prop business and I needed the size for some things. I am also a robotics hobbyist and the build size lends its self to the big parts I need to print. If there are some defects in the print I just sand them or touch them up. I still stand behind my statement that this is the best printer when you compare cost to print size.

@@TheMakersCave Yea thats what I am thinking, the only other one to look into is the sovol sv03. but it's smaller but cheaper. Firmware should be out eventually or whatever they are chatting about for marlin so there is still hope. I just want to mass print props for the game room, cosplay suits, and other random containers. So, I think I'll gamble with this thing and some of the complains I might be able to adjust for. Thanks

Whats the best filament to use for anycubic kobra max

I print mainly in PETG because I need durable parts. So far it has handled PETG fine.

This printer is a POS I spend more time trying to get it to work. Correctly than anything my mk3 I can mees with it to my heart's content and I can still dial it in to near perfection but this one 3 great prints out of 10 bad ones had a mind of its own

I use the Max mostly for really large prints and it's works well for that, but I have to admit that, except for large prints, my Prusa Mini+ is my go to printer right now. It just prints everything perfect. I just wish Prusa made a printer for large scale objects. With their print technology it would be a fantastic printer.
