Early 90's early techno (edm) was magic. I was a metal head, spent every weekend back then with friends driving city to city exploring new towns that had Tower Records store 's outing their import sections for techno music. I feel bad for kids these days they don't get to explore other towns and see the country for frivolous things like music and import video game stores because they don't have to.
EDM is Avicii, Pryda, Swedish House Mafia. Its an insult to call techno "EDM". Its not a generic catch all term but a horrible music marketing term from the late aughts. Timbaland and Pharell have to be considered EDM then because you can dance to a lot of hip hop and its all made with synths, samplers and DAWs
@@astrolabe1976 forgive me, I'm old, doesnt EDM stand for Electronic Dance Music? Techno was the catch all for music kids with computers could make snatching samples and banging out catchy dance music to incredible epic rave tracks in the 90's, everything from Dutch hardbeats, happy hardcore to c&c music factory fell into the category. Who gives a fuck?
90s St Louis scene was POPPIN!!! I was a photographer during the "dubstep phase" a decade ago and as cool as it was it wasn't what I remembered AT ALL. Cheers to the friends who never made it out alive... I hope this was playing when you reached the other side.
True, I discovered the early industrial back in 94 when I was just 8; much to my parents dislike I got absorbed by it and they eventually (after years of arguments, groundings and the destruction of loads of bootleg cassette tapes I kept smuggling into the house...) let me be. Now I am 32 and I will surely bang my head to it until go past 100!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@Rathardican I not said it not started before but before that point it was underground, it was the "Dance" music era, yes some house poped time to time among the dance songs but what really started the electronic buzz was when the acid boomed and got popular with the blade song, after that point electronic style evolved exponentially and dance rapidly decreased.
