In this video, we learn about how Apollo Scooters are tested. Our CTO Eloi explains what he's seen during his trip to the Apollo Factory in China in the last few weeks and how the rigs work.

100+ km in 2 weeks time that I have it! Will hit 700km within a couple of months with my hardcore commuting and die-hard scooter adventures!

First! Thank you for showing us the Apollo Go on the rig! I just hope the individual components, especially the motor, are tested for saltwater immersion and still work perfectly. That is to prepare for winter saltwater conditions in the streets for stubborn commuters like myself who never takes Uber rides unless its an absolute emergency in order to save money!

I didn't know this video exists when i commented in Mission Apollo: Episode 59 that it would be nice to see your testings. Great video. Now as a compltete scooter, I would like to see a real immersion like Water above the tires/battery and where we stand. At the same time and second test, by adding SALT to the tank, you could achieve the testing of salty condition before winter. Thank you so much.

Another test would be a test that would detect the City 23/24 "clicking" problem in the stem. It should be tested against some sounds coming off the bottom of the stem where the directional nut is, and trigger if noise level is "abnormal". A lot of City units has had this clicking problem recently.

Should build a “drop test” rig that picks the scooter up about 5 inches off the ground and drops it. Would be good for testing how the scooter handles repeated hops off of curbs and if the shocks are sufficient to prevent damage to internal components. A direct hop off a curb is a lot more stressful to the scooter than hitting a pothole and I think more people hop off curbs than expected. Especially on the higher end scooters and such that are designed for thrill and adrenaline. Could also create a “vibration test” that quite literally shakes the hell out of the scooter or its electronic components. Could stress test nearly every small piece of the scooter with a vibration table. Welds on the batteries, electrical connections to/in the controllers, bolts that could potentially back out etc. just from having the scooter on a vibrating table.

I 100% agree, will work on this

Nice video showing us the testing. Can the pressure test actually give the information for the stem or latch assembly before it reaches it’s threshold breaking point?

That's what I told the guys at minimotors. My Apollo pro started to produce water from the heat (condensation) and there's no way water got into my scooter. He said, you never know. I should send him this video. Lol

You still never know because all it takes is a gasket or some silicon to melt or chip and water can infiltrate.

Since I bought a city 2023I love it but the first thing definitely needs to be improved is the regen brake throttle. It should be operated as the hand bar as the drum brakes. For now the regen throttle feels like awkward. Secondly the buttons of the turning signal need to be replaced for the larger ones and it should be easily find without looking on it, also need to be reloaded bitter away from the throttles to avoid always accidentally hitting it 😂😂😂

Isn’t the 10k warranty frame only

Please puncture test or otherwise spray test tires or tire capacity leaks. Suspension is important, but not all tires are created equal and my Apollo just got a flat, 48 hours after unboxing. Segway and Yadea have high quality tires in my experience, others not as good sometimes. Also test packaging and opening of scooters - my brake line scraped either during or after unboxing. That said, Segway G2 and Yadea both gave me controller issues initially including scary dead stops at high speeds, the G2 has a rear bumper screw that loosens under suspension loads and when it goes, eventually the back bumper cracks and falls off. Yadea's frame is nearly all one piece and is very impressive, but suspension doesn't hold up to rain much. Still it is the only scooter I feel perfectly safe driving at speed on roads with potholes and turn signals are blinding. Larger wheels (10x3, maybe?) help too. Maybe a test for visibility distance, reflector visibility/distance, scooter being carried or scooter lying on its side e.g. in a car, how the scooter falls when you forget to fully extend the kick stand, extending the kick stand e.g. scooter with weight maybe. Centering nuts and how they fail, new to me coming from other scooter brands. Motor uphill test, motor under extreme reasonable cold or heat for long periods in different modes assuming trying to go at top speed - I've had some of my scooters sometimes turn off the motor without warning due to overheating, which is very annoying/life threatening sometimes, or the battery works extra poorly when cold. A fold and unfold test and how that affects wires- especially if you follow the Yadea model and run wires thru the stem fold. Honestly, Yadea's design is very interesting, look at the Elite Max. Also, knowing throttles can fail, it would be nice to have a mode where the brake handle is partly electronic so that it overrides acceleration throttle if pulled. Also if you could have a Segway-mode where regen kicks in when acceleration throttle is released, I'd prefer it. A mode where turn signals need a longer press to engage, with a short press to disengage might be useful too. Turn signals too easy to hit. Miss the left thumb triggering use of turn signals of other scooters. Do not miss the G2's beeping horn tho. And I love the giant bright light, tho it could always use more side visibility. I try to use the Garmin battery radar light to be more visible to cars behind me. Radar built in to the scooter that can talk to a light clipped to my bag would be fantastic. Talk to Garmin, make it happen. ;) Feel free to reach out to me if you want more third/first-party scooter feedback. Always happy to chat about scooters.

Hey is there a chance I could put the Apollo pro handlebars on my Apollo go so I can have wider handle bars would everything like the brakes and throttle still work?
@eloipecquet

Hey! You can't fit a curved handlebar on the Go because of how the headset is built! We are working on something that would allow that! ;-)

Why China? Get out of manufacturing in China. Plenty of other low cost friendly countries to manufacture in.
