Righteous Eats and AOC came together like Gotenks to deliver y’all a message: VOTE!
If you’re a registered voter in New York, go out and vote on Tuesday, November 8th.
It was a full circle moment to discuss the impact of voting with AOC, as the Q66 passed by outside @eveliastamales 🫔 on Northern Boulevard. Evelia’s story of immigrating, selling tamales out of a street cart, and her perseverance to keep her first brick and mortar going during the pandemic deserves much celebration. It’s another shining example of the American dream, the journey that Jaeki’s family-who immigrated to the States in ‘98-and many other folks in Queens and beyond strive to achieve.
Having a say, whether big or small, in who gets to represent you and your community, can directly impact small business owners like Evelia, as well as immigrant families similar to Jaeki’s who are seeking better opportunities.
If you haven’t already, we encourage everyone who’s reading this to learn about who represents them both on the state and federal levels. Get familiar with your local council, assembly, and congressional districts. And make your own informed decision to vote on who you see as the best fitting representatives that align with your beliefs.
One last thing. Evelia’s tamales are incredible. AOC and #righteouseats agree: The mole tamale is essential.
Peace and blessings. #gotv
