yeah, if you're in the magnifying glass you slowly take damage, until you are at 150%. after 150% you don't take damage no matter how long you're off screen.

Hbox has always been my favorite of the 5 gods to watch. I've been a fan of his since 2014/15 and even I was rooting for zain here.

As much as I love Amsa sub-plot, he’s not close to #1, he needs a couple more wins for that.

Don't forget about Cody, he's also in contention for #1. It's crazy how close it is, but Zain is in the lead right now I'd say.

Don't leave Cody out of the running. He did really well here, at Summit, and Big House. If he closes out the year with grands victories I'd put him at #1 as well. I would argue, under such circumstances, that he simply needed a bit of time to get back up to speed.

stadium and yoshis are arguably better counterpicks against puff than FD. stadium has a huge center stage for marth to control, and has good setups on the platforms. Yoshi's is tiny and marth has good up air and fsmash setups for early kills. FD is a much better counterpick against spacies, puff just exerts too much control over the stage.

Tbh it could be any number of reasons and not all of them are perfectly logical. Final Destination very well may still be the best level (and by their record, it looks like it probably is). That said, if I had to hazard a guess as to why he opted out of it in this set, it’d be because of the edge-guarding. Specifically, it’s Zain acknowledging the threat of Hungrybox’s evolving yet unfinished Marth edgeguard flowchart, which leans into a base of lightshield edgehog + ledgehop invincible Fair/Bair + SH reverse-hit Fair/Bair + fall from edge reverse-hit Fair + various edge refreshes. With this as his starting point, he’s set himself up to be able to transition onto the edge in a variety of ways, including when his shield is hit by up-B, while checking mid-height recoveries with his Bair. This often pushes Marth lower, and forces him to make decisions about whether he recovers with or without a hitbox. Generally speaking, the goal of this kind of system is to force Marth to up-B and land on the stage floor, so you can hit your strongest punish; the other attacking elements are there to provide ways to punish him for doing the things he’ll do to try and combat your attempts to establish ledge ownership. It’s not the most consistent strategy, but it defines outcomes concretely, has clear rules that help limit the efficacy of Marth’s recovering Fair stuff, and the punishment potential is ridiculous (this is understandably common for strategies that involve hitting charged f-smashes and/or Rest as a key component). Knowing this, I think Zain selects Yoshi’s Story’s for its more robust low & mid height recovery suite (side platforms that are close to the edge, a wall you can hug to tech if she attacks offstage, and you can also use your stalls & buoyancy to try and recover for Randal). The edgeguard system Hbox is developing focuses a lot on limiting low recoveries; it seems sensible to me to add a bunch of stage features that make that task more difficult.
