Thank you so much for this simple and easy to understand guide. You explained to me in 3 minutes what a 30 page handbook could not. I know there are more detailed points but at least now I have a basic understanding of it.
I needed this because I lose points for not putting these citations correctly in my essay. I’ll do better next semester. I was really struggling with this APA format citations thank you.
What happens if you're quoting an author or his/her ideas multiple times through out a paper? In my paper, I paraphrase a research article like this, It is commonly believed -:enter facts from previous research paper that I did not write:- (Smith, 2012, p. 15). But then I say, "Smith goes on to say, "now this is a direct quote from Smith's paper, and I'm not sure if I need to put his name, publish date and page at the end again. Seems so redundant."
this is a long time ago but still, say im doing something about south africa and in paragraph 3.1 there is politics and i use wikipedia. do i then do this? (Wikipedia, South Africa, para. 3.1) ?
Can someone please kindly explain to me like how do you get in-text citation? Is it from a paragraph from the author or in a single sentence. Or is it both?
Thank you! If I am writing an annotated bibliography and continuously refer to the same author, do I still have to specifically include their name and the year of publication, or could I say "They" (+year), or even just "They" without the year? Thank you!
Hi Heather, For an annotated bibliography entry you are typically only referring to one author at a time so you only need to put the year after the first time the name appears in the entry. Using they/their is a good way to avoid name repetition, just make sure it is always clear who you're talking about. We do have an updated in-text citation video for the APA 7th edition here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xXn2UITEqlo.html
Hi Heather, The year only ever appears after a name and never after a pronoun. For example: "Velazquez (2021) notes that..." or "infection rates have doubled in the last two years (Velazquez, 2021).
Good information but you're blocking the screen with your next videos. It makes it impossible to see your example. Would have been nice if you gave it some time before you set that up cause this ruins vital information. Very sad
Hi there, thank you for your feedback and apologies for any inconvenience caused! We've now adjusted the video tile overlay so that it is no longer blocking any information on the screen.
