So I have been getting several messages here and there regarding this method with coated vehicles, will it strip wax, how often you should use this, and when to use it. Apologies for not covering this in the video 😭I will answer that here ;) 1. Coated Cars : MOST, not all, most ceramic coatings on their product description should tell you the pH resistance level. If your coating has a max pH resistance of 10, then you should use this method sparingly. So dont use this EVERY wash, but only when the contaminents are getting out of hand. Like, REALLY DIRTY. Most coatings can easily take the hit, not to mention there are plenty of RU-vid videos of people torture testing coatings, so with this APC Pre Wash I am sure you will be fine ;) 2. Strip Wax? : No matter what you do, pH neutral soap and water alone, can still strip the wax to some extent. This APC Pre Wash can shed a light amount of FRESH wax, and for old wax maybe about 50-70% removal, but it has to be REALLY old wax with no toppers or detail sprays in between washes. Honestly I think its good that it strips a little, similar to human skin, you want the dead/old layer to be removed so you can reveal a fresh surface. To which you can add more wax, topper, or detail spray. All waxes and soaps are different so top your wax, add more wax, or detail spray according to your needs ;) 3. How Often? : DO NOT USE THIS FOR EVERY WASH YOU DO ON A SINGLE CAR. if you are detailing the same car, I would say use this method every 3-5 washes, ASSUMING it is in your care and the contaminents are not getting out of hand. First time customers, Neglected vehicles, abandoned cars, muddy trucks, and Traffic Film coated surfaces are where this APC Pre Wash shines the best since it thoroughly cleans a majority of the junk before initiating in the contact wash. So dont over use this method if its the same car and you wash your car frequently. 4. When to use it? : This method is handy with cars that clearly have a horrendous amount of grime, tar, bird poo, mold, fall out, mud, traffic film, organic growth, and anything else that we detailers will see with disgust. HOWEVER, I would not recommened this on vehicles that are clean (wash 1-2 times a week), such as maintained clients, rare or hyper cars that cost more than your own home, and just obvious clear signs that the car is clean. So don’t use this method for every car, observe and use your best judgment. *phew Hopefully that answers future questions xD More questions? Comment below! ;)

How about ONR pre-wash with waxed, coated on not too much dirty car or maintenance wash. Have you ever try it?
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose 2 года назад
I will be honest, I never had good luck with ONR on dirty vehicles. At that point you should just do the traditional wash because ONR works better on lightly dirty or dusty vehicles. because ONR is a polymer based cleaner, it should in theory work better on a waxed surface, but because it is a pH neutral cleaner, it has no effect with traffic film, grime, and bird droppings. hopefully this answers your question 😎😎😎
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose Год назад
But neither does it say to NOT use it 🤔 Under the wrong hands I would say no, for obvious reasons. If you are familiar with alkaline based soaps, they are not too different from the base chemistry 🧪 So you can definitely use this when it is NECESSARY, not for maintenance washes ☝️

This was very helpful as I've been wanting to implement a pre-wash step in my process with a foam cannon (I hate pump up sprayers). I haven't decided on an APC yet though, I'm shifting away from Super clean, and some of the ones I'm considering are Nanoskin Multiclean, DIY All Clean, 3D Super Pre-soak (which is an actual pre-soak not really an APC). But IDK what the PH is on these, or what the dilution ratio would be on the APCs.
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for the feedback champ! appreciate the support! 🙏 I would argue that most all purpose cleaners will work perfectly fine. Just make sure to follow the instructions and observe how the grime comes off. If your customers have someone clean cars, I would probably not use an APC, but instead a dedicated prewash soap 🤔 Something like KCX Super foam is pretty solid even at something like 1:10

@@CardosCarDose Is the super clean 4 to 1 = 4 parts water and one part super clean, correct? The other thing is that I do live in the desert and only have a carport. I usually wait till the evening but it is still very warm...101 degrees in the evening. Do you think that using a pre wash with super clean 4 to 1 would be ok at that temp

I use 4 parts water to 1 part product 😉 NOOOO 😂 ☀️ 🔥 I would not risk using an APC at such a temperature. Now, that's the weather temperature, your car in reality is much hotter than that even if it's colored white. In such claimants a canopy is called to order or wait early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

high quality video, well explained and demonstrated with helpful information. I appreciate the part where you poured to consistent dilution ratios and measured each products pH, great way to compare the products and price points. Have you ever measured the pH after it comes out of the foam cannon?

@CardosCarDose Год назад
thank you for your feedback! Really appreciate it! 😎🔥 I have not measured it after it comes out of the foam cannon, but by looking at my pH readings from my chemical guys and P&S pearl review videos, it looks like the pH doesn't change that much even when significant amounts of water is added. so to answer your question, I believe the page will probably jump between .5 to 1.5 pH after the foam cannon. hopefully this answers your question. 😊

oh man i really dig this idea and will definitely give it a try, i may be wrong but i feel if i use it with my mjjc canon, it may do a service of cleaning out the foaming screens inside the canon nozzle. it’ll be a extra step to empty out and flush the nozzle with clean water before reloading with shampoo but we’ll see … 👍🏽 thanks

Ive tested with and without rinsing the bottle and it is actually the opposite 😮 Because soap is thicker and viscous it will create gel like clumps if you dont rinse it thoroughly APC in the other hand has a lower viscosity which will dilute and rinse a lot easier than soap. However, I would probably have a second foam cannon dedicated to just APC if you use it frequently just so there is no cross contamination 👍

Before I saw your video I watched several RU-vid videos from Forensic Detailer, Apex and Pan. I bought Extra Tough and was going to try that… BTW, I thought it was very gracious of you to acknowledge those other RU-vidrs, who inspired this APC application.

@CardosCarDose Год назад
Thank you for the kind words Malachi! 😭 🙏 I try my best to provide enough information for all to use in their details! APC vs Soap Pre Wash have COMPLETELY different use cases and the results are equally important. Soap Pre Wash: this is recommended for vehicles that are maintained. Because these mixtures are not that aggressive, but packs more punch than a pH neutral soap, it is a great procedure to use if the car is frequently washed. APC Pre Wash: I do not recommend this for maintained cars. This procedure is effective on cars with moderate to heavy amount of contaminants. Such as bird, droppings, traffic film, grime, mud, and other unsightly impurities. if you are Detailing as a business, or you simply have a car that has been neglected for quite some time, this procedure is good to use, but don't do it so frequently on maintenance vehicles. hopefully this answers your question! 😎👉👉

There will always be criticisms for every brand, obviously super clean is not a Detailing brand, but if one can just understand the chemistry and its use cases, it can become helpful to a detailer willing to think outside the box! however, if you feel uncomfortable with super clean, that is okay there is no shame in it! Another good alternative is Maguire‘s APC. and just like what you did, make sure to do thorough research😉😉😉👍👍

I think the biggest advantage of sprayer is you get exactly dilution ratio you put in, while with foam cannon the apc sprayed on car is actually more diluted (to get the proximate ratio we need to measure how much water and apc solution pumped out in a minute and of course this will vary between pressure washer, foam cannon, and that knob setting on top)
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose 12 дней назад
100% True champ 👍 It is correct that the foam canon does dilute the chemical significantly. With my pressure washer (1322TS), if I pour APC straight, the output is somewhere around 1 : 50. This is a low dilution, however, still has plenty enough kick to cleanse the surface. My most recent video of a ceramic coating maintenance service demonstrates it in case you want to check it out. 😎 👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QvgTeoAvBrw.htmlfeature=shared

@CardosCarDose I did. Informative video there. Btw, is there any good reason to choose CarPro Reset (well known for its cleaning ability, while remain safe on paint) over APC (diluted properly) for maintain coated car?
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose 11 дней назад
Reset is just a soap, and soap is just soap, no matter how alkaline it is. APC on the other hand, is a highly reactive chemical that can certainly clean much more than the most alkaline soap. I do not recommend you use APC as a maintenance cleaner. I used it in that video because the contamination was out of hand and I had to chemically shock the coating to dislodge any impurities. This also helps if you see sheeting behavior instead of beading. 👍 Hopefully, this makes sense 🙏

Love the format of the video and details. One thing is foam cannon would further dilute.... Would you want the 12ph to impact panels?
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose Год назад
I actually tested this off camera to make sure how the pH would fluctuate after being sprayer with a foam cannon. As it turns out, its very minor 🤔 Perhaps even negligible if the car is really hammered, I guess being exposed to a pH of 12 would be necessary to uplift all of the dirt. Of course, if it is ceramic coated or a car more expensive than your own house, I would probably not chance it. 😂 thanks for the feedback though! Appreciate your input ! 🤙🤙🤙🤙🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🚗🚗🚗🚗✨✨✨✨

👍. I use meguiar's apc or meguiar's super degreaser (10:1, about 45ml in 500ml) as a prewash, and it works great!. Sometimes I add it directly to my snow foam shampoo to increase the power of my pre-wash shampoo.. Which I also do to rejuvenate a clogged ceramic coating and apc prewash where super degreaser. An alkaline shampoo like carpro lift and an acid shampoo like descale. And even at times a ferrous decontaminant or a shampoo like gyeon restart wash. It's a lot of work and money but it works well for ceramic coatings!

Great video! As a few comments mention, the pressure washer dilutes it further than the dilution mixed in the foam cannon. I'm going to give a 1:15 a try with Koch-Chemie Green Star and see what happens. Question though - can I simply add this to a foaming soap, or do you recommend the dedicated pre-wash using it? I guess the soap would be pointless for a pre-wash if using APC already.
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose 9 месяцев назад
Kochchemie mentioned you could mix their green star with GSF because the soap is a pH neutral and the APC would add a bit of alkalinity for extra kick APC only pre wash is great for REALLY nasty cars and should not be used on maintenance vehicles 🤔 Adding APC to soap is not pointless if you do not have an alkaline based soap to do the cleaning 👍

Do you think you’ll get a better quality result from the foam cannon procedure or the pump sprayer procedure?
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose 2 года назад
It is all personal preference! The foam canon is a great since you cover the whole vehicle in a short amount of time, however it requires a pressure washer to do this. The trigger sprayer or pump sprayer is economical and requires no pressure washer. While the output will be the same, you will be taking a lot longer since the pump sprayer doesn’t output a consistent layer of foam, making the detail longer. both will get the job done, it just depends if you want it done with a pressure washer or not 😎

DISCLAIMER: Under no circumstances should you detail wheels in direct sunlight and/or if they are hot to the touch, especially coated/matte wheels. with that said, just use some common sense on dwelltime and how long you are in the sun. Wheel cleaners have crazy high pH levels, compared to the APC pre-wash, it has a lower strength. So I think you should be fine, within logical boundaries of course 😉

@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose 2 года назад
To put it very simply ma champ, if you wash your car once or twice a week, you can use much gentler cleaners and prolong the life if you add toppers every now and then. While this is pretty safe on ceramic coatings, just make sure to read what pH resistance your coating has. if it caps at 11 I probably wouldn’t recommend this. 😉 Obviously use common sense, if you have a coating and wash your car every 4 weeks, then obviously you are going to degrade it sooner because you need stronger cleaners to deal with the grime.

When you say 4:1 ratio, are you accounting for the water from the pressure washer diluting it? I would think it would seriously dilute it because the PIR method shows you might need half the bottle filled with soap/apc for just a 4% mixture
@CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose Год назад
Thats a fair point and I have been asking myself the same question. To test this idea safely I am taking care of dirty commercial trucks for a client, to which they are ok with me using their trucks for my product testing 😂 Ive tried 10:1, 4:1, and even 75% APC (1 Water : 3 APC). With my 2gpm machine I can say that 4:1 is the sweet spot of high cleaning without exposing the paint to such intense dilutions. 75% or Full Strength dilution does work and has a stronger punch, but the streaking is horrible and requires a THOROUGH rinse and a generous wipe during the contact wash to make sure it is removed. On clear coated paint and chrome this is more noticeable, and while commercial trucks dont speak for all cars, this was some useful data to see what dilutions to play with. So for now, 4:1 seems pretty good so far and I haven't had many experiences where it did not work as intended or inflicted defects. Of course further testing is required, so let me know how it goes for you! 😉

Question, so super clean reaches optimal ph in 4:1 dilution ratio so to make the math easy we should use PIR which would be 20%? So far example my 1000ml foam lance with pressure washer combined puts out roughly 560ounces to empty the lance. So 20% pir would be 3312 ML ooor am I doing this wrong? There are a bit of inconsistencies in this video 😂 I am currently working on a version two of this video with an update on the information, including PIR. I actually pour APC straight into the foam cannon, only because I have a 1.9 gpm machine. The dilution ratio on output will probably be around 1:70-130, while the ratio is wild, it still has enough kick to remove the grime from the vehicle. Another well thought out, organized, and informative video. I ran across your Turtle Wax Max video, liked it, and went looking for more. Now I’m a new subscriber. You mentioned that the rear of the vehicle might need some physical agitation (with a mitt?). What do you think about doing this on all the surfaces? Any downside? I noticed some products said 4/1, 8/1, etc. and another said the reverse, even 1/15 & 1/30. Ratios can be deceiving if there is no explanation as to which number is the product and which is the water. There is a big difference between 4/1 and 1/4. I have always thought the product was listed first because it’s usually the smaller amount…… 1/4 meaning 1 part product and 4 parts water. So the manufacturer’s ratios confused me. Does their 4/1 recommendation actually mean 4 parts product in 1 part water? Please clear this up for me.😱 And I like the foam on your cap and bill.😁 Subtle humor. I would not suggest adding apc to soap from a different brand. Most APCs already foam good enough so I think youll be fine. @CardosCarDose
@CardosCarDose Год назад
Depending on your make and model, it will change what the output is once it lands on the surface. for example, my Greenworks machine outputs approximately 0.9 GPM, and doesn't dilute the product a lot since it is mostly air. However, my Kanzle 1322TS has a steady 2GPM and adds more water, hence why it is diluted more. honestly, I think you are safe with 1:5 all the way to 1:8. I DO NOT recommend using it at full strength, unless you are dealing with grungy vehicles like AMMO NYC or Detail Geek as one and done solutions 😂 NEVER use that dilution on "clean" or "maintained" vehicles, as it could potentially harm the plastics and other delicate clear coats

The base chemistry of APC and Degreasers are not too different and both can be safely used on the vehicle at the correct dilution. It is not a brand A vs B vs C thing, it is about why you are using it and how does it help you out. I do not recommend anyone to constantly use APC or Degreaser as their PreWash mixture on their vehicle if they live in a dry area like California. However, in much more wet climates where traffic film is a frequent contaminant, then a Degreaser would be more effective as that is the core ingredient of what road film is, something APC can not break down efficiently.
