Nice detail and spoiler for 2:04:57 If you hadn’t noticed, in all AA series the clicking text sound is lower for male characters and higher for females. And you can hear in this scene how the click becames higher :) Also you sometimes later can hear the lower sound from her when she slips into the male persona unbeknownst to herself
Thanks for another walkthrough episode! This is one of my favorite episodes, and I’m happy to see it in a fresh HD design.❤ Honestly the anime styled introduction is one of my favorite across the entire franchise. The way how it was introduced to the player is remarkable - gracefully falling awl and indicating three students might be working together or connected to the crime somehow….
Robin Newman is most likely not trans, but instead suffering from gender dysphoria. Although yes, exposing something like that in court is a terrible thing to do, and it’s only one of the main reasons why I hate this case.
Absolutely fun case. Hug was an interesting character...can't say the same about aristotales however. Also shoutout to Myrian for having one of the best happy sprites in the franchise. I grew to love her as the case progressed. About Robin it's just the devs playing with the male/female speech sounds. You can cleary see that this character is just an excuse to exploit this mechanic....shame tbh.
Holy crap this is the worst case in the series. Yes, even worse than Big Top. Robin. She had potential. I would have loved to see some actual representation of people with gender dysphoria. Robin Newman is not that. People with gender dysphoria DO NOT JUST SWITCH PERSONALITIES LIKE THAT. Not only that but when she act’s like a man everyone is like “omg he’s so manly” and when she acts like a girl everyone is like “oh my god she’s so feminine” ALL YOU ARE DOING IS REAFFIRMING GENDER STEREOTYPES. “Robin is so manly so there’s no way he’s a girl” IS LITERALLY THE ARGUMENT. *HOW DOES NO ONE SEE HOW PROBLEMATIC THAT IS?????* And then there’s Professor Means. I can not take this guy seriously, nor any villain in Duel Destinies. They try to be subtle about the whole “end justify the means” thing but it isn’t. It isn’t. Means is clearly the bad guy. I hate too how not subtle it is. Means literally argues that Juniper is guilty because “she follows my teachings to heart” if you’re trying to convoy a message this is not the way to do it. And THEN there’s the whole Dark Age Of The Law. Like everything in Duel Destines, I can not take it seriously. The name, it’s like a Anime Arc. The way everyone talks about it, it’s just trying to make it seem more edgy and in return I take it less and less seriously. Especially since the Dark Age Of The Law existed in Apollo Justice, yet no one brought it up there and guess what??? I still felt it!!! No being able to corner Daryan, Kristoph’s whole existence, that is what the Dark Age Of The Law should have been!!!!!! They just throw it out the window in Duel Destinies. Apollo Justice is not only better, but the best game in the series. This last point is a bit of a nickpick but what the heck. Throughout the case Juniper switches between calling Athena “Thena” and “Athena.” This is to represent Juniper opening up to Athena. Now this would be a cool detail and all if it WASN’T FOR THE FACT THAT ATHENA POINTS OUT WHENEVER THIS HAPPENS. Maybe, I dunno, let the players of your mystery solving game figure something out for once????? You don’t have to spoonfeed your player into understanding a character in a MYSTERY GAME. It’s a cool detail, one people will probally miss, and that’s good!!! Yet the game still points it out to you like “see??? See??? Juniper is starting to open up to Athena isn’t that so cool????” I KNOW. LET ME SEE THAT GAME. In conclusion, this case sucks. Thank you Larcy for making this walkthrough so that people can experience less of this case.
She’s not supposed to be a trans person her parents forced her to love as a man because they wanted a son which is actually pretty damn common. Means was a pathetic villain I agree and I hate how Athena kept pointing out when juniper would call her that stupid nickname why nit switch from Ms. Cykes to Athena?
Tbh in my opinion, Robin is one of the most interesting queer characters, because you can basically smell the writer's desire to write a trans character but not being able to due to possible censorship at the time. But when you look at it, while Robin is a cisgender woman in the technical sense, she _was_ raised and treated as a boy her whole life, supressing her girly desires and interests for what her parents forced upon her, which, as a trans person, resonates quite deep. Sure, she may not _technically_ be transgender, but her story is pretty much a transgender allegory

And by “has a gimmick” I mean “that gimmick is their whole personality.” Hugh’s gimmick is that he’s smart but actually dumb. Jinixe’s gimmick is that she’s scared of Yo-Kai. Starbuck’s gimmick is that he’s this hero but he sucks at it. And I hate to tell you, but Robin’s gimmick is her gender dysphoria. Really, if you took away any of the gimmick from these characters what would you get? Nothing. Because these gimmicks are all the characters are. They didn’t want to write a trans character, or a character with gender dysphoria. They wanted to write a character whose gimmick is that she act’s really manly, but is actually a girl. I hope I don’t need to explain how problematic that is.

Also, Robin is a character that, at her core, is a girl who has spent her whole life being forced to pretend being a man. Even if the writers didn't initially intend it, this fits very well with most trans people's stories. Also "I hope I don't have to explain how problematic this is" Please do. Please explain how a manly girl is problematic.

The problematic part is that when Robin acts as a man everyone refuses to believe she’s a girl. “He’s so manly there’s no way he’s a girl.” That line just rubbed me the wrong way. I’ll admit, I’m not trans. So I’m sorry if my takes are wrong. Maybe Robin’s super realistic idk. I wasn’t purposely trying to make anyone mad so I’m sorry if I did.
