Sparks instantly fly when Barrow meets Guy Dexter (Dominic West), a silent film star working on a new motion picture at Downton Abbey!
Downton Abbey: A New Era: In 1928, Tom Branson (Allen Leech), the Earl of Grantham's widowed son-in-law, marries Lucy Smith (Tuppence Middleton), the illegitimate daughter of and sole heir to Lady Maud Bagshaw, Queen Mary's lady-in-waiting. Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith), the Dowager Countess of Grantham, astonishes the family by revealing that long ago she was gifted a villa in the South of France by the Marquis de Montmirail, who has recently passed away. She is leaving it to her great-granddaughter, Sybbie, Tom's daughter with the late Lady Sybil Crawley, to ensure that she has a more equal social and financial standing to her cousins. The principal cast of the first film returned. Joining the cast are Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, Dominic West and Jonathan Zaccaï.

Don't forget Thomas got a Dear John letter from Richard Ellis in this picture. Thomas might have been afraid of another let down. Even if clearly Guy was offering Thomas a real commitment; one of the things Thomas had always wanted. Still anyone who knows Thomas, can understand he just doesn't want another disappointment😢😢😢.

Yes 😭 And thats what i Love about Guy, He was so carefull and paticent with Thomas 💛 I really think they are a true Love Match, even If they start Out very slowly

@@marionarda2790 If he stayed at Downton he could never be with a man. And he desperately wanted love with a man. Guy never once demanded anything. He asked several times to not call me sir but didn't demand it. And on leaving with him he just said you think about it and let me know. How is that demanding he abandon everything 🙄

@@marionarda2790 but it could have not worked with Richard, if he didn’t leave, like Green Toad said. one way or anot, he has to leave downtown, and not sure Richard would survive it in his business too. Guy is in film business, more likely more flamboyant a and he is in america, where things were more open than rural england.

I really like the idea of Thomas falling in love with a dashing actor staying at Downton, but the whole thing feels horribly rushed in its execution. There should’ve been something deeper for them to bond over in a short period of time. But their few conversations feel much too shallow to be the basis of a long-term relationship. I hope the third film will give them the development they need.

Yeah... They were so Happy that Ellis dumped him with a goddam Letter, to marry some Girl 🙂 Guy was honest and very carefull. He started out slowly and i really think this was excatly what Thomas needed. And yes he did not kiss Guy, but who knows whats Up for them in season 7 👀 Mabey they are going to pay Downton a visit 👀

Imagine Richard shows up after he got married; not knowing Thomas had already left for America. And Mrs. Carson explains to him that Thomas wanted a commitment and not an occasional fling.

It's a chance for him to be with a man and not be found out. Actor or not. This is what he's desperately wanted. If he stayed at Downton he could never be with a man .

Would you rather he stay in Downton for the rest of his life, unhappy, alone, no chance at having a romantic relationship, no opportunity to better himself in status and financially? No matter how it turns out in America, Thomas needed to get out of his comfort zone, he deserved to have adventures and new beginnings and most of all, love. I imagine if things didn't work out, he would always be welcomed back at Downton ❤️

I have to agree with the others, the man hated that he was alone and no one could commit to a relationship with him. I think it's a good start on a new chapter in his life, I think he'll do just fine, America will hardly throw anything at him that he hasn't endured in Britain.
