This has been a problem for NHL hockey players AND NHL commentators for years. When the NHL goes to IIHF (international competitions), you have international referees enforcing the rules as they should be enforced. Because NHL rule enforcement is so arbitrary, the NHL players and the commentators are flabbergasted at what is and isn't a penalty.
the most theyll do is watch full game highlights and have this image of guys never missing or making mistakes. makes sense why they think this is the most skilled era, theyre watching highlight reels nonstop
This is what I speak on, everyday. This is the identity that society is beginning to embrace. No accountability, and change the rules to fit their narrative.
@@silk-24-72 "This is really the generation of no accountability and self-entitlement": No, it's an entire country of no accountability and self-entitlement. The "generational" bit is just another narrative to avoid looking at the larger problem. Guaranteed, most people in here harping about the rules -- abandon them on a daily basis when their interests are at stake. So once again, the idea that they really care about rules is another narrative -- allowing them to pounce on other people with ease (while flagrantly ignoring their own behavior). "This is what I speak on, everyday." Why? What is your objective? Presumably, you'd like to see things change -- but are you willing to put any serious time and effort into anything that could actually make that happen? And if you're not, what's the point? Just for fun? If you don't have any ideas on what can be done, that's one thing. But if someone comes along with an idea on what we could do, and you don't take the time and effort to consider what they have to say -- just how concerned could you really be? And that goes for everyone.
mans cant shoot..no dribble package...no layup package. Inconsistent defender..3 seconds in the lane every play, HORRIBLE ft shooter,, Turnover prone, not clutch at all ....the list literally goes on
Dear Stans: He's not goat, stop thinking or saying that. A GOAT RESPECTS the rules! A GOAT does not pick and choose which matchups he takes on (Oh KAT AND Gobert are out? My ankle's fine again!). A GOAT doesn't sit out multiple games because of a little boo boo. A GOAT doesn't let his teammates play 4 v 5 on defense while he stands around like a traffic cone. A GOAT doesn't complain all the goddamn time (without EVER getting techs!). A GOAT doesn't flop all over the court. A GOAT doesn't TRAVEL and does not activate FREIGHT TRAIN MODE! For all those reasons and soooo many more: HE. IS. NOT. GOAT.
Dear MJ Stans.. MJ is the GOAT, you can still give credit to lebron it’s okay he’s not gona take the precious title of goat from your favorite player lmao quit crying u look like women
I see the problem here AOH, is that you don't have a copy of the other NBA rulebook that applies only to LeBron. It's only one page and it just states, "Let him do whatever he wants: travel, double dribble, throw the ball off Jamal Murray's face, elbow people, run them over at full speed, take all of the PED's, insult the refs, tamper with free agency, flop like a boated trout, publicly blame everyone else for his failures, disrespect the history of his team and of the league, lie constantly, whatever, it's all cool."
Flop like a boated trout lol. Yo, you gotta forgive me if I use that. I'll always remember where I got it from though, and I won't ever claim to have come up with it. Thanks
I am guessing Gordon swiping at the ball in real speed confused them. If the play were challenged a turnover would've been called. Then again, the way the refs help the Lakers who knows.
lol they couldn't even handle the media in the 90's era. "Lebron is the most scrutinized athlete of all time..." Right...that's why they crucified Barry Bonds for doping rumors, Jordan for his father's death, Lance Armstrong, Jose Canseco, Mark McGuire, Rodger Clemmons, etc. etc. etc.
@@billybobby5247hell Tom Brady faced as much scrutiny as LeBron, he just kept winning so the haters had to be quiet. LeBron gives these people the ammunition by being a horrible leader, teammate, and always crying to the refs.
I believe the current Era is more skilled than is eras past but there's also a lot if rules that just aren't enforced any longer. This video is evidence of that, with healthy servings of favoritism
There isn’t any defense everyone can drive straight to the basket or get uncontested 3’s it’s got a wider birth than the Grand Canyon. Pathetic it’s like wcw fake ass shit.
The "eh, close enough" mentality of modern day basketball fans is incredible. Oh, he took 3 steps? Eh, close enough. Oh, he picked up his dribble, only to start his dribble again? Eh, close enough. I can't believe any players from the 80s or 90s can even watch the league today. How can guys like Reggie Miller watch and commentate these modern games without calling BS? He has to see what we see, there is just no way he doesn't.
You can find video clips of Lebron going from the free throw line to the restricted area without taking a dribble. When I played basketball growing up in school during the early 90s you took an extra step and it was a travel. Today it's not enough that players get the benefit of a gather step. They take multiple gather steps, stop and restart their dribble, and carry the ball often on the same possession. Younger fans think this is how you play the game. SMH
Then they say that todays players have better handles and are more skilled, when these would all be violations before. Between all the carrys, travels and then the illegal screens, it’s a terrible product
When we are elderly, those younger le generations are going to be raising children to become worse than them. The future of earth is in their hands some day....
And sadly the nba SHOULD be the one holding these players to the highest standard of following the rules. It’s the professionals. The best of the best. These are the people young kids learning the sport are suppose to be watching?
he also palmed before crossing half court. i wouldve like to see the play finished. he prob committed a couple offensive fouls as well as traveling again
Don't lump me with my own Gen please 🤣 I'm ashamed as it is. The cope is hard for these nutcases, you can almost tell who's a free thinker and who's not just by simply asking who's the greatest NBA player of all time
Agree there’s people who think a 300 yr old man and his kids built a boat big enough to hold 2 of every living thing on the planet. Arguing with such types is futile !!
Also, as an 80s-90s kid (born in 79) people made excuses to TEAR Jordan down, not prop him up. It was only after he was done for good that everyone HAD TO say Fuck, he is the greatest
I said the same thing.. Born in 79.. Was a Warriors and LJ Hornets Fan. Was not the biggest MJ fan but now you have to admit his greatness... Especially when looking at today's NBA...
@@TheRastacabbage he would def play. until the coach got pissed from all the turnovers (which wouldve been 3x as many if they called the rules) and benched him, or until the league suspended him for flopping, or until the refs kicked him out
Yeah they changed the rules to promote higher scores and bigger stars because they lost millions of viewers when Jordan retired. So now you can carry and travel. what a joke.
Actually the lost viewers when they tolerated lebron's flopping after jordan retired from the wizard the nba was still looking good the shaq vs kobe drama was big during that time and new talents were introduce into the nba melo, wade, lebron etc.
Kind of started with Iverson carrying on his crossover, but people loved it so nevermind. It didn't go straight downhill after that but it was a precedent.
@@luciusv5765 Prove it, you have the whole RU-vid platform at your disposal to shut our mouths up, are you up to the task or are you just another entitled bronsexual Karen?? Do a video like this one and prove us wrong.
It’s a shame you had to do this but I’m grateful you did. This goes to show the problem with the game, this generation, and this era. They don’t care for the RULES of the game. They don’t care for the craft of the game. The game is bad now because the RULES are LOOSE & officiating enables it. It has for years. That’s why it’s hard to watch NBA basketball. They let players get away with everything from travels, carries, moving screens, and double dribbles. Add loose effort on defense to enable scoring. Top it off with the atrocious officiating that’s infected the league. That is today’s NBA.
Going to keep repeating myself until someone has a legitimate bona-fide answer....why aren't other player, coaches, gms, media coverage, etc not telling the truth...the off arm shove, the traveling, the phantom foul calls, enough is enough
@@AustinSevigny You mean not calling fouls? Just like every superstar complains about missed foul calls. They are all hypocrites. Don't call my foul but call theirs. As a fan should look for consistent refereeing.
The state of the NBA and the fanbase is only getting worse while this embarassing double standard is forced. Perhaps after Leflop retires, the league might eventually heal to some degree. My only question is how long it will take till he retires. I sincerely doubt the steroid use will go anywhere as they will not even test him as admitting it only harms their narrative.
The NBA has been playing fast and loose with the rules so long that the current generation has no idea what real basketball looks like. And no, they don't watch games, they watch highlight reels.
Saying this generation of NBA players is the "Most Skilled of All Times" is like claiming a linebacker who grabs the face mask on every tackle is the Great Tackler Ever...they are penalties/violations. Part of Being "skilled" means you don't commit violations while also being great at the aspects of the game
G damn are they really this stupid to go online and to be wrong. learn the rules before speaking on the net. You hit the nail on the head. expose these stupid so called basketball fans
They are wrong. Worse off, they will never even bother to check. They are so convinced that what theyfeel is right, that their ego won’t let them fact check. Can you imagine how horrible things will be in the US when these people are in charge?
This the skill gap they be talking about, the ability to travel, carry, double step back, gather step and what not.....the skill gap ladies and gentlemen
LeBron doesn't get call out traveling even when he changes his axial foot. Double dribble, Caring is a legit dribble to LeBron. It's been that way his entire career. Even the crab dribble, which he couldn't fix after all, was legally recognized by implementing a gather-steps. 😂
The axial foot pivot step thing has been like getting hit in the face with a baseball bat to watch after growing up watching Olajuwon, who tried to cure his ass of it like he did with Kobe. Of course; that would have required any scrutiny whatsoever from his minions, coaches, media, or commissioners who he has owned from day one. I promise to god before I die there will be a payoff scandal from this fake ass "Icon."
I have a video up in which I use a few clips from the 1980 NBA finals. Those clips show 3 separate traveling violations being called in the 1st QTR alone. All of which were the right call. Some people don't realize how much more skill and footwork it requires to actually navigate the court when you're not allowed to violate the rules.
the most cursed moment of that whole disgusting sequence was when he puts his hand under the ball, and cradles it like a football against his stumach, picking it up, and then taking a couple of steps before resuming the dribble. before that moment you could argue that the refs could have missed him dribbling it off his own foot, or maybe incorrectly thought that defender had touched the ball. both would be poor calls by the refs and wrong, but you could have argued both. but then for LBJ to restart the dribble by bouncing the ball once with his left hand, then cradle the ball with his right, from that point on it's a clear carry. i don't care how deranged a fanboy you are, there isn't a rule in the book, off the book or excuse for 3 officials to miss the carry that occurs at that moment.
it wasnt double dribbling when he continued dribbling with his left hand. it became double dribbling after he cradled it with his right. you can dribble off your foot and continue dribbling as long as you dont pickup or palm the ball. he didnt restart the dribble with his left hand. the ball was still bouncing from his dribble (off his foot). aoh even said that the ball can bounce twice before you continue dribbling. losing control is subjective. it shouldnt be in the rule book. the ball wasnt in anyone elses control and its a stretch to say it was a loose ball since it was bouncing underneath his left hand even while he "lost control"
@@carlholland3819 who are you arguing with? I clearly stated just that. btw: you are wrong about one detail. Dribbling the ball off your foot is considered losing control of the dribble, and he wasn't allowed to continue dribbling after that lost control. This is little kids stuff. But as i said in my post you could talk yourself into forgiving the ref for that one if he thought the defender touched the ball. If the defender had touched it, he could resume dribbling. However, as we both pointed out, cradling the ball was a travel in every definition the game has for traveling. and that was just absurd. there was no excuse for that.
The SHORT clearly showed to ANYONE that knows BB what the rules are. FUCK I already subbed to you, but as a grown-ass man with a job (who has loved basketball since the 80s) I'll join as well. Basketball IS NOT A GAME THAT IS FUN if it has no rules!
Lejuice should just take a backpack into the game and stuff the ball in it, at least he would now have some sort of bag :D Oh ye great GOAT "LE-BAGLESSONE" (also I'm quite sure the rules say nothing about having a backpack in game :P)
I feel bad because even though you had to walk them through it. None of them will have the attention span or intelligence to actually use this knowledge to change themselves.
@jemaineoliver1833 "Maybe HE didn't realize what happened. [...] Why are you coming for ONE OF the greatest ever on some incidental violation?" I had to stop the video right there (0:47). Without knowing what AOH said, my two cents: 1. that about sums it up, what we think of Lebron fans. :) "he's great, so stop criticizing him, because of one little thing!" ...that's not the point. He does this little things almost every game, and refs stopped calling them A LONG TIME AGO. 2. what does it matter if he didn't "realize" it? We have REFS for that! ...on a side note: players get techs today, just for asking something, or even for looking at the refs for too long. Lebron is constantly ARGUING with refs, and LOUDLY. No techs ever... Being "one of the greatest" doesn't give you a stack of "get out of jail free" cards. Or at least shouldn't.
I would love to have RU-vid, and Social Media in general, have us users to verify our age, like on a betting platform. That way, I could just stop discussing some topics with 9 year olds... :)
These are some basic rules that I learned when I started hooping and didn't have strength to shoot from 3pt line. Basics, carrying and traveling with the ball and everyone on the court was anal about it. There is the sport that is played like LeFraud plays basketball, it is called Handball.
Intention is everything AOH. “Officer….I didn’t know I couldn’t drink and drive and certainly didn’t intend to.” “Oh in that case….carry on. And btw congrats on your 40,000 beers drank!” 😂😂😂
I'm not even a basketball fan (hockey for me), but even from a distance I've despised this guy for years now. I can't stand hearing him talk or hearing people talk about him. I am so glad I stumbled upon this channel and that so many people think the same. Keep up the good work! 👍
@crazynweird3547 (0:57) 1. "you can't see that violations in the 90s, because there weren't as many cameras! 2. "go and rewatch that games!" You see what you did there, right? 😂😂😂 Come on. You and your brain can do better than that.
Thank you thank you thank you for showing this and the rules of the game and how the rules were clearly violated. THIS is exactly why we cannot compare era's because the game today is a joke and an insult to all the players that actually played when these violations were called throughout the entire game!!!
The scary thing is that this generation is bringing this kind of logic to real life scenarios.... demanding respect when there is no respect given... or earned... I am so glad your channel is out there
Per the NBA definitions - The dribble ends when the dribbler: Touches the ball simultaneously with both hands Permits the ball to come to rest while he is in control of it Tries for a field goal Throws a pass Touches the ball more than once while dribbling, before it touches the floor LOSES CONTROL Allows the ball to become dead Otherwise gathers the ball (see Rule IV, Section III (b))
That's why this generation of players gets beat down in international play. They actually enforce rules and let defense play, which is something these American players aren't used to.
remember when shaq was dominating then americans took all the medals on all competitions in the world but every game had to be fixed for them do do that because they were use to it.FACING AMERICA PEOPLE GET OUT OF THERE MOVE TO OTHER COUNTRIES NOBODY WILL SAY BAD WORD TO YOU.@@celestialdemon1316
It’s crazy that the young generation don’t understand that carrying is against the rules, double dribbling is against the rules, traveling is against the rules, etc. 😂
Never heard anything from MJ on this, and larry bird called lebron amazing. I would think they would be offended, but they probably have massive bills to pay.
i love that argument of that one person that's discrediting you because you never played high-level basketball. he now has to prove that he played at that level or else he can't talk either lol
You know we fought a war so we wouldn't have to deal with kings anymore. 16:23 - That comment to says "Look. He broke the rules, sure. But he's popular. So let it go." It's like... that's what you've been arguing against in a lot of these videos the entire time.
A lot of allstars in the 90's still made the allstar team in the 2000's. Garnett, webber, shaq, kobe, jkidd,AI, sam cassell, jamal mashburn, mourning, sprewel, gpayton. And the list goes on. So this "we done with the 90's" crap is BS.
They don’t watch the games. They thought Mr Family Values LeBalco Shames who had Jeanie Buss draped over him DURING A LIVE GAME was an edited AI image. That image of Jeanie draped over LeBalco was televised LIVE on TV. They literally just play video games instead then look at the stat line after and think he did something.
WSJ: LEBRON JAMES might be the most multitalented player that basketball has ever seen. But nothing underlines his qualities of top grade athleticism, supercomputer intellect and unmatched endurance quite as clearly as his career average of 27 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds per game … To put that in context, only eight other players have ever hit those marks in an individual season.
he also palmed the ball before he even crossed half court. after he dribbled off his foot he can continue dribbling as long as he doesnt pick it up and stop his dribble, which he did with his RIGHT hand. its so ingrained in me that my body wont let me travel or double dribble. to see the pros do it every time they touch the ball is sad
When you lose the possession and no one touched the ball. Once you picked it up and dribble, that's double dribble. If you lose the possession of the ball and the opposing player touched the ball, you can pick up the ball and dribble it again. This is what I know since I started playing basketball.
Watching Lakers-Wolves from Sunday (Wolves 3rd road game in 4 nights) and the most amazing thing happened. 5 secs left in 2nd Q and the refs called a 4-step travel on Lebron. Even crazier, Lebron's arms stayed at his side, not a word. I needed the halftime break to recover.
