My dad recently passed away and this track always reminds me of him. He was my biggest idol. One day, I was in the kitchen with him while wearing an afx tshirt and he laughed at richard's funny face. i told him how much richard's music meant to me. He smiled but didn't ask anything afterwards. even though my dad wasn't really interested in my musical interests that much, i regret not showing him this track as well as other tracks by aphex. this track has been a huge part of my life for the past 9 years and is going to continue to do so while i greive over his loss. Richards music will always remain in a special place with me and may my dad rest in peace.
Excellent comment. I don't drive but was in a taxi the other day with a sky overhead that was very atmospheric will dull sodden greys and blues. Was a nice prelude to getting to the gym :)
this song creates the image of me browsing through the comments on my smartphone while listening to it and thinking i should have just put the damn phone down and listened
The feeling of writing your best poem and never reading it to anyone, not knowing if it's worth showing. The look she gives you when it's ok to be afraid, sitting under a tea olive in spring wind blowing,alive...
Sitting in my room in Leeds, England, feeling a bit alone and melancholic, between one high point and another that was to come. Golden rays on sun play outside my window.
Most of Aphex Twin's tracks in SAW Volume II (mostly the relaxing ones) sound like immersion in a deep pool with no end. And the final tracks of the album is like getting back up.
I feel lost, confused, uneasy, distracted, hopeful, helpless, meaningless. I feel like my head is about to explode. I feel like I've lived a thousand lives, and I'm only nineteen years into one. I feel deceived and beaten, mostly by myself. I feel the will to live, and yet see only dim uncertainty in the future of our humble planet. Even with thoughts pounding in my head, everything slowly pushing in on me from every direction...I can feel a certain somber peace in this music.
Aphex Twin is the only man, who brings peaceful, truth-full, and real conversations to youtube comments. i have never seen anyone rude on any of his ambient work, Scratch that, almost ALL of his work, including his EP'S LP'S and unreleased tracks, i have never fell inlove with a man more than Sir. Richard David James. i swear on my mother's beautiful eyes, i'm not saying this out of bullshit.
I actually found out about this thing, synesthesia, and that it was actually something that is quite rare. It has always been natural to me though. It's like you can appreciate music even more.
To me, there is synesthesia behind this song but it goes deeper than just colors. I envision a beautiful jungle while it's sunny outside and I am travelling above it from a first perspective, dipping down between trees and seeing a large waterfall flowing down from some cliffs, and towards the end I eventually travel into a giant hole in the ground filled in with a round stone wall that has ancient symbols written on it. And I see a blue creature that does not look like it's from this world.
Dear Dezki, I was in the same place where you are now when I was 23 years old (I'm 66 years old now). I stumbled into a church office at 8:00 one morning after having been tripping on half of a Blue Owsley (approx. 1500 mcg.) and the pastor of that church led me to Jesus. From that moment on I have had a lifeline that never fails. I was in a cult, I led all my fellow cult members to the Lord. That was in So Calif. in 1970. If I were you I'd read Matt. chapters 5,6,and 7, and go from there.
It's no good....i'm clearly gonna have to add Aphex Twin to the list of artists i just have to investigate properly.....which means buying as much of his stuff as possible. THIS track is gorgeous
***** They don't, actually. Each track is represented by a photograph instead of a name, these photographs can be found in the inside of the CD, vinyl and cassette versions of the album. They were given unofficial titles by some guy on the IDM mailing list so they didn't have to be referred to as "#1", "#24" etc. Blue Calx is the only track on the album to be given a name in addition to being represented by a photo, as it was featured on a compilation two years prior to the release of SAW II, title and all.
+Coen Turk You're welcome :) By the way, if you are going to buy the vinyl, the most common pressing (from the label 1982) is veeeeery bad and doesn't include two of the tracks, so avoid it at all costs. A lesson I learned the hard way :(
Who are you people? Are you like me? Do you wander in this unending sea of bullshit i call reality? I dont understand why aphex twin isnt more popular. It invokes so much thought and emotional experience that dwells in me.
I imagine a time lapse in the North Pole where the constellations and northern lights keep coming out and the gates of heaven form in the sky and something behind them says “i love you” w the strings
I caught a spider, then realizing it did not bite me, i let it go intact. Your question triggers nothing in me. There are no silhouettes where I stand and the sun has yet to rise.
I wander in it wearing a mask like the rest of us. Something tells me every person on earth would find something in this music if they didn't take their masks so seriously.
I know exactly what you mean. For example, take rubber johnny. If we were aliens and our babies looked like that, it would seem cute to us and not scary. Human babies would seem like the scariest thing ever. xD
I wonder if "yellow" is the color that this song is supposed to evoke (to a person who can associate sounds with colors). To me, it sounds more like a mixture of red, green and blue. (with some cyan notes as well). I guess my type of synesthesia isn't exactly the same as the author's (despite being very similar); the high notes sound like cyan to me and the "medium" notes sound yellow.
Hey Chris, I was brought up by parents who were so-called 'atheist.' My dad was a scientist and my mom was an intellectual. As a young adult I knew nothing about the Bible or about Jesus or about spirit realm things. Along the way I started seeking and true to Jesus' words "Seek and you shall find" and I found. I can tell you from some hard experience that dissing the Bible and Christianity is a big mistake.
Love this song. Also check out Girl/Boy song from Aphex if you are new to him.I also make music inspired by Aphex Twin but also branch out to other styles - u can check out Bliss by Kabbalistic Village.....check out my songs.I am from NY.Peace.Enjoy.
