It's always a struggle. Our first apartment after signing and initial deposit they pulled the deal to offer to a family member. Got our money back of course but wasted all sorts of our time in a very corrupt way.
Oh sweetie. Please enjoy..Im 72yrs young.and wished I had the strength to go out there and live..Always was holding myself back..You are beautiful and can do this. Going on this journey with you.God Bless.
@@TaylorMorello Thanks! Honestly this video was REALLY great! Really gives a good look at the different layouts for places around Manhattan. Definitely gives you a lot to think about & consider. Thank you for this 💖
I just wanted to say that your excitement is contagious. I actually started a new job ( whole career change actually) like 2 months before Covid hit NYC hard. I couldn’t work from home either. I was excited about life despite Covid. I had a job, a new apartment (moved in March), my own Covid case (got it in March as I was moving) was mild. I felt and still feel blessed. So to see you so excited, I know the feeling and I’m happy for you!
As a native New Yorker, and an older person, I just wanted to say I enjoyed your video, but, St. Marks Place is NOT Noho, it is the East Village ( I lived a few blocks from there for a long time).
40x's rent??!!! I'm over here pressed about 3x's requirements. That is insane as wages and jobs don't match the cost of living comfortably and also to be in a decent safe neighborhood.
She was saying that your yearly salary has to be 40x's. So for someone to get approved for a $2,000.00 a month apartment, they need to make at least $80,000.00 a year which is very reasonable
@@annabarefoot2631 i get that it is reasonable for a 2000$ Appartement but earning 6600$ a month is far from normal. It just makes me so sad that the cost of accomodation is so incredibly high
This is exactly how excited I was when I moved to NYC almost 2 years ago and I’m still just as excited. Yes all of my dreams have totally come true and then some. I even met my husband! Can we say BONUS?!?! 😃
The whole fire-escape concept is so scary to me? Like aren't they connected to every room in the building? So you could just wake up to someone sitting outside your window? Thats so scary........P.S: I live in the UK so correct me if i'm wrong.
The bottom is usually raised so people can’t climb up, but there’s only so much that can be said about weird neighbors lol. You’d just have to keep your window locked and get curtains ig. And they’re not connected to EVERY room, they’re there as a safety precaution first and foremost so if push comes to shove you run out through someone else’s room if you can’t get down the main stairs
i’m so genuinely happy for you - i move to new york in two years once grad school is done. i’ll remember your vlog when i’m ready to lock in an apartment :)
I went to college in Chicago and lived there for 2.5 years after graduating. Big city living is highly overrated. Would not move back there, or any similarly-sized city, for all the money in the world. I now live in a medium-sized city and pay less than $600/month for my mortgage and condo fee combined. My condo has two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, 970 sq ft, a garage, and a parking space. Want to do big city stuff? I'm less than 2 hours from Chicago. Boom, best of both worlds.
@@KKP7557 Big cities are only great if you're looking for a competitive environment or if you have money. But I agree. Salaries in NYC might be 15 % higher (compared to smaller cities), but the spending surpasses way more. Do I love nyc, yes, but I'll never live there.
This was so nice to watch. Very detailed. It’s realistic for us normal people. Makes me wonder how much Brooke miccio, Renee amberg , other bigger youtubers actually pay to live in NYC.
I really admire people like you who have the strength and courage to just move and actually do it! I’m from England and would love to live in New York would be a dream for me! But I just don’t have the strength to do it, I’d worry about finding a job and money etc and would be scared being lonely, maybe one day 😕
Dear Taylor, this is one of the best NYC apartment hunting videos that I have seen. I am very excited for you. You are going to take Manhattan by storm!🌸🌸🌸🌺🌺💐
I literally have no words ....😭😭😭 Your video brought tears to my eyes... All your hard work has paid for; beyond proud of you🥰for always following your dreams no matter what and defeating all the difficulties... And you are so right, every girl needs to have her own space for a couple of years- such an amazing way of living; you actually reminded me of Carrie Bradshaw from “Sex & the city” 😭😭🥰🥰🥰🥰 in your new apartment !!! Absolutely love it and it suits you so much 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Congrats girl- well deserved!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
I am so so so happy for you!! It’s clear how much you love NYC and it is truly amazing that you’re being able to fullfill your dream. It’s true what they say - hard work pays off! I cant wait to go on this journey with you 💖😘
So excited for you! I had the same feeling of “this is the one” when I moved into my first NYC apartment in my early 30s and felt that way until I moved out a couple of months ago after 15 years!
YES taylor!!!!! I'm the girl who messaged you on insta when you got the keys saying I was moving too!! I got all teary in the last shots where you got in alone for the first time and talked about following your dream!! You are such an inspiration to young girls like me, following our dreams and you deserve everything you've gotten
ILL0611 awww hiii!!! ☺️❤️ Yayy I’m so glad you watched and enjoyed the video and good luck with your move!! You’ll have to let me know how it goes ☺️💕💕
I grew up in Chicago. I'm 50. Although I traveled I always lived in Chicago. Love it here. Sunday I'm starting a new life in Henderson Nevada. It is scary and exciting. The process of finding an apartment in Nevada is way harder than in Illinois and I was really getting nervous about not finding a place. Good luck to you and your new place and may only good things be at your door !!
Im like so happy for you, when you were talking about the last and ur final choice, I can feel ur happiness :) The apartment you chose definitely is sooo nice
A very late congratulations on your new place! Even though I’ll never live in NYC, I really enjoyed your breakdown of the “pre-moving” process, and it was fun to see all the different apartments. Your optimism is contagious, and I commend you for picking yourself back up and making your dreams come true after losing your job a few months ago. I’m a bit (okay a lot lol) older than you, but I’m inspired by your positive outlook and your ability to keep going. I hope your channel and your Instagram continues to grow! 💗
Congratulations on your new beautiful home! I am on the hunt for my first solo home in Manhattan as well, and your story has been really inspiring and uplifting. Thank you for sharing with us! Stay safe and well.❤️
I'm so happy for you. Manhattan watch out here she comes. Sending nothing but good vibes to you from California. May God continue to bless you. Let's do this.
This is just so sad to me. This much money goes into housing for a single person if they want to live alone in Manhattan? What has the world come to? Landlords are truly disgusting.
In Austria in Vienna there is a cap. Landlords can't go above a certain amount per m2 and area. It looks cute but only when you are that young it's OK.
There is a little misinformation in the video. The application fee cannot exceed $20. It is illegal to take last month’s rent. Broker fee should be equal to 1 month’s rent. It is not legal to charge more. People will take advantage of you because you don’t know your rights. It is really important to always inform yourself about your legal right.
✨ Thanks so much for this!!!!! I’m literally teary eyed... everything you said is definitely something I feel. I live alone already but in LA but Im ready for the challenge of moving to NYC. Thanks for being honest and humble!!! ✨
This is the first video I ever commented on. Your enthusiasm, peppered with a feeling of wonder and all is achievable, moved me tremendously. Your dream was mine when I was younger but sadly I never was able to afford a New York City apartment. My life turned out great but watching you and your journey brought me back to another time and place and I so enjoyed it. Keep going. You're doing great!!!!!
omg im so happy I found your channel!!! Ive been watching a ton of nyc videos for like the past year and I'm now currently on the hunt for ~marketing type~ jobs in NYC! I'm very excited to get the chance to move there in the near future!! HUGE congrats to you, I cant wait to watch more of your future videos (& binge watch your current ones now LOL) !!!
The ending where you’re talking about your dreams is really hitting home with me 😅 living in Manhattan has been like my only life goal for as long as I can remember and I’m finally moving there in a few days 🥳🥳🥳 the feeling is indescribable Like have I peaked? Do I really deserve this? WHAT NOW?????
Awww! You are the cutest. I am a New Yorker as well, born and raised though lol. And I still love my city. It’s so cool to see you so excited and so grateful to be living here... Enjoy it to the fullest! 💕
So exciting to see you living your dream! I completely agree with you, living by oneself is such an important experience (and a privilege!). I did as well in my late 20s for 2 years and really loved it. Good luck with the move and enjoy!
I really loved your video!! You showed a lot of apartments and gave some great info about NYC. I definitely could tell by your voice how emotional and excited you were. I felt so happy for you. Congratulations!!!!!
great vid!! informative and inspiring. i was so nervous seeing all those apartments, especially the one with the AMAZING view (19:15) but knowing you didn't buy that one made me feel so on edge. but you found a very cute apartment, excited to see the interior
This is lovely ! I can feel your excitement through the camera lol. CONGRATULATIONS!🎉 I love NYC. I try to travel there twice a year . Maybe I’ll be able to live there one day 😍
Aww congratulations on moving to your new apartment!! I literally got so emotional with you, especially when you were taking it all in in YOUR new empty home (it was so beautiful omg😭)! but I am so excited for you and can't wait to see you live out your NYC rom-com dreams💕 I relate so much to the emotions & journey that came with COVID.. so much valuable job/life experiences was lost & I felt so vulnerable and hopeless about what to do in life. Thank you for touching on your own life struggles & giving me hope to overcome it by being productive and proactive! I just love your realistic but excited energy; I'm so glad RU-vid recommended me to you (just subbed)!!❤️🤩
Btw, you need to put up some "locks" on the window with the fire escape. Those window locks are very easy to pop open. Living on your own is fabulous, but keep safe. ---Native NYer
I live in NY still with parents and I know how expensive and how difficult is to move out on your own specially in Manhattan even dough we don’t know each other I’m beyond happy and proud of you just the fact that you’re up for the challenge makes you a strong young woman celebrate this awesome victory!! Xoxo ❤️🌹💖🥰
To be honest, I haven't finished watching this video and I already hit the like button. You are so sweet! I love your emotion when talking about your dream to live in Manhattan! So cute! I'm glad I found this video, and I'm definitely going to check out more of your content.
Loved this! I'm planning to move into my own place in the city the summer and I'm nervous but so excited - your video was very helpful and made me even more excited xo
Congratulations!! :) My dream is to live on my own in the Bay Area. It's so expensive like NYC, but I'm living at home now to save up. Good luck with your new chapter in Manhattan!!
I live in the Bay area for more than a year. The weather is unbeatable that's for sure. But let me tell you it's soooo fucking boring. I was thinking to move to New York, but not right now when you can't do anything outside anyway
Aw omg this video is so adorable! I’m in the process of moving on my own in Albany NY and this gave me so much comfort and clarity!! Have so much fun and be safe ❤️🥺
You remind me of Whitney Port - so adorable and authentic with whimsical style. I SOOOO dream of living in Manhattan...sighing ....maybe one day. Love your vid!
Congrats Taylor! This was such a great video, I’m not used to comment YT videos but literally CAN’T wait to see your content from now. You deserve it girl 💕💕
Ahh so exciting your new place is near my office, I LOVE that area and I love going to Little Cupcake bakeshop during my little treat yourself lunch breaks 😍 and Prince Street Pizza = THE BEST. I’ve been working from home since March but I miss that area so much!
Melanie Griesemer oh Yayy!!! You must have a pretty cool office ☺️ and I love that idea of “treat yourself” lunch breaks! I need to do that more often! 💗
Right now is the best time to move to NYC because a lot of ppl are moving out of NYC. I'm a native New Yorker and I want to move out of NYC but my partner doesn't want to since we have all our family here. ❤
Girl, I just came across this video a couple of days after getting my first apartment (not in NYC but another big city in Canada) and the last bit of it made me emotional lmao.
