I just purchased a 2016 Wrangler Unlimited Sport. It has the stock stereo in it, no video screen, just good 'ol fashioned stereo. Will this stereo with Apple Car Play still fit in the chassis/casing or is this too big to fit? I know it fits yours but you have a Sahara which had a video screen in your original stereo. Thanks in advance!
Hi Steve! Thanks for this wonderfully put together video!! I'm curious about who you reached out to for the installation as I too am looking to purchase the Pioneer Stereo. Thanks again!
Still with newer stereos do you still have to plug in the iPhone literally to get it to do CarPlay? I know I rented a car a while back and it just connected wirelessly to all the CarPlay features. I know this video is a little old as well.
Wiring Harness? Installed a Joybring off Amazon in his 2013 wrangler but wouldn't work- does this one come with a wiring harness adapter or would that be seperate
I have a 2013 JK and just bought this same stereo! I am having trouble connecting to apple carplay. In your video I heard you say you need to plug in your phone. How do I plug in my phone to connect?
There is a USB port in the back of the stereo. You will need to route a USB extension cable from the back of the stereo to wherever you’d like to connect from your Jeep. Some people run it out of the glove box because it is the easiest place to access from behind the stereo. You can also run the cord below the stereo and out the carpet near the cup holders. I had mine mounted right by my e-brake. A hole needed to be drilled so I’d use a professional for that. I hope that helps!

Hi Steve, considering getting a jk wrangler Sahara soon and this is a great touch to modernize the Jeep. If you don’t mind me asking about how much did you pay to have someone install this set up?
I believe it was around $200 to install the stereo, connect the steering wheel controls, install the back up camera, and mount a USB port so I could plug in my iPhone for apple carplay.
do I have to plug it into a wire to get it to go to apple carplay or can i connect my phone through Bluetooth to apple carplay? The video said it had Bluetooth but when he was talking about apple carplay, he said to plug it in.
im looking onto buying this new stereo for my wrangler. did you have to buy other stuff for them to connect it to your wheel when you want to change the song or volume? thanks!
Late response but for anyone who happens upon this... You do. Has to do with the way the Chrysler amp etc is setup. Won't give you Bluetooth audio through front and back speakers so they install it so that the front and back booth draw audio from just the front speakers via the radio plug. It's unfortunate but not really noticeable. I have the alpine upgraded factory system and just got the android wireless version of this radio and sounds loads better. No longer muffled and super bass distortion. Clean audio with factory speakers
Great video Steve. Really well explained. Quick question, did you need to visit a dealer to get the backup camera activated when in reverse? From what I understand, they must enable a feature for this to happen. Let me know if you have the answer to this. Thanks
I think if you are using the stock radio like the one he removed and want to add a backup camera you have to take it to the dealership but not on an aftermarket radio.
you typically have to buy aftermarket wiring harness that adapts to whatever specific car you have kinda like the middle man between your stereo and your car@@layneholmes3527
After the install, did you have any problems with the stock compass? I had a new stereo installed and my compass reads East, all the time. I've tried resetting it with no success.
That's why I went with the Sjoybring- on Amazon for 150- installed with an included backup camera in my tacoma and it works so well. You have a volume knob as well which is what I noticed missing here too.
Jeep Wrangler, that's a stupid car when it comes to the radio, that's so stupid where you think about it and change it, that's a stupid car That was a big mistake where I bought this car, I'm an idiot
