This is my favorite song by Dax so far. He’s honestly very talented lyrically but he wrote this song and explained Depression pretty accurately. Let me know what’s next guys! Don’t forget I’m here if you need me.

I needed this! Past two years, I've lost 230lbs. went from 490-260. Was recently working two jobs, going to the gym 3-4 times a week, living life like I never been able to experience before in my life, Happy, motivated, Life was great. Then mid-October I got crazy sick and then found out I have blood clots in my lungs, I've been out of work since and I haven't even been able to hit the gym and now I've been drinking pretty heavy lately, stuck in a rut and listening to this song from Dax and listening to you talk about your experience with depression has inspired me to stop drinking and to get off my ass and get uncomfortable again and live my life the way it's meant to be lived. It may be hard, and it may take me some time to bounce back but I'm going to fight for it. I apricate you Cliff for reacting to this amazing Song. It feels like I was meant to see this. Thanks

Mens mental health has been overlooked for way to long growing up it wasn't ok to have a problem let alone ask for help. You were labeled as crazy a problem child little did they know the problem was the system and the labels given. It was always your supposed to be a man and deal with it. Glad to see the tides are turning and it's OK to talk about life.

It's a beautiful song. Really grasps the feelings of depression. Therapy and training your brain is the best way out...but medication can be used to help balance the chemicals in your brain. Sometimes there's the need for medication...and sometimes has to be changed, but be aware that meds take up to 3 months to make a difference... Never give up! I was able to overcome depression and it took years of hard work. But it is possible! And remember that your past is what you'll someday look at and think: I'm this person now because of what I've learnt during my life.... And yes, you'll be proud of yourself!

Thank you for this Evian! Such an important conversation. I manage depression also and it is night and day difference how I feel having found treatment that works for me. It’s like having a heavy, damp, grey blanket filled with lead lifted from me. For me it’s been a combination of medication (which took some trial and error), coaching (which helped me build new skills for managing thoughts and emotions) community (finding people I can relate to), and self-study/mindfulness/seeking out things that I enjoy and that interest me, etc, like this channel! I want to add that it didn’t take months for me to feel relief. It did take longer to find the right mix for me, but quickly I saw the possibility that was on the other side. I also have ADHD (very late diagnosed!) and an anxiety disorder, so we’re all different and no one has the right answer for anyone else. Anyone out there reading this, don’t look to what one person says is true for them and think it’s supposed to be true for you. That’s just not true. No one can say what’s true for you but you. And don’t deny your own reality when you know what you’re experiencing. (Not at all saying Evian/original commenter was doing this but rather I’ve seen too many people making such declarations and would leave me feeling worse for not being able to be like them!) Oh and one last thing for the medication-resistant (or people that aren’t able to take certain medications) - Some people do make major progress through therapies like CBT, trauma therapy, or alternative therapies and/or natural supplements and dietary changes. Also something less commonly discussed, some people find they can take medication temporarily and then ween off of it and maintain the changes. I just want people to know there are so many different options to explore and hope many more of you find the right ones for you. I find that people with depression tend to be very compassionate, talented people with so much offer and we want and need you in the world.❤

Everyone in this video and in the comments, if you feel this song, if you've been where they are, if you're there right now, I hear you. I've been there. The best you can do will change every day, and thats OK. If its all you can do to just survive another day, to do ONE thing, even if you can't bring yourself to more than half-ass it, that's still more done than if you gave up or never started. 50% of a job is better than 0% and something to be proud of, not beat yourself up about. You might feel like you're on a spiral with the weight of the world pushing you downwards, downward may feel easier, even comfortable in the familiarity of your darkness, but the great thing with spirals is spirals go both ways. It might not be easy, it might not be a quick road, it might take time to build up momentum, but you can always walk up the spiral again. And even if you slip or fall off, just don't give up. Ever. You owe it to yourself. Your past self, present self and future self, to get back on the spiral and start again. Maybe you fell a few steps, maybe you tumbled far. The spiral of your life doesn't end for good unless you decide it does. So take some time, find your feet again, forgive yourself or whatever situation made you misstep, climb back on, and keep walking up. You've got this. You'll get there. You are greater than the sum of your experiences and tribulations. I am proud of you, and I hope this helped. Have a blessed day.

And look, I'm having panic attacks today, I'm going through this huge pain on my throat and chest right now... I just moved, my 92 yo grandma just broke her hip and a backbone, I'll be playing at a big venue the day after tomorrow and even though me and the rest of the band always nail it... I'm anxious. They've already played there, I never had the chance because I have to deal with a chronic physical illness.... Even though I know it's always good...look: panic attacks, anxiety... We're all a work in progress. But you know, we're always ready to deal with stuff once they come... Been through a lot, and I'm still here! Go go magic human power!

Great song and great reaction. Thank you for always having your inbox open. You've been a huge help. Unfortunately for me, I require medication as well as therapy in order to function. I'm glad that talking about mental health is becoming less taboo as people become more educated. I remember trying to talk to my mother about it when I was younger and she told me that she had a mother who was mentally ill and wouldn't deal with with a daughter who was. Times are hopefully changing for the better. Speaking of young parents, I'd love to get your take on Eminem's Mockingbird.

A year ago I had up to about 13 panic attacks within two days. Ended up going to the hospital just to make sure it wasn't something else. Hasn't happened like that since then. A couple attacks, but nothing that bad. Problem for me is the issues giving me that level of anxiety are here for life. Learning to cope has been nearly impossible. There's some depression mixed in there too.. I'm getting a little better. Seem to be anyway. Idk, there are times where I'm not sure if I'm still here because I'm too scared to die, or just brave enough to keep living. 🤷‍♂️ I like this song.

Awesome reaction cliff. As someone who has depression and struggles to put the bottle down dax’s song dear alcohol hit me deep and is helping me to not drink. It was that song that lead 2 him writing this track. I highly recommend checking that song out. Also I know it’s a super long track but the next rap god 2 is full of bars and to be honest a masterpiece.

OMG , what you said happened to you at Walmart!! I have help that takes and goes shopping with me because my anxiety is so vicious that I freeze, can't think, read, move, add, I have a nervous twitch where I rub my middle finger and thumb together. I am so excited (that just sounds ...wrong LOL not sure how else to say it) that you will actually know what I am explaining and at least somewhat how I feel. everyone is different. Certain sounds kick panic/anxiety attacks in. When I was younger 19-20 they did stress, ekgs, and others with electrodes on my head, etc, tests because the docs thought I was having mini heart attacks. It was my panic/anxiety being that bad. Life adding chaos combined that with the previous symptoms +. Needless to say, it is extreme. Thank you for being real about mental health!! It's much appreciated as are your reactions. Be Safe and Well.

My grandfather (whom I loved deeply) had this joke. Went like this. "In the old days, do you know what they called a kid with ADHD? ... A good worker." I repeated that joke for YEARS. Grew up around him. Didn't know any better. Wasn't until high school that I realized there was something wrong with that joke. Now, at 37, I'm diagnosed ADHD. No idea if he would have stopped telling that joke or not. I miss him still, but sometimes I wonder how he would look at me now.

this song sums up the majority of my life. i had a dad that was from the walk it off or suck it up era. it fucking sucked being a teenager with that. he also did nothing to help me build self-confidence. I'm fine with some of the results, but i don't know how to deal. I'm scared to feel happy because of the worry of what bad is gonna show up. my family abandoned me decades ago. i literally reached out for the first time to a sister and her response was to drop me off at a half way house that very same day , like i was trash. that just about killed me. i broke down so bad i hyperventilated for the first to at 39. after years of being told if i needed anything just reach out and when i actually did, when all i needed was them, was family. i end up worse, but I'm still here thankfully adapting a mindset of is that all you've got? if half the things I've gone through hasn't killed me yet, i know i can handle more but it's really fucking hard sometimes.

Depression takes away your ability to see positivity resulting in your mind only being able to see darkness that clouds your thoughts. Wich causes you to lock yourself up in your safezone while taking a hold on your mindset keeping it stagnant and creating a circle that keeps you in a loop of negativity.. Breaking that circle and recognizing your personal patterns that keep you in that state, is one of the hardest things to do... The people who don't know what it is like to be in a real depression are the ones saying you "just gotta toughen up" and "stop thinking so negative". But the key to getting rid of it is finding out where the real roots of your depression are and how it started. So you can understand what it is that causes it. And the moment you find that out, is the moment you can truely start making changes and break out of these chains and get rid of these negative mind patterns. You can learn to anticipate beforehand how to avoid getting in these situations that can cause your depression to stay. I had a depression and it took me almost 5 very painful and long years to learn this for myself. But don't ever give up!! Because as long as it may seem to take sometimes, we can all do it and get stronger out of it as a person, with immense personal growth and also grow in self knowledge. My therapist always said; even if moving forward takes babysteps, those are still steps forward. And that is what counts

hi cliff will you do a reaction to any of the following suggest ions Citizen Soldier "songs Irreplaceable Run Away From Myself Bedroom Ceiling Let it Burn Pretend My Pain Away Never Ending Nightmare here is a little bit of info about the band leader Lead Vocalist Jake Segura grew up in a small town where his taste in music was not appreciated, so he never pursued songwriting seriously as a teenager. He became further discouraged from the industry after being kicked out of his first band because of his lack of vocal ability. As a college student, he began to struggle with manic depression, anxiety, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. After spending days in bed at a time and flunking out of school, he found himself too afraid to ask for help for fear of the judgement of others. In November 2015, he attempted suicide. Segura penned the lyrics to Let It Burn on a napkin from his hospital bed, a song that would be released on the band’s debut E.P. Caroline. That experience gave him the drive to finally take his pursuit of music seriously, with a strong desire to write music that would help combat mental illness stigma and help others struggling to know they are not alone

I use to think that depression was a chemical imbalance in the brain, but only 10% of serotonin is produced in the brain, serotonin is actually produced in the intestines which also makes it responsible for IBS and other gut and bowel related problems. So it’s understandable as to why 1 in 4 people suffer from depression , because of the crap they class as food they make us eat. Anyhoo great song. May the grey cloud keep at bay .. 🫶🏻
