You are the most perfect person I've ever heard speak. Your detail is fantastic and very intelligent. Ur mom is hilarious hope she got her ligts up. Thanks Dj Rachel your awesome. , I'm Dj ShiMMiE from the Reno Tahoe area an we say hi
Thanks so much for your time to check this out. I try to make videos that I wish I had when making a purchase so I try to be as thorough as possible. Thanks for your kindness!
Hi from france!!!!!! i like your videos and your explications are so kool.. then you make it that so simply to use, we can see that you love your job. thank you for all.
Brian Hood Always happy to help. I think it’s important for people to understand what they’re buying. I try and make videos I wish I had before I made a purchase. Thanks so much for the feedback. Mom is simply the best. She puts up with a lot of crap. 🤣🤣 If you want to see the sticks in action check out my latest video of them in my driveway. They are a nice touch on the speaker poles.
Hi Rachel! Hope you and yours are healthy and staying safe! Amen to that! We all try to get as much info/references we can, when making the best decisions for our equipment, and our pocketbook! 😖🤣 Another question if you can help me out. Been a DJ/musician for many years, but wanted to enter the realm of a “smoother” transition for songs obviously, and I thought I would start out small, see where this went for me, then move up to bigger and better, so I just bought the Denon DJ MC4000 mixer, and I’m looking to purchase VDJ’s program, as I’ve used VDJ for many years with just a laptop, and I feel I’m quite comfortable with it and what they put into their programs! Do you have any vlogs on Setting up/Downloading music/basic mixing that I can check out, to attempt to conquer the basics? Any info/help would be appreciated! Thx as always! Have a gr8 day! 😄🎶
Brian Hood yes. Check out the rest of my channel. I have a VDJ section. There are also tons of videos out there with some tips and tricks. Good luck! Enjoy your Denon MC4000
These are splash proof but are harder to “dry out” than their other products. They would be fine at party on a pole or some other situation where a drink gets spilled on them or water from a hose gets sprayed on them briefly. They are are not IP rated but because of the way they make their circuit boards they put a special coating on all of their boards which protects the delicate electronics from being accidentally damaged by moisture. A good thing to have in our industry with drinks and weather being a factor...
Thank you Thank you and Thank you for sharing good information on products that you been using. I’m going to invest my money on ape products. I love watching your videos and how organized you are 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 keep up the GREAT WORK DJ Rome signing out.
I really appreciate your time to check this out. ApeLabs have been a fantastic investment. I've been called a lot of things, and organized is not one of them. LOL Thanks for the compliment. Stay safe! Be well!
Hi Rachel, you did an amazing job reviewing the lights, as usual. Your mom is always hilarious and charming. I can see why you have such great character. Don't take my comments too seriously but I found a light that I love to use and I'd like to tell you why. Also I've seen the Ape Labs lights when they first came out and Brian S Redd gave a good video on them as well. I just have not seen whether you can adjust the sensitivity of the sound active mode. Anyway, I own lights from Both Lighting and they have very similar function modes and the prices are half of what most other companies charge. I typically don't want to invest too much money in any one technology right away when it first arrives on the scene so I haven't bought any Ape Labs yet. Plus in my area most event clients can't afford to pay for expensive lighting packages so getting your money back on them is difficult. Many people don't understand the value or impact these lights can have unless you get a chance to show them. That isn't always possible especially since most clients want to communicate via text or email. I bought 10 battery powered, wireless, DMX, IR remote, LED 6 x 10 watt uplights for $780.00 USD with $280.00 in shipping to Dartmouth, NS Canada from Both Lighting. I've had them a year and they work flawlessly. They are programmable, they can master slave very easily, they hold a charge for 8 or more hours on a static charge and 6 or more in music mode. They also are made with a metal housing and come in black or white. Also each light comes with a remote so I have 10 remotes. If I lose one or ot gets damaged I have lots of backups. So when you said there is nothing out there that comes close to the Ape Labs stuff I have to disagree slightly. As a mobile DJ in a smaller market place the lights I'm using are perfect and very affordable. If I or anyone, ever do damage one it won't cost much to replace. I've currently ordered 16 more of the Both Lighting lights for two other DJs who saw them, used them and agreed with why I love them. I also don't use expensive travel cases for them either. One reason is I'm disabled and can't lift or carry much weight so I need light weight equipment. The second reason is when you live where I do shipping costs can be brutal from the US or even in Canada. So I doubt I'll ever own any Ape Labs equipment. It's unfortunate but it doesn't make financial sense. If there was a sale I may be tempted to look at getting two sticks but even then that would be over 400.00 for two lights when I could almost buy 6 Both Lighting products that I know and trust. Keep up the vlogging and reviews and I hope you see where I'm coming from.
Guy Hermanson Thanks so much for taking the time to watch this. Just to clarify ... 🙂 When I said there is nothing else out there like Apelabs, I was referring specifically to MusikMode. I have yet to have found another light that responds to sound the way their lights do. Feel free to let me know if yours react the way MusikMode does. I’d be very interested to see! To answer your question yes, you can change the sensitivity of MusikMode and crate very unique patterns. You can also use the W-App and DMX them. I’m not sure how much your lights weigh or if they charge in the case with one wire like Apelabs, but that was a HUGE selling point for me. I’m so glad you found lights you love. ❤️💯 Thanks again for your time and happy Thanksgiving. 🍽🍁
Great videos as always. have you ever used your Ape Labs lights as dance floor lighting, say for a small wedding or corporate event of around 50 people or so. Being magnetic and sticking to speaker polls or on top of speakers could be very cool set up, especially with the musik mode later on in dancing portion of event.
taz23340 I use them at every event. These are really meant to be looked at and not wash a dance floor. I usually put a few of them in my totems too. I find creative ways to get these on display because MusikMode is so beautiful. I have several gig logs that shows how I use them. Feel free to check them out.
I was just looking at your video with the ape coin. Where you in downtown Hartford Wi. I live in Oak creek wi, my route for Fedex is Hartford west bend etc...
Your Ma is a right laugh, such a good sport, just tell her you're keeping your (and her) global fanbase up to speed 😁😁. 2nd time watching this excellent review Rach. Very, very expensive, but lone DJs should not be messing around with DMX or wasting time running and chasing cables where possible.
What are you using for mixer and cordless mic. I’m asking questions cause I’m am redoing my DJ Equipment. I feel that you are knowledgeable and true to yourself. This just help me to know what direction to go in, as far as DJ Equipment goes. Thanks in advance for your time and energy!
Universal Reality I use a Denon MCX8000. I use a Sennheiser EW100 G4 microphone. If you watch my gig log videos you’ll see all of the equipment I use. 🙂 I make an effort to show the gear and how it works. 👌🏻
rendonjmtb it’s best to look around for the best price because they can vary but I can give you a general ballpark. 1 stick is $215 The tour pack of 10 with case and accessories is $2, 600. If you get them from NLFX and use the code word PIZZA you’ll get 15% off. Thanks for watching!
DJ Rachel wow !!! I better start saving all y gig money . Lol (from dj Chepe). What I like about all these lights is that you can link all of them with w app instead of have different products from different brand names(looks like a router just saw another of your videos using it ). Can you make a video how to link them .. thank you
@@rendonjmtb Yes. All of their lights are compatible. They are DMX ready and the W-app brings these fixtures to a whole other level. Honestly, all you have to do is turn everything on and they connect. It's that simple.
Question: which dealer did you purchase these through and also, can you activate musik mode and just have it flash one color? Let's say if I just wanted them to respond to music with only the color red? Great video, very informative :)
I got these from NLFX Professional. You can active MusikMode and have respond with one static color or you can have it color shift. You can completely customize the look. Thanks a bunch for checking this out.
Is the remote synced to just your lights? What would happen if you at a venue thst has multiple events going and the other dj has the same lights? Thsnks
If you want a job done. Put a German on it. I only do Benz. Wish I had these back in the day. We had to string a billion miles of lights. Dam my mix of Frank Joli back in 89 would of been slamming at the Palladium.
Thank you for a quick response. How do you like your EV speakers. Have you heard the Qsc series if so what is your take according to your ears to hear.
Universal Reality if you check out my other videos you will see that I’ve only ever owed QSC speakers. For the past 12 years I’ve been rocking the K series and KW181 subs. I ❤️ my EV EVOLVE50. They are fantastic for smaller mobile events. I have a few videos with those as well. It’s important to understand their purpose and the size of events they are designed to handle. They sound fantastic and are good for parties 80-150 people.
Are you running the qsc 12, also will they provide sound for 200-250 pls. I’m thinking about going with the ape coin, how long do they last once charged with usb, I want to put behind facade and also in my truss one covered with the white scrim
Universal Reality Yes. I use the k12s. They would be fine for 200-250 people. The ape coins depend on the battery pack that you use but I’d say at least 10 hours.
I know it's been a bit since this was posted. I'm thinking about getting 5-8 of these for day parties. Do they throw off a decent amount of light in daylight? I'd be using em just for ambiance and to beef up lighting in a DJ booth.
I consider these accent lighting. They obviously have some wash affect, but if you’re looking to light up a dance floor or room with these, I would at least check out the XL version. I think you’d be disappointed otherwise as a general wash affect using these. No lighting looks great in broad daylight. Can you explain a little more what you are trying to light up in bright environments with a lot of sunlight? What do you need lighting for?
@@DJRachelLynch Hey! Thanks for hollering back. So I throw pop up day parties at different venues. Basically house music/disco/tech house. All the of the events start in the afternoon then go into the night. I was mostly just looking for some lighting to make the booth look 'cool' overall. I found 6 of these on eBay for $600. I bought them, and the seller does accept returns. I figured I'd take a look and see how they do in daylight. The main goal is just for ambient lighting and just eye candy really.
@@sagarjha3933 Understood! These are definitely “eye candy.” Direct sunlight is going to be a challenge for them, but you’ll get a nice effect later on. Definitely give them a try! They are very cool lights. 🙂
@@DJRachelLynch finally got them! They are sweet. Do you know of a way to mount them to mic stands or how to turn off that battery flash while they’re charging?
@@sagarjha3933 By default, the battery status of the device is indicated by a slight glow of the LED. This function can be deactivated so that the devices are completely off in "blackout". Note: If the status display is deactivated, a device that is switched off can no longer be distinguished from one that is switched on in the "Blackout". Therefore, please use the remote control after use to check whether the devices are actually switched off. Switching the battery status display on/off - Set the lamp to service mode: o Device must be switched off. o Press power button and hold for a good 5 seconds. The unit will turn on and start flashing blue/white after about 5 seconds. The button can now be released. - To turn off the battery status display, press the "darker" button on the remote control - to turn it on, press the "lighter" button. The device will confirm this by flashing red or green. - The service mode can be exited again by pressing the "blackout" key or the power button.
What you see in the video is how they look on camera. Also, feel free to check out my other gigs logs to see how they look when recording them at events.
