Apple realized that the business model of the fitness industry where most customers pay for a membership and then never show up is something they could get on board with too.
Wow, why is everyone so negative about it? Everybody knows there’re free to watch workout videos on RU-vid. But the time and energy invested to find the right ones with best qualities and desired duration are what flinch everyone from doing it. Plus, with the integration of Apple Watch and the ability to display your biometric data on the big screen keep you focused on workout per se.
@@omytupapa I take out the guessing work out of the equation when working out, Nike does offer it for free but you don’t see the detailed metrics on the Apple Watch. You won’t see trends on Nike (unless you pay up an extra fee as well) It’s all about convenience and integration with other Apple devices as Apple markets it, that’s the one unique feature other companies can barely do
@@Jay_Script i undesrtand and i myself use the Apple Watch it don’t need it to see metrics on the screen! As a note , there millions of videos on RU-vid so why pay for the same when they are free, it just can pass through my mind unless you want to keep making Apple richer!
@@omytupapa If people want to use it, why do you care and so passionate? Calm down and continue to watch your free workouts on RU-vid. It’s just a fitness app review. Nobody is putting a gun to your head. Will I buy it? No, but take a chill pill geez.
Not a fan that I can’t use on a regular TV. I only have the iPhone so the screen is so small! During One of the cycle classes the instructor wouldn’t stop talking about music festivals and concerts it was honestly so annoying I couldn’t wait for it to end, and not because the workout was difficult. I won’t be renewing after my free 3 month trial.
I feel like this wil be VERY beneficial for college students like me especially being stuck in the house. So like on winter break and stuff like that I see this being a great way to unwind from a long semester and re-centering the mind and body for a fresh start. Imma have to check this out
I’m so excited I can’t wait to use it! I’m excited to do the yoga. 🧘🏼 I love how my watch is integrated into what I’m doing so I know what I’m accomplishing.
Yes I was super disappointed by this, with my iphone I couldn't aiplay my workout to the tv, seems crazy that I have to go spend $150 just to get my workout displayed on the tv.
@@sleuthytv1228 Not trying to be rude but you are wrong, new Vizio TV have Airplay 2, My Hisense and TCL Roku TV have airplay, new Samsungs have Airplay, Roku TV Stick+ have Airplay added via software update.
Thank you for a thorough review. It’s been comical watching other tech channels review the new fitness feature by people who never workout nor have any idea of how to evaluate effective workouts. I think you nailed it at the end... it won’t replace your gym workout, but the drive will complement it. I’m excited to use yoga and core workouts to my already thorough cardio and weightlifting workouts.
Fitness+ is a no go, it has no ability to mute music so your stuck with the terrible choices that are probably permanently baked into the workouts, so unless you wanna mute the whole thing you won’t be enjoying the music unless you just don’t care, and you must have the new version of Apple TV otherwise your gonna be watching it on a small screen, it is not compatible with airplay you will get sound but no video, there’s no way to mirror it so don’t bother, these 2 things alone will be a hard pass for many users, a shame and a huge missed opportunity.
This service is really interesting as someone who simultaneously wants to be introduced to fitness training and has a deep love for Apple’s ecosystem. The gamification of exercise through ‘closing your rings’ is already such a great way to incentivize fitness through the Apple Watch, but it’s always needed something like this.
@@southbaycommuter That’s a great idea, except the only devices that show up is my Roku and HomePod for AirPlay. My MacBook isn’t showing up. Edit: Also, I tried using the dock connector by doing it the wired way between both devices. Except when I opened QuickTime on my MacBook, everything streamed from my iPhone, except for the video itself. I feel like it’s protected in a way.
@@Dinosaursof I agree, that’s probably the real reason I can’t stream to an AirPlay enabled streaming box 😭😭. That’s so like Apple for them to do that.
My only complaint about it is that there aren’t programs. I’d like some structure like a 60 or 90 days program I can check off everyday. Maybe they will add this in the future since the AF+ is fairly new.
I've had an Apple Watch for awhile but just recently started the free trial because most of my workouts are done outside and lately it has been really gnarly out. I tried a high intensity workout and it really got my heart going! I like how they have three instructors with different degrees of intensity, I tried to keep up with the highest intensity instructor but eventually had to ramp down a little. It was a nice change of pace and gave me new ideas for my regular exercise routine.
A few questions I have are: Does it work with any of the existing applications like Nike Run? Are you able to “compete” with friends through the Fitness +? Are there any “guided runs” where you have a coach in your ear motivating you the way Nike Run has?
I don't see why this needs to be a separate app with its own unique subscription. The watch is a device that's marginally useful for working out, but it doesn't need to be on the screen because it's already on your wrist. This should just be a channel in Apple TV+, it doesn't need to be a separate app and subscription. It just seems like a really cheap way to charge you extra money for what is basically just a video with superimposed watch information that's already on your wrist. I don't think its a bad product but I don't see it being worth the subscription. It would be better as a value-add to an Apple TV+ subscription.
From what I’m seeing they’re all short workouts and very light exercises, in my opinion these are more meant for girls and not something to do if you plan on seriously adding mass and getting strong.
@@omarndhs this has nothing to do with gender😐 it’s meant to encourage people to work out in their free time, and the service has been out for a few weeks, i’m sure more intense workouts will be added.
I love betina!! She is my favorite!! I did my very first Apple Fitness plus strength workout and a 10 minute core workout with her on Monday and I’m still sore lol
the nike training app seems the same and even has that exact same trainer and it’s free right now. i guess if they start charging again i may consider switching
It just asks for one person to start the app with their watch....either person can start it BUT it only shows that persons stats on the screen. The other persons stats can be seen and are still monitors but only on their watch....assume they might need to open up the exercise on their watch.
That is a nice feature, multiple users per session. Makes for better motivation having a partner to workout with. If this service becomes successful, I’m pretty sure this feature will be added eventually. Also remote workout syncing! Your partner can be anywhere in the world and the both of you can work out at the same time!
the trainers in these videos are ja ja ja ja jacked and the workouts they give you on this app won't get you there. it would be awesome if they could give you some more options like a workout plan to follow for a month to build muscle or get better endurance. they should definitely add things for more advanced people to get stronger. all in all I have used It the last two days and they are fun especially if you have got bored with your workouts or maybe you stopped working out for the last couple of weeks and need something to get you back into it then this is great.
Really like the workouts - but REALLY disappointed that Apple is making us purchase an Apple TV to stream to TV set in workout room. Purchased the watch and the subscription but iphone too small to really see the workouts. Now to see on bigger screen I need to purchase either an ipad (then only on iPad screen size) or an Apple TV (newer version) to stream to a large enough TV set. Seems like a money grab from Apple!! BTW - Apple does let you see the 'Previews' on the larger stream through an Apple HDMI adapter, but cuts the video as soon as you start the actual workout.
Seems like Apple listened, the nest WatchOS and iOS update will include Airplay streaming! Rumored to be coming at the end of this month so just hang tight.
I like this review, she is not a fitness die hard, just a regular Jane showing a regular workout, love the rowing, hopefully they have 30 minutes or longer, Great job!
80 bucks a year is a no brainer. Especially since it not safe to hit the gym. 3 months free, so will definitely try it out. My gym offers their online version for 50 bucks a month. I would love to help out the local small business but I am struggling with income as well.
I play Ring fit adventure as a form of workout and sometimes when wanting to get my workouts in on the go like vacations or wanting to do some workouts outdoors, it might not be doable, so this makes me definitely wanna consider getting an Apple Watch and do Apple Fitness.
I'm enjoying the beginner classes for now with 3 levels of activity shown. Some I can do the higher levels, some the lower. Love the shorter workout times, 20 or 30 minutes. A person can just stop at any time during the day and follow one. Love the cooldowns as well. The settings are pleasant, the trainers friendly and energetic. They don't waste too much time over-explaining the moves which is fine for people who have done classes before. For people new to exercising, some safety cautions might be needed, but personally, I'm fine. It's fun to watch the heart rate change, altho' sometimes my watch isn't connecting with the TV on that. I've changed to a different band for a snugger fit. Actually I think Fitness+ would be a reason to get an Apple watch because it's about health! And gym memberships (forbidden now) aren't cheap either!
The nike training app is free and is basically the same thing less the apple TV / iPad support. Lots of free workouts of different kinds and the usual gamification of fitness.
That's the bread and butter of the fitness industry, getting people to pay for a year and then never show up LMAO. The best is when they tell themselves that they never went because they didn't pay for a year of personal training in advance and return the next year and pay even more. It's amazing that people think they can strongarm themselves to do something they never wanted to do in the first place, even though they know they're purposely trying to force their own hand *facepalm. It's asinine.
@@poolfrog416 I’m an AVID gym goer but since Covid the gym Is really limited with no locker rooms open so I just work out at home and this will only take my workouts further, if I pay for it I’m definitely using it..
I just think the Apple watch is a lot less useful than people realize. When you've been working out long enough, you don't need to measure your heartbeat regularly because you already know the intensity level that you need to hit, you already know what time your workout starts and when it ends. This information isn't even all that useful for beginners either because beginners should start at very low intensity. A case could be made for those people who are learning to hit higher intensity workouts, but that being said, is it really worth the cost of an Apple watch just to measure your heartbeat? It's seems like a very expensive way of accomplishing something that people have accomplished with a cheap digital watch and putting their fingers to their neck to count their pulse. The value of the Apple fitness subscription is to take the watch information and put it on the screen.... Any other value can be had for free, from the countless workout video's available on RU-vid and elsewhere on the internet. It really boggles my mind how people see this as a valuable product when it's actually just a way to get you to buy a very expensive device and a relatively expensive subscription. It feels really close to exploitation. It's very transparent to me, I don't see why so many people fall for it.
I’m not a fan of it at the moment. You can’t change based on difficulty level. All the exercises seem kind of easy for me at least and I never workout.
Thank you for making this video, I live in an older condo building that has glass walls so to speak, and I like to workout in the evenings when everyone is trying to rest, so my fear with apple fitness is I’d be stomping around and disturbing my neighbors below me, it’s good to see it’s not like P90x for example where you’re going absolute bonkers working out, it’s more refined for lack of a better term, and that really fits my current lifestyle nicely. After watching this video I’m going to finally take a plunge into virtual workouts 😃
So when I turn on the apple fitness does all this fitness equipment appear in my home automatically? Cause all I'm seeing after buying this apple phone and TV is more stuff to buy...
@@GA-wq8xq Not as long as Apple keeps Airplay disabled for the fitness+ videos. Many people who were using Peloton won’t switch to Fitness+ now because of that.
Apple Fittness is the first time sport stick with me. Now three years after starting 20 minutes a day I really feel much healthier than ever before. Mostly I think it costs absolutly nothing to get you startet. pull out a matt and lets go. Apple Fitness might not be special in any way. It‘s just that I hated the gym everytime I tried it and now I can really look forward to a 45 minute yoga session on a friday after work or the 30 minute hiit sweat at the start of a new week.
Still can’t find the fitness app on the iPad App Store, Apple support wasn’t much help but looks like there’s a lot of ppl with same problem, anyone aware of a fix or anything ?
As someone who already had a pretty established fitness routine, I think the benefit would be the convenience. The fact that it just works with other Apple devices and that it has short workouts would help me squeeze in a few extra sessions throughout the week.
I realized after starting my trial today that many of these workouts require a borderline commercial gym. So far I think it’s not any better than any of the other fad online workout programs. Definitely not better than Beach Body. It seems like this program looks great in a commercial of “dream living” but not practical for anyone living in the real world. I’ll try a few workouts and report back.
I'll start using it as soon as I get my Apple TV installed in my workout room. Alas, the only equipment we have is an elliptical machines, as our knees weren't liking treadmills that much. I can only hope they add elliptical workouts at some point. Excellent video...thank you.
Many people are visual learners and need coaching, also wants to see their progress during workouts. The watch prerequisite is just to show the features the Apple watch has basically steps/movement count heart rate etc.
@@richdollars8337 While you can do the workouts without wearing an apple watch, you can’t sign up for fitness+ if you don’t own one because you won’t even have the Fitness app on your iphone or apple tv and you won’t be able to download it to your ipad.
I'm curious if there's a way on the Apple TV (or iPad) to allow for two users' data to show up and sync. i.e. if I want to workout with my spouse at the same time on the same workout.
As someone how's tries both.... There is no comparison. Apple's is a lot better for now. Samsungs is nice because it gives you your reps on the watch, but its VERY basic and it's more of a rep list than an actual class.
Impressive review, well done. As a journalist myself I know how difficult it can be to moderate a review while using the device. Which is even harder during an intense workout.
I am 18 and currently about to enter college. I have tried many things, from Chloe Ting core workouts to just walking in the morning, and while these things have worked on maintaining my weight, I wanted a healthy way to lose it. This helped a lot!
Personally, my family got the pack that had this included and I didn’t notice Fitness+ at first, but I can say that I’m so happy I gave it a shot. I walk 4+ miles a day and finish my day either with resistance training or HIIT with a book I follow. But there are days where I can’t walk, so I use Fitness+ to do their Yoga videos and I thoroughly enjoy them. I have only done the Yoga and Mindful Cooldown sections of this service, but I found both so useful for someone who needs a bit of motivation to work out. the instructors are friendly and I feel very motivated by them! I personally like Dustin and Jessica and I can’t wait to try out more modes of this service. It has helped me feel energized, which is why I wanted to work out in the first place. With weight loss, I definitely have seen improvement as well.
What fitness equipment a beginner or average consumer should have on had prior to app usage? What are some of the accessories used to prop the various Apple products?
i have just started a new treadmill 10mins (1st day) do i just repeat this all the time for 10 mins or is there a new 10 min treadmill daily so you dont get bored?
@@RohanThota What about it? You still save the metrics to your account. The only difference is that you don’t see your heart rate on screen. You can look at your watch or get a heart rate app to display on your phone or iPad.
@@vanessahandorellana thanks for your nice reply. I cannot fine the Fitness+ App in my App Store, my account is in Australia, do you have the same situation as me?
This will be great while waiting for my Tempo fitness system. I have JaxJox dumbbells, but following exercises on a tiny phone screen isn't ideal. I'll do this one instead. Thanks for sharing.
It looks tempting to get, my question is, does it include Apple Music, or is it a total independent and stand alone service? I don’t want Apple Music on my devices. Thanks
it’s independent. You can use fitness+ even if you’re not signed up for apple music. They make the music from the workouts available in Apple Music for those interested, but that’s just an added bonus.
So can I use on a MacBook? I don’t have an Apple TV? And would I have to connect the MacBook to my phone/watch because I have a different iCloud? Sorry but hopefully someone can answer lol
Great video. Really appreciate all the efforts you put in shooting and editing this elaborate intro..it gave a good idea about how to make best use of this service. 💯
Apple Fitness is just ok. The Cycling classes are fine but the strength classes are not robust. The core workouts are a bit slow. Les Mills are way better. I am going back to Les Mills after my trial runs out.
Hi 🙋🏾♀️ I workout for a hour, doing two different 30 min dance videos and my watch and the fitness app said I only worked out for 30 min . How can I troubleshoot this ?
How many rowing focused videos are there and how often will they be adding new ones to the library? Any options to track and compete with fellow Apple users - Like Strada? Can you talk more and show how it adapts and suggested different workouts based on your fitness goals and workout outcome. Thanks!
I’d say there’s about 10-15 rowing videos right now, but they’ll have a new one every week. No option to compete, just see where you land against others based on your HR.
Thank you for the review! Does it work over Airplay with an LG tv? And do you by any chance know if Apple plans to make it multiuser friendly? Cheers :)
@@vanessahandorellana But only if the apple tv is a 4th gen or 4k running tvOS 14.3 where you can install the actual fitness app. Airplay to older apple tv’s such as the 3rd gen (which is what I have) or earlier doesn’t work either (you get audio but not video on the tv). Como decimos en Mexico, ya ni modo.
i'm thinking seriously about subscribe the fitness+ by paying 10bucks OR just use the NTC as free. I spend 7days/1week at the house.. So i couldn't choose one between them. Apple's one is worth of 10dollar than FREE NTC?
