The feudal age aoe2 man at arms into archer build order aoe2 is as follows:-
6 vills to sheep
4 to wood (with LC)
1 boar
1 build 2 houses then berries
5 berries (lure the 2nd boar with a villager from boar)
2 boar
1 build barracks then to wood
2 gold
Loom
Click up
Move 4 villagers from sheep to wood with a new lumber camp
make 3 militia
once sheep have ran out, make 4 farms and send 1 to wood
IN FEUDAL
research man at arms
2 new villagers to wood
8 new villagers to gold
research double bit axe & horse collar
make 2 ranges plus blacksmith
research fletching

Oops! Error with the on screen build order, once clicking to feudal, move 4 from sheep to wood with a new lumber camp. Correct build order in description. Apologies! :-)

Which civilizations do you think work best with this build order and strategy?

Most civs tbh. But mainly those that you want to go for crossbow with in castle age. But it’s still good for a civ like franks where you will want to go for a knight/skirm composition

minor correction, 5 on berries at min 2:54 but it says 4 on the yellow script

Do you need 4 farms or can I do 2-3 to make ranges earlier? How many are needed to sustain villager build and fletching/double bit upgrades?

Give it a try vs AI. I would suggest that you need the 4 farms. You need 6 to maintain constant villager production.

why would you wall if you are attacking ? you would just waste ressources that can be useful for more army production

you arent supposed to wall in dark age. you use the time you get from man at arms drush or sc to wall. its a big waste of res to wall early.

i've been trying out this build, and have a quick question is n't 10 on gold a bit much for two archer production? I usually see people say 7 or 8 on gold is enough.

Hey! You’re right, straight archer builds normally have 8 on gold. This is the Cicero build order. I expect It’s so that you can keep maintaining production quickly and get the upgrades and save up for castle. Ordinarily you wouldn’t use the gold you have on the militia and the men at arms upgrade. If you find you’re floating too much gold, just adapt the build so that you just have 8 instead :-)

Does this work better against human opponents or what. I like that build and practice it often against extreme AI - unfortunately, by time i start creating my archers, swordsman are already dead :D

It’s another tricky build but not as bad as the drush. You see it a lot at higher level but i still prefer a scout rush

Hey do you think it is possible to apply this build order with the Cumans but use battering rams + man at arms instead of going full archers?

I would expect so. Perhaps less villagers on gold and more on wood

I follow this, and literally just practice until I hit feudal and am sending men at arms, then restart. I struggle to get a sub 11 minute feudal time. What am I missing?

Town centre not working constantly? If you download capture age and then view your replay you can see how much time your town center wasn’t doing anything
