Tbh, it doesn't really hurt the property. The people who watch these are prob fans of what is being ripped off and watching to see how terrible it is. It's like fan films, studios only sue or try to stop it or care when it exist as a threat to their paycheck. At this point Asylum is known for this stuff and it's like a weird al parody song.

The Messenger (1986) is a movie starring and directed by Fred Williamson. Dude has done a lot of schlocky flicks. But, this one is special. It makes the Asylum look like auteurs. It makes Samurai Cop look like a piece de’ resistance. Everyone needs to see The Messenger at least once. Can’t say it’s the worst film ever made. But, cannot imagine what could be worse and still be legal to watch.

FYI, the whole thing about Eric Roberts beign in The Dark Knight Trilogy its a running gag of sorts, that goes like this: Nolan, beign a fan of 70´s movies, put in each movie an breakthrough-actor from said decade that his carrer got shafted later down the road. In Batman Begins was Rutger Hauer In The Dark Knight was Eric Roberts, as mentioned In The Dark Knight Rises was Matthew Modine Also, at least Eric Roberts graced us with Emma Roberts, so there´s that.
