This is step 1 in fixing this BS, just don't congratulate them for fixing everything when it's still not fixed. Everyone should still remain cautious with apex
You can tell a fanbase is mostly children when this "apology" makes them satisfied. If this were any other online game, people would be calling out how pathetic their response was, but because it's EA -- and this is already more than they normally do -- people are happy. It's honestly just sad
dude what is sad about this statement?? they changed the thing player wanted and tjey admit mistakes... what the hell is not satisfying about that? players who stay toxic are the problem imo.. bc there is no shame to make money out of free to play game... other games arent any different... people can be happy that they can buy the BP for free besically... every season @@pennynukenarc
I think the good news will come when they fix the cheaters issue, the servers issue, the audio issues, the battle pass and skins are just content that don't modify anything in the game. It a step forward, but doesn't fix anything within the core game, however i hope they start listening
I believe they did this on purpose. It's a smart way to get people to adapt to change. For example, gas prices. They raise the price so high until people begin to react. Then they lower the price just a bit, and it seem better. But at the end of the day, the price still went up.
This is exactly whats happening and it's not debatable. They think we are idiots and they are right. We allow them to act this way every time we say thank you for reversing some insane choice.
Ok but what is so bad about this change? Why not just announce a second BP without creating the whole outcry about AC purchase removal? This new system is undeniably better for f2p players. And the prices never went up in this case. In fact, You gain MORE 700 coin surplus as compared to 350 as a f2p player
Ok this a massive W considering this is EA and respawn we are talking about. However, we must not stand down until we see proper gameplay changes and action being taken on the cheaters. 👍
The word massive is sometimes throw so easily around here… this it what they always do… do outrage changes and then go back on it, to make themself look good… same story as always
why would you call a back pedal move "Massive W"? do you think community need to keep banding together to boycott the company, just so they would "listen" is a "Massive W"? this is not a Company "listening" , this is "damage control" The moment they post the battle pass changes, it already show how disconnect this company is with their players. we shouldn't have to go this far just to be "listen".
Judging by how theyve been guiding this game, this is just lies, they dont really care, theyre just trying to keep their cash cow mooing as long as possible
Honestly considering the game has still been pulling well over 150k players daily on steam alone (steam charts) and probably just as much if not more on console, I'm genuinely surprised they came out and said anything. This is EA we're talking about, the only thing EA cares about is money, and if their game still has 400-500k players each day it's only logical that they would ignore most criticisms until that changed so this is very surprising coming from them. HOWEVER, this apology also paints Respawn as the fall guys, taking the blame for something that was obviously an EA decision
@@snewp_e2139 That doesn't really mean much imo. It wouldn't be far fetched to assume that some suits at EA pressured them to take the blame, or for Respawn to feel like they need to take the blame so that those suits don't intervene
Am I the only one that thinks this was part of their plan to make themselves look better while still making more money, I personally think an issue like this was idiotic from the start and I think respawn knew this would happen so responding positively was always in their best interest so they can make it look like they are responsive to sort of mask other things they do.
Just about to comment this, totally agree. They just wanted community engagement, anyone with a brain would know changes like those would kill business, and if there's one thing EA is good at is business. They know these things
Who spends $20 or more on skins? Do you guys not have girls to take out on dates? Skins should be $5 dollars for a legendary, just look at Helldiver’s skins and how affordable they are compared to Apex Lgbtqends
Its sad that it was actually Respawn and not EA decision. The changes were made due to: data that showed low engagement on battlepass. What they failed to see was low engagement is due to other factors like cheating, stability, and SBMM. These play a crucial role with players playing and actually grinding out the battlepass. All they had to do was add better content to battle passes. Useless stickers and charms can go and artists can focus on quality content. You have a declining playerbase and somehow that didn't click as to why battlebpass's have low engagement!?
The problem is. Every time they have said "we F-ed up", in time, they have attempted it again without the uproar Gambling for items (Iron Crown event) -> 10 seasons later, you guys forgot about that issue? Cool, here's some rewards to gamble for Prestige weapons -> we are sorry, how about a system where you need to gamble for a chance to get a recoloured weapon, only if you unlock all other gamble rewards you can get this recoloured weapon
Yeah. When they announced this BS, I knew it was time to stop investing time and money into Apex. It will absolutely come back, just maybe in smaller steps. After all - when they first did the Iron Crown event, everyone hated it. Now, a few years later, they've established it as the new normal, but everyone has gotten used to it, so they're trying worse now.
The response was one of 3 options. 1) put out a statement doubling down on the bs 2) apology and revert 3) say nothing and double down on the bs Ill take option 2 whether you believe it's genuine or not.
This is like a bad relationship where someone cheats and tells you they’re sorry. They change for a while then go back to their old ways. Exactly what respawn is going to do.
bruh F cosmetics, lets see them handle cheaters and gameplay lol, dont praise words, especially by soulless corporate thats trying to milk you, praise actions that are good
@@johnnymonsterrrrexcept the guy is playing the game and clearly enjoying it. Maybe your view and problem on cheaters and gameplay is not same for everyone?
DO NOT GIVE THEM A SINGLE CENT. HOLD YOUR GROUND! This is the point most companies will turn a 180 after gaslighting their consumer base. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
@@zacharylewis417agreed. The devs are great and the game itself the most fun I have ever had in a pvp shooter. Every other game feels slow in comparison. But as always, the money hungry publishers behind the devs are putting everything in danger
"We don't need to raise our pitchforks and go lgldjslhdkdhjs and get really mad." Feels like a serious downplay of the issues plagueing the game and it just reminds me that content creators aren't really in touch with the majority player base. The problem is that we often feel like we need to raise pitchforks in order for them to do ANYTHING.
It’s nice to see an approved system that also potentially makes Respawn more money. There we go. Whatever happened to the lore this season with Horizon and Alter?
those "not difficult challenges" for the battle pass will probably be very challenging, it will probably be like "win 3 games" and then we gonna have Rat Legends for a couple of weeks
Cheating and Sever issues should be top priority. Either I get 100-300 ping for no reason every few matches, or I get beamed by a hacker every few matches.
Ah yes, classic respawn. Create a problem that didn't need to exist, then remove the problem to look good. Tbh, that's the game dev scene as a whole now. :/
We need to continue pushing for changes instead of letting up. The second they feel comfortable again they will try to continually push it further and further in their favor. Ea has been so egregious with how theyve handled this game.
I would of gladly pay money if they tied these changes towards dedicating time and resources towards gameplay optimizations, server issues, more creative ltms and more consistent content
"we don't need to raise our pitchforks and get really mad" That is literally the opposite what happened. Apex players have complained about cheaters and about the state of the game for a while now and ONLY review bombing got their attention. If it wasn't for BP changes being the last straw for everyone I doubt Respawn would have responded to cheater problem in the statement they made.
The premium and Ultimate distinction makes sense. Either you get more Apex coins and a few packs for the money (makes sense if you buy packs) or you get the "free premium". It might bring people into buying stuff they might not have, because the ultimate pass is kind of a deal and not that expensive. It is the correct way to do it. Don't take away what always has been there. Make something new that is actually interesting for the right people. I will not buy it because this game will not see any more money from me, for different reasons.
I feel like all live service style games like this they need to be more in touch with the community/players and should do seasonal development vlogs instead of just a wall of text seasonal blog like we get, put some connection and interaction into this stuff.
this is not the end of holding them accountable. keep in mind what they said about prioritizing game stability, qol updates, and most of all cheaters. if they do not uphold this we can't accept that like we have until now again. what we have today is a step in the right direction, but it was a step they only took because of us, the conversations we started and had for a game that we deep down truly enjoy immensely.
EA is never going to upgrade the RAM in the servers so I've pretty much made peace with that, however, the near complete lack of an anti cheat definitely needs to be addressed.
I had enough apex coins to buy the next battle pass if it were normal, but when I saw the changes to the battle pass I spent the coins and now the change was reverted so now I just have no coins
"...where again, we went off of the data and something that we had been looking at for many months as to what was the right way to do this." Reading this line in the interview gives me the vibe that either they no longer have a Community Manager, or worse, aren't listening to them. Data is valuable, of course, but it's inconclusive without context. A room can have 2 doors and everyone is only using one, but unless you have someone in the room telling the designers outside "the second door is locked. that's why everyone is using only one door", then the data will show that people only "want" to use one of the doors.
They need to do something about the legend token I have so much that I can't use them, they should allowed us to used them if we don't have apex coins.
Love they have that "The idea that players are only playing Apex and nothing but [Apex] is not reality" quote, and yet they think that splitting the battle pass into 2 addresses that? What part about having less time and challenges to grind levels values our time?? This whole interview is a load of BS.
I've never purchased a battle pass with Apex coins, they usually go to apex packs for me so I don't know why that was such a big talking point over the insane amount of cheaters and the trash servers, but I'm glad to see them so something due to the 80k negative reviews haha
Ok so I only have 1 thing to say about all this. They are going about the whole cheater problem the entirely wrong way. Cheaters are like bullets. You may be surprised to find that there is a massive difference between stopping a bullet and slowing it down enough that it doesn’t matter anymore. The cost difference is insane. If they stop trying to block cheaters completely and start working on massively slowing them down eventually they will simply stop because it’s way to big of a cost sink to do
"Moving forward we need to be more timely, transparent, and consistent in our communications with you." Wait where have I heard this before? Oh right, the Overwatch dev team before Overwatch 2. Almost verbatim. And then they lied about making a PVE mode for like a year.
Its great to see them acknowledge this, its another thing to see them act on it. I am not saying they won't but it means a lot more to me to see them taking action than to say that they will do better about communication.
To add some positivity to this comment section: I personally have actually seen a big improvement this season when it comes to matchmaking and cheaters, as well as server connection, so I do believe them when they say they are working on it.
Remember, it's only because of backlash. They 100% would've gone through with this. And they still will eventually, it's only a matter of time. Boiling the frog
I am happy that they have reverted the buying option for the battlepass and also kept the extra rewards we get, but i don't see the point of why we should thank them for reverting a change *everyone* hated in the first place. - except EA and EA-Shareholders. Same thing counts for the other stuff where they just adressed the current problems. They have just said that they know them and are working on them. Thats it. No details. Nothing specific. Just their word is worth nothing. Just look at their "promise" to change the matchmaker like 10 seasons ago... they said they will finally make the matchmaker more balanced for everyone and what happened? A balanced matchmaker that lasted for 2 weeks. After that? Everything like before. Even worse, the matchmaker now matches even lvl 1 noobs and normal average players with the top preds of any season - or atleast hardcore sweats with no life outside this game... They "adressed" the cheater problem before too and said that they have "upgraded" their anticheat. *This change lasted for 1-2 Days.* Then the cheater situation was as bad as always - or even worse! I will not trust them about anything they have "adressed" in this posts, till they actually fix their problems. I have stopped playing this game for a few weeks now and will continue to not play it till they have fixed their BS. My negative review on steam also stays till they seriously fix their game and i hope more people will do the same. And before i forget it, i haven't bought anything of them besides the battlepass for years, because i am so frustrated with this game's matchmaker. Fix it and i might consider buying something again. But not with this crap. Apex is the best designed BR or multiplayer shooter in general im my opinion and i don't like this game to die. Fix it Respawn! (No, i haven't played titanfall yet. I will in the future tho)
The battlepass is a way I can still earn apex packs as a lvl 3000 plus player, apex needs more default items (skins, weapon skins) I’m running out of things to grind in this game, I’ve gotten ten weapons lvl 100 plus (weapon mastery is basically done i will be done within the next two seasons)
Downloaded apex the first week it got on ps4. Played almost every season except for last. And when i heard about this season i deleted the game and i have no regrets about it.
You spoke, you kept on speaking, you cried, you shouted...but......... we listened when our income was affected, when we could not milk more from this game-business-product... that's the truth.
Apex fans are lucky. Epic is destroying Rocket League and the community has been very vocal, but epic just keeps posting pictures of new packs on their socials. Not, a, word, about any of the community complains being heard whatsoever.
EA only reverted the decision because of the review bombing. As that means new people that haven't played the game would be pushed away after seeing it's "overwhelmingly negative" therefore they can't get new people to the game to spend money (and also they saw that current players would stop paying money as well). They only listen when money is stopping to come through. We need to keep review bombing it until they fix all the problems the game has rn and create a good player experience
I think I’ve seen this film before, and I didn’t like the ending… (they apologised for the PK recolour but have now brought out the havoc recolour) so this apology means nothing to us
I mean anytime things get more expensive we all know why, its not rocket science. This is a great response to our feedbacks, but those cheaters gotta go especially in SEA server, I had to switch server to japan and live with 100+ ping instead of 30...
I would love to come back and play Apex but there's one thing that is pushing me away from any online FPS game that needs to be addressed. No matter the platform, 3rd party devices like Cronus Zen and similar needs to be detected and categorically banned from games. We all now how bad it feels to play against blatant cheaters with aimbot and wall hacks but when it comes to this type of cheaters, there's no way to tell if somebody is just an aimgod or something is going on underhand. This is a problem bigger then just apex. I've played with randoms my entire life and I was very talkative and you won't believe how many players are using this things as a standard and they don't even believe it's cheating. For them it's like having a better controller or keyboard and most of them are very young. This is bad in so many ways and the gaming industry is responsable for this.
Wow so helpful after I spent my accumulated coins from this season on that stupid 20 apex pack bundle thinking we won’t be getting the battlepass with coins.
BP change wasn't that bad. New event forcing us to pay 20X more to get those skins MAYBE is much worse I joined apex week ago, bought BP and I don't like any of BP skins, while the new event has AMAZIING skins :(
Talk is cheap, I doubt they’ll actually give a damn about all the cheaters and game stability and we’ll just be back to where we are right now within a month
I mean the milestone event is already fixed. Just don’t do it. All the milestone awards will be in store sfter event, and any legendary skins you can just buy right now for 1800AC. And Havoc will be in Exotic shop. So really if you just wait few weeks, you can get whatever you want without gambling
Ah the classic "we have tried the waters to see how far we can push our greedy little tricks and accidentally pushed it a bit too far. Now we will pretend to be sorry and care about the community so please keep giving us money"-switcheroo. Of course live service games need to generate money but you can't tell me that, much like the whole league of legends riot forge disaster, a game as big and popular as apex isn't generating enough to more than sustain itself. Smells like corporate greed. I mean, even I have bought skins in the game and in my 20 years of gaming that has only ever happened in one other game (which is deep rock galactic because the devs bloody deserve it)
This aint saving it for me, i gave up on Apex long before their bp change, they dont care, this is just them realising what they did nearly killed their cash cow The meta is out of hand, new guns are deliberately OP which is a terrible thing to do in most online shooters like this, why pick up any AR when the Nemesis does all their jobs and more, its BS, theres a reason balance matters The legend pool is over bloated, they cant balance the legends anymore without screwing a different one up, they shouldve stopped after Valk, each new legend just does the same thing as a current one but slightly different with the newest legend being a great example They wont say it but many of their choices are made by EA like the bp change, the change they made isnt about engagement, its about taking more money, if they wanted engagement, they should make the game better but dont The games sbmm doesnt exist anymore, no one wants to play game after game just to lose everytime to 3 stack preds, i was once above average in this game, now i feel like a bronze playing in predator and im sure many have the same issue Because Sbmm sucks, it makes the game extremely difficult for new players which specifically reduces engagement Respawn stopped caring by S15, everything wrong they could do, they did, everything right they did, they would inevitably make bad or even remove
Remember last year when they "listened" 😂 I don't believe it nor will I indulge this anymore. I feel like I finally walked away from a abusive relationship and I'm finally happy being away from it. Good luck y'all I'll be watching from the sidelines now
Too bad i already Uninstalled. Day 1 player, 7 mythic items. This was strike 3 for me. Strike 1 was iron crown, strike 2 was the peacekeeper reactive recolor, this is strike 3. Not installing again. If rEspAwn didn't pull this, i would've GLADLY given them another $200.
They have been fixing this game for the last 3 seasons and still do nothing. Just announce an account ban wave and that’s it. I’m just not buying what they announce anymore until I see some action.
