Tully Blanchard is my favorite wrestler of all-time! Love to see new videos posted now that Tully isn't involved with AEW any longer. This seems to predate Tully joining AEW. Listening to him speak, I can understand why he wasn't long for AEW because it's a totally different world than what he was used to in SWC/JCP/WWF. The landscape has changed so drastically in pro wrestling Tully probably has seen enough. Tully's last match with FTR on AEW Dynamite was great to watch and I was happy he got that opportunity. As a fan I feel cheated that Tully totally disappeared at the end of 1989. I'm sure he feels worse for what happened to him. The ring entrance with him wearing the robe and the NWA US Heavyweight strap and FTR wearing their gear and the NWA World Tag Team straps, the match, and the promo after was Awesome! I enjoyed the interview but would have loved to hear more about him being a fantastic heel and his feuds with Dusty and Magnum because they are EPIC! All the different types of matches they all had against each other is PURE GOLD!!
This was pretty cool as was never big into Tully or Arn from Four Horsemen only Luger not Flair ;). I wonder if he was with AEW when Shane did this. Guy is really quiet nice dude. I remember he was a real heel. Man even the stuff with Baby Doll or others. Interesting how many of them are Christians or something along those lines. I guess if your doing all those moves it can't hurt to pray a bit hehe. Many can sorta tell the story of Good or Evil. I saw One Million Years BC other day with commentary explaining how relates to Bible. Even how Volcanic Eruption is like Judgement of crossing certain lines or laws. I'll always have fond memories of Jim Crockett Promotions for Road Warriors to Ricky Steamboat. SAbu still my Favorite Wrestler though hehe :).
Shane kind of makes sense because if you think about it Vince McMahon did destroy the momentum of the four horsemen he hired Tully and Arn then he hired Ric flair then Barry Windham and they all just sort of toiled in the WWF not really doing anything but it really damaged WCW AKA Jim Crockett promotions Shane makes a lot of good points
Arn & Tully won the tag team titles and were booked in the main event of Survivor Series of 1989. Flair came in on top, won the Royal Rumble, and was a two time WWF champion. Barry didn't do anything because he wasn't over. Also, a promoter couldn't trust Barry. He would up and leave the territory at the drop of a hat. He really stunted his own momentum.
Vince made Flair, Tully and Arn Champions. Who ended Demolition's 14 month title reign? Who tore down the house with the Rockers on Saturday Night Main Event?
Tully should have been the NWA champion . It should have been him that beat Ron Garvin , not Flair . Imagine the angle with Flair livid to be 2nd banana behind Tully ? They would have had a Horsemen Civil War brewing . Tully got more heat than Flair . Flair was popular , Tully reviled . It would have popped the territory .
That would have been great. I would have loved to see it a year earlier against Dusty Rhodes. As NWA National Heavyweight Champion, Tully issued a challenge to then NWA World Champ Rhodes before he had a match vs. Flair for the title in St. Louis. After Dusty won the match in controversy, Tully violently attacked Dusty and left him with a bad wheel. A few days later Flair won back the Big Gold from Dusty. Tully even said in a promo on WCW TBS that he didn't mind that Flair had lost the match to Dusty, which is interesting because Tully didn't care, he and Flair had heat in 84/85 before they became Horsemen. Tully should have been the one to beat Rhodes in the late Summer of 86' to become NWA World Champion. He could have held it until Starrcade and lost it back to Dusty, who eventually would lose it back to Flair. That could have been a cool path to go down in JCP, but unfortunately it didn't happen.
Shane is mixing up the Enforcers Arn and Larry jumping Dustin and Barry, they slammed Barry's hand in the door later in 1991. Dusty was attacked in thr Crockett parking lot by the original 4. Broke his arm with a bat. Both Rhodes and Windham drove up ina convertible Mercedes.
