Thanks, that was very interesting! I live in Northeast Ohio, and think I'll be hitting some of the trail this summer. Checked their web site and it looks like I can ride my bike on the trail. Turning 76 in a couple days, so pedaling a bike is easier on this old body than walking! lol
Great parade footage Maddie! The chapter of your thru hike may have felt like it closed, but you wrote that book with your blood, sweat, and tears Ranger. You'll have it forever. A new chapter, a new book...I cant wait for what's next! 😊 ✌️
Hi! Teflon here, Class of 2021. Great video and I loved your commentary. My husband and I did Trail Magic for you last year north of Pearisburg 😊 I was there at Trail Days this year. I wish I could have seen you again!!!
So proud to be part of the Beer in Beautiful places community. Your hike will always be an inspiration. 😂 Hilarious, I’m on your video getting pelted with water during the parade. Meeting you and Smoke briefly at Trail Days was a highlight of my 2024 thru hike attempt, thank you for being so relatable and kind 😍 Hope to share a beer with you two down the road, somewhere beautiful 👏🙏
I was hoping to see PacMan in this video. I've been watching a few hikers this year and I was surprised The Yellow Brick made it to trail days. Im glad you got to meet it, LOL!
So fun! I am definitely making my husband go to this next year. You interviewed three of the people he's met on his hike this year, so I really enjoyed getting to see them (I only knew their trail names). Thanks for bringing all of us along for your weekend!
that has to be a great thing , getting back together with at least some of the people you knew / hiked with , do you think you'll ever do the AT again?
I’ve been thinking about that a lot, and maybe! It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and my body did not like it, but there’s such a unique sense of community and comradery!
Because you mentioned New Years, I wonder if you think of it as just a big party? I hope you watched the first minute of this and saw there’s two sides to the event, still plenty to do if you don’t want to party! Although if you just mean New Years as in you don’t feel like leaving the house, I get that!
When I talk about myself and others still getting what we wanted from the experience without sticking 100% to the exact, assigned trail, it’s a matter of hiking like 2000 or 2100 miles instead of 2200. It’s up to you what you find impressive, but I still think of it as an accomplishment! ☀️
