Damn, Apathy is truly an underrated lyricist.

This is a freestyle dude it's from 2011. Dead In The Middle from their album KILLmatic came out 2013. So he made this freestyle into a verse on the song. And he spit extra shit at the end that I've never heard until now.

To THIS day my playlist is the likes of apathy and army of the Pharaoh's..That raw 90s boom BAP still resonates ...with every bottom of the bowl hit to dedicate ...860/203 ...brilliance at its purest form..no sugar coating that...

Yes it is a freestyle, this verse wasn't used until 2013 and the video came out in 2011, he just used the verse later on in in the Dead In The Middle song

I thought we were all here for the same reason? I assumed we were all here because of our love for hardcore hip hop. I'm surprised that some people are so aggressive and also that some seem to have such a limited knowledge of rap music. Apathy may well be an awesome freestyle MC - I wouldn't know, since I've never heard him freestyle. However, this performance is clearly written and not a freestyle. This doesn't detract from him being an awesome penman with a delivery that's on point, but this is not an example of him freestyling. Besides, since when was telling the truth a reason to say "if you doubt his ability to freestyle, step to him and get killed"? This is not a freestyle that was so good that it made it onto 'Dead In The Middle' as some people have said. This is written and presented here as freestyle. So what that it took until 2013 to include it on 'Dead In The Middle'? Without doubt it is written, but written words should never be seen as second best to freestyling. I think the confusion comes down to a poor understanding of battle rap. People seem to assume that battling is about freestyle, when in reality almost all of a battle is made up of bars - pre-written and rehearsed. Check out Dizaster, Henry Bowers, Illmaculate or HFK to see what I mean. So, in a nutshell. There is a huge difference between freestyle and pre-written lyrics, but they compliment one another. If you want to see a real freestyle, take a look at the video I filmed on my channel which shows A-F-R-O doing a freestyle.

This came out 2 years before Dead in the Middle. Apathy just used this freestyle on that track, you can hear him kind of forcing it on the beat.

-_- some of y'all don't know what a freestyle means. Just to keep things simple, it originally meant having written bars and going on an instrumental with no practice or experience beforehand. However nowadays, free styling has grown to mean thinking of lines on the top of your head as you go on the instrumental. I guess now, both ways define what a freestyle is.
