I really liked Dave's hike into that slot canyon...how long was that canyon? And Carrie got to see her fresh flower bloom....I could see how delighted she was and I was so happy for her! Too bad about dogs being restricted on trails...but I think we all understand why. (What about cats?). As always, you both really demonstrate truly professional-quality photography...so enjoyable. Thanks for the lovely video! (Oh Dave: super cool glasses dude!)
The wildflower bloom was stunning to see. Along with the Desert Sunflowers, and two Verbena species, there were also Desert Poppies (the larger white papery petals). Dave, I'm so glad you took us through the slot canyon because that super tight area would have made me do a quick 180. I really enjoyed seeing that area through your eyes, but have to agree with you - cooler temps and mountain streams, meadows appeal to me much more. Thanks for sharing - stay well and safe travels.
My sister and I spent three nights in Borrego Springs, 13 years ago, and we loved the area. We had both been to the state park before, many years previous. We were also there in Feb; we did the Palm Canyon hike, and yes it was warm in the middle of the day! We did a lot of rock scrambling on that hike; don’t know if we got off trail or if it had been washed out. But we made it to the palms and it was really nice.
Before 2019, my colleagues and I would take our 3rd grade classes to Anza Borrego every year to the museum and also hike the Palm Canyon Trail to the grove - I'm a teacher in Brawley. One year, I had to carry a student part-way back to the bus (piggy back) after she had an asthma attack while we were on the trail. Fortunately, she had her inhaler with her, but it was scary! Thank you for taking us along on your adventure, those flowers are beautiful!
Dave’s comment about someone having never been there and just finding that water source … inspired me to watch the rest of the video with that in mind. Imagine seeing that wildflower bloom unexpectedly. ✌️❤️🚐
I absolutely love y’all’s videos! Seeing all of the nature and beauty gives me such joy and peace! The videography , music, and editing are top notch! Thank you!
Beautiful area. Desert blooms are just simply amazing. I'm so happy for you Carrie 😊. What I appreciate most about your channel is your love of natural things: clouds and gorgeous skies, rocks, flowers, birds and wildlife, wild edibles, all things water, and just the lure of wild places and what's around the next bend. I so connect with you on all of that. Oh, and of course, ROODLE!! 😄 Thanks guys. Take care, safe travels and Happy Easter!! 🥰♥️ ☀️🌴🌼🌄🌸🌵☀️
Yay! I so happy you got to Anza Borrego. It is an amazing desert and one of my two favorite desert areas. The variety of every kind of desert plant is very special. Glad you got to see some blooms too! I am also very pleased to see that they have closed off the palm grove in Palm Canyon. When I was there so many years ago, the entire grove was so trampled from over use that the palms were dying. Love love love those wildflowers and the Slot Canyon hike was really great Dave! Very cool. Thanks for sharing this with us Carrie and Dave!
I enjoy drinking my coffee on Saturday mornings while I watch your videos. Thanks for taking us along on your hikes. Scenery was absolutely amazing. The flowers were so pretty.
Stunning! So happy that you found your Super Bloom. Many years ago my wife and I hiked Palm Canyon and came across a herd of Peninsula Big Horn Sheep. We put on our poncho’s and hunkered down. The herd grazed all about us. It was magic. Safe travels.
OMG! Y'all keep improving and your photography, choice of music 😊 You find the most amazing places & you literally take us with you 😎 Thank you❣️ Carrie-you were blessed with Easter flowers 🙏🙌❣️
If you like art of every kind, that park is not far from Palm Springs which is full of art galleries of every kind. Likely most of the installation art came from artists in the area. Palm Springs also has a lot of movie star second or retired homes. Also every kind of shop and restaurant. Southern California has had an exceptionally wet rainy season this year. Don't count on that water being there if you visit there. Bring plenty of your own water. Another way to remove cholla (pronounced "choya") is to use two sticks like chopsticks on either side to flick the spiney ball away.
Thank you for your video! I'm going to be the first attempt camper so am researching all the info! I understand you're using/driving your RV for camping at Anza-Borrego, but me and my bf will be using Jeep plus extended tent on primitive campground (so supposed to be free too!) Question I want to ask here is it safe/normal that we can leave our tent but drive our cars around to different sceneries/activities (so we don't loose the tent spot we pick)? Plan to be there two nights.. thanks in advance!
Yes it’s safe to leave your tent. We do this every now and then😃 our rule of thumb is DO NOT leave anything in the tent that you would miss if someone was to steal it. This includes the tent…. If your tent is super expensive it might be a good idea to buy a cheap Walmart tent. Most of the time nobody bothers it…. But it only takes that one time to ruin your day.
There were 2 idiots hitting golf balls into a canyon off Palm canyon drive. there were cars on that fun road and people hiking where those 2 dumb dumbs were hitting balls down. we take a lot of road trips between our fulltime jobs.
If you want to camp in the campground it was $35 a night. We DID NOT stay in the campground, we stayed a few miles outside of town where dispersed camping was allowed for free! We would have considered staying one night but it was all booked up. There was one awesome camp site right at the trail head along with showers, trash, water and dump. It would have been worth it for one night but $35 is still more than we like to pay.
@@oneadVANtureatatime Well that surely would have been a good deal to be able to use the dump, take a shower, dump your trash and get fresh water all included in the price for $35.
