App State vs Georgia Southern THRILLING Ending | 2022 College Football 

I really wish this game wasn't behind the ESPN+ pay wall. It had much more at stake than some of the other games that were airing.

It's one of the pitfalls of being in the Sun Belt Conference. You don't get any respect nationally and all your games are aired, if at all, on ESPN+.

Bowl game deposits are only $20 which is tempting to say the least but that means a long bus ride to far as Texas and back.

@Ll L Yes, but 2 of App’s wins were against FCS teams; so only 1 of those wins counts. You can have 6 wins to be bowl eligible so long as 5 of them are against FBS schools, App only had 4.

@Ll L App State had some kind of scheduling mixup and had to scramble and schedule a second FCS opponent at the last minute. You can only count one FCS win as part of your six to be bowl-eligible, so they actually had to win 7 to make it since they had two FCS wins.

@@Moose6340 It wasn't a mixup, just realignment at work. Non-conference games are scheduled years in advance, and Marshall went from "move from C-USA to Sun Belt not even announced" to "member of the Sun Belt" in less than a year. Ideally, they'd have fudged the divisions a bit and put Marshall in the West, allowing for a conference schedule without App State-Marshall thereby allowing them to play in a game that wouldn't count towards the conference standings (California and Colorado did this in 2011, the latter's first year in the Pac-12, and UNC and Wake Forest sometimes do this just for the hell of it because the ACC's eight-game conference schedule (and thus, only two crossover games) means that conference rivals can sometimes go way too long without facing each other. But they didn't do this, and as such, both Appalachian State and Marshall were forced to find new opponents on short notice. Marshall also had two FCS wins, but they were 8-4 overall so it wasn't relevant.

Probably not, to be honest. Erk won 3 national titles in his 8 seasons, the first 8 seasons of the whole football program. They went 83-22-1 in his time there. No way he's grinning about a win to finish 6-6 over a fellow 6-6 team.

After struggling all year, and prior years, this game was was a big one. This hatred is real. Playing our rivals for both a bowl game AND to not allow App to bowl (breaking their bowling streak since joining the fbs), while beating them in double overtime after missing a chip shot of a fg. Yeah, rushing the field was warranted.
