Thanks so much! I love okra and I’m so greedy that I love these big pieces. We went to Halls Steakhouse in Greenville SC and their okra was cut like this. It wasn’t tasty but it was beautiful. This is where I got the idea from😉
@@JackiesSouthernSoul Ty, I have made it in gumbo and jambalaya, but it is a bit slippery. I love the lengthwise cut and a quick deepfry gives it a nice crunch. Ty for the great recipe 😋
That okra looks and sounds so delicious! I love that you get the girls input on your video even if they don't necessarily like it. But let's be honest, kids can be picky about stuff like okra especially if she's use to having it cooked a certain way. Either way that looks absolutely AMAZING and I will be trying this recipe. You are correct. They eat so much junk that it ruins home cooking for them. Mine are fair weather eaters. Sometimes they like what I cook sometimes they don’t. When their taste buds develop they will run home to me😉
Hi Jackie! I sure can tell we have alot in common. Grew up on garden vegetables!!!! I love my fresh vegetables from the garden. I loved your zucchini recipe and today's okra recipe looks definitely eye appealing! Tell Lauryn I have a granddaughter named Lauryn and she also is my "greedy" girl!!!! She sure can put down some food!! Lol! I have to tell her that as long as it's healthy go ahead. Now she is a vegan but loves her vegetables. Hey Sheryl! Growing up and having gardens all around me was as natural as the rain coming. It’s just in my blood to want to plant vegetables. My okra and peppers are pretty plentiful right now and I consider them my gifts from Mother Nature. I’m glad that you like my videos yesterday and today Lauryn is growing legs so she eats a lot and sleeps a lot. She’s going to be tall like her Dad. She just turned 10 in September and already in a size 8 in women’s shoes. Big feet to support her height when she’s grown. Her Dad always says, as long as she’s taller than you she’ll be fine. I’m 5’3”🤷🏽♀️! Jalayla is just as tall as Lauryn but she’s 12 turning 13 in January. She doesn’t like some of the food that I cook but she’s always willing to try it. Hey also I sometimes take the okra and slice it once longways making two pieces… Then I hit it with the egg wash and then cornmeal (plus whatever seasoning you like) Then I simply pan fried it in a little olive oil and man it’s great. It looked like I had fried a mess of small fish lol but it was good. The best part is you only have the one slice per pod vs the traditional way of cutting all the coin pieces.
