I am glad I was baptized and wear all those labels they gave me with pride. They all mean I was smart enough and sane enough to leave that damned cult.

Thank you Living Truth for this video. I'm at the point where I feel I've rid myself of the jw cult terminology. However, I do use apostate. Maybe I'll start using exjw instead to avoid giving them that power even though they and everyone else who's changed religions is an apostate really. BUT the cult is the one who has perfected the misapplication of it and how it treats anyone who dares go against it.
@LivingTruth1
@LivingTruth1 6 лет назад
Thanks Joe. I feel the same.. rid of it. I never use the label 'apostate' to describe myself. I'm simply a former JW, exJW, non-believer... it's my past. I try to avoid labels since they can be so judgy! I find it funny how the Org basically demonizes the 'apostate' word... yet most, if not all, JW members don't realize that the founders of the religion were also apostates.

Orlando Padilla When I was a deep-in JW and Mini Servant, a 26 y.o. in 1998, I started dating a sister who had moved into our congregation. One of the first issues the elders came up with was "Dave, she's a 2-Hour publisher". They wanted me to marry "up" in JW's to "keep making my advancement manifest" if I married at all as my Circuit had already seen a lot of JW divorces and "the end" was "close"! Woooo! Plus she's black, I'm white, that "shouldn't" matter but in some selectively prejudiced and "shocked" judgmental JW's eyes that was a problem. How could I white guy like me be attracted to and marry a Chicago suburban South-sider and not someone from our KH? The audacity of me!!?? Then they picked on her personality because she was quiet, reserved and less outgoing being more private and guarded, not as gregarious as I was. An older sister acting as if she was my mom tells me "She's not a friendly person" before even actually getting to know her. Even elders on our Judicial Committee we had the same day we were married stated "you two have totally different personalities" never truly coming to understand how & why we fell in love and ultimately were married for 14 years. In retrospect, perhaps if they were not ultra-judgmental and dismissive but actually encouraging as a few JW's selectively were then my marriage would have lasted.

Those nomenclatures that you mentioned are all key words used by the society that could lead one to being disfellowshipped/shunned and labeled as an apostate which is the worse of the worse to those in the CULT. Members of the Watchtower organization constantly live in fear at all times. The Fear is ingrained into you, Obligation is drilled into you and Guilt controls you if you don’t live up to your obligations of meeting attendance and field service time. They are all in a FOG.

Apostates is them GB who have taken the seat of Moses .. because they have said Jesus has come back so many time and the false doctrine ,overlap is still alive and still make ones believe this lie!! . The bible says that God will give them a strong delusion in that they believe there own lies because the do not have the love of the truth , but had pleasure in unrighteous .Jesus will take there breath away shortly .

For an organization that teaches in their publications and in their discourses, that God is the ultimate judge of all our actions, they sure seem to spend an inordinate amount of time creating labels to place on those that are in disagreement with, or no longer want to be known as a JW. You'll not meet many more persons from a religion as judgemental, and critical as them. I recall back in 2004 right before I left, they were evening putting a lot of that loaded language in their Kingdom Ministry pamphlet, regarding use of the internet. Looking back now after having been away for so many years, the JW's are almost like an elitist, members only social club.
@LivingTruth1
@LivingTruth1 6 лет назад
I have felt that way before when I used to be a JW... basically feeling sorry for all the blinded worldy people. It is a superior/elitist type of brainwashing that the governing body likes to use, with a good portion of bullying tactics. All in the realm of negativity.

Thank you for the video. I am not disfellowshipped yet, the elders don`t know that I`m not convinced anymore that god exists. But, I`m thinking in making a summary of my findings about the organization and bout the bible, printing it, and handing a copy to each elder. After that, probably, Ill be called an apostate. Thankfully, we don`t live in the bible times, so I dont need to fear being stoned to death - Deut 13:6-10. 😜
@LivingTruth1
@LivingTruth1 6 лет назад
Thanks! Remember that you don't have to validate yourself to them, and there is also a VERY low chance that they'll actually read your summary. The result will disfellowshipping... which is a fine consequence if you have no family to lose. Which is why it's easier to fade out. But yes.. no stoning! Yay! ;)

Kevin Willis Thank for your concern. I used to have that kind of concern toward other people also. Well ,let me address what you wrote in parts. Please, don`t take anything that I am going to write as an offense. - My view of god was not ruined by JWs nor any other religious group. Actually, I think christian religions do the best they can to apply a heavy makeup to the god of the bible. And Jws especially, with their interpretation about hell. - I read the bible, from the beginning to the end, it took me 4 years. I also do a lot of research, not only with the NWT. - Yeah, there is a lot of "evidence" in the bible, for whatever you want. Every religion and every person that use the bible is able to find in it anything they want to justify their believes. Those people, as the bible itself, shot in every direction, and some times hit something. - There are good people preaching a lot of things. I will look for Justin Peters. Perhaps I already now him, just don`t remember. - I cannot choose to believe in anything. Let me suggest you some material: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TRB0TDq8tWE.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y201QzDdzbg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wguAQHWVcZY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hm4GtxOOqeI.html Let ask you: - How do you conciliate, for example, 2 Samuel 12:13-15 and Numbers 31:1,13-18 with a good and merciful god? - What is you definition for evidence, does it help you to find truth? If you read all of this, thank you very much for your patience!!!

I agree with your points on the label Apostate. It is a term JW's use to elevate their perceived position of correctness and degrade any other viewpoint. In other words they are right and everyone else is wrong. There are two ways for JW's to justify what they believe in, brag about it and label it the as the only truth or tear down any opposing idea. The meaning JW's use for the word apostate gets worse and worse now saying it implies a diseased condition that can infect others and that they are under the control of Satan. So by applying the word apostate to ourselves, as the JW's define it, only works to inflate their warped pride. But by the dictionary definition of apostate I was encouraged to be an apostate when they knocked on my door as I already had a religion and left it to become a JW. So I must have been a mentally diseased Methodist infecting JW's all those years. Thank you for your thoughts and videos

Back in the day the term 'apostate' was really only ever used in connection with a baptized exJW who left and joined another religion. It morphed into any exJW who actively and openly opposed the society and who practiced things forbidden like holidays or joining the military. The word 'opposer' was limited to anyone not an exJW who was actively trying to lead members 'astray' or was causing trouble. Today the term apostate is thrown at anyone who opposes the organization. Apostate is a conversation stopper. If you desire a JW not to hear you simply tell them that you're an ex baptized member. While I was an associate I was never baptized. So technically I can't be disfellowed. I am certainly an apostate though because I am active in helping Jdubs leave the organization.

The term apostate the way the WT wields it and swings it around like a razor sharp sword equally applies to them. JWs are trained to think that nothing has changed in the belief system of WT/JW but when you analyze their past you see very dramatic shifts in thinking, or beliefs, or teachings. Old beliefs have been abandoned for new beliefs. Apostasy. Of course they would never apply the term to themselves because they demonized the term and changed it into their own unique parameters of definition. Just like how the Bible defines what constitutes a false prophet perfectly defines what the WT has been since it’s inception, but the WT conveniently weasels themselves out of it by changing how they represent themselves. In one breath they are imperfect men doing their best, prone to errors in doctrines and practices, but they will DF you for not believing in their teachings, and when TOMO3 gets up to speak, he literally wants you to think Jehovah is whispering every word he says into his ear just before he speaks it. It’s just so absurd no wonder so many are walking away.

I just looked up the meaning of "apostasy" and it's from a Greek word meaning "political rebellion" or turning away from God (????) so when the JW'S say we are apostates they might be wrong bc some of us still believe in God.

Thanks. The basic problem is when a member perceives a discrepancy between whats stated in the Bible and what the organization passes off as truth.The society does not welcome independent scrutiny of their often nebulous policies.Blood fractions, the generational overlap etc are attributed to 'New Light' and organizational refinement , yet they cannot be substantiated scripturally .A certain amount of latitude is permitted as far as asking questions is concerned, but ultimately, doubting adherents must align their thinking to wachtower or receive the unflattering moniker of apostate.This pejorative term once applied to someone immediately closes the curtains of further discussions. To an outsider looking in it indicates how little the witnesses really understand their own religion , a truly sad state of affairs. Regards from the UK.

Lots of JW's were Catholics before the convert to this new JW religion. So all these JW's are also Catholic apostates, since they abandoned there old religion. I'm also a double apostate, since I unbaptised myself from the Catholic religion and after that i was disfellowshipped from the JW's, altough i wasn't baptised as one. This is apparently a misconception, that you are safe in the organization as long you're not baptised. When you are an approved publisher for some years, the disfellowshipping is exactly the same as with a baptised member. You're name is called from the platform and the congregation got warned not to have contact any longer with you. The shunning policy has pagan roots as the Watchtower discribes it in one of the articles. They only changed the name from ex-communication to disfellowshipping. It isn't Christian at all, since we have to love friends and enemies.

I guess I would be labeled such. Apostate that is. Back in 1984 I had an affair with a SDA Member, and she had informed her Church and Denomination Leadership of my JW Background. obviously they did not know of our affair. Anyhow, they were quite tak'en with the fact that they had a JW Minister in their Arena, with many meetings and deals up thru the ranks of their Church, I went back to Academia, I received and started with a Scholarship with the Seventh-Day Adventist in exchange for Sharing the JW Society's Mediums for Field Publishing among other Etc wth the Adventist/HHES Literature Evangelist Field. I finally had to and had a series of meeting with Pastor George Knowles "Former JW himself".Lay Ministry's Director for the Seventh-Day Adventist denomination General Conference in Boston,MA in 1985. Feel Free to ask whatever you like.

It sure is! Dictionary defines Apostate as: A person who renounces a religious belief or principle. JW.org defines Apostate as: someone who has not stood fast in the truth and has deviated from the God of truth, and rather has become ensnared by the Devil.... which all believers must avoid!

You are NOT an APOSTATE if you still believe in and LOVE Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. Apostate merely mean someone who have changed their religious or political belief. We have not changed our RELIGIOUS BELIEF. Our RELIGIOUS BELIEF is in JEHOVAH GOD and JESUS CHRIST, and that has NOT changed. So, don't pay those Watchtower Witnesses any mind.....Trust and believe Jehovah and Jesus Christ aren't. Remember to stay true to Jehovah and Jesus Christ our lord and savior. Jehovah and Jesus Christ are very proud of us for listening to what they instructed us to do at 1 John 4:1; Matt 7:15-20; 1 Thess 5:20-21; Jere 23:16; Acts 17:11 and Acts 20:29-30. We are INSTRUCTED by Jehovah to LOOK into things and to TEST the teachings to make sure they are in harmony with Jesus teachings. Watchtower witnesses have made that organization a god, and Jehovah said he is a very jealous God and not to put ANY other god before His face (Exo 20:5; Deut 4:23-24; Exo 34:14). They are the ones who should be SHUNNED and should be worried regarding their relationship with Jehovah and Jesus. Thank you so very much for sharing. You are going to be alright. May Jehovah BLESS you abundantly for helping so many others.
