The only review that gets the point of the wallet. It is meant to be removed from the phone. I've been carrying a wallet and a phone separate all these years and never lost anything, now there's a wallet that sticks to the phone so when you think about it, is actually safer than what we've been doing forever. My concern is that I tend to carry more than 3 cards but I'll give it a chance. Plus, the California Poppy goes great with my 12 pro max pacific blue.
How many cards do you REALLY need though? Can the other cards like the insurance cards and cash sit in another wallet in your car’s glove box? I’ve found that my debit cards are almost untouched and even when I do need them I can use my iPhone wallet app for the debit card to withdraw or deposit anything.
@@SuprUsrStan Well, I carry 3 credit cards (including an apple card) and I rotate them, that way I keep my credit usage low across the board instead loading everything into one credit card. My driver’s license plus concealed carry ID, that’s 5 of what for me is essential.
@@SuprUsrStan you need atleast one card for identification and one to pay and for me since i am student i need a public transport card so you don’t really need alot but this does leave cards like healthcare/school/work/other pay cards out
Yep. I’m looking forward to having a small wallet in my other pocket. Attaching it when it’s more convenient to have one item. Restaurant table comes to mind instead of having them in my pockets poking me. I just need my local apple store to get the black wallet in stock lol.
Just be aware that the colored leather products age in a much more nasty way than a brown or black one would, the saddle brown also goes amazingly with the pacific blue iPhone. Just something to consider, not that you regret having bought the California poppy in some month when it starts looking nasty (had the product red leather case for my 8 Plus and it got quite ugly in a few months time)
I’ve been waiting for someone to cover these points on RU-vid but they all seem to go straight towards hating it. It’s a minimalist wallet, its very well made, and it’s the trend right now! This is what i’ve been wanting as an apple accessory for the longest. Great video, great product.
Finally, a review that highlights the fact that the wallet is supposed to be frequently taken on and off, and doesn't sensationalize the wallet detaching from the phone when purposely clipping it against your pocket.
Finally, someone with common sense! One should be conscious of their wallet and important belongings. It’s like any other wallet, but just has a little more benefit of attaching to your phone for easy carrying. When seeing it in store, I thought it was secure on the phone, whether in my hand, or in my pocket. So for me, there was no concern about it falling off.
Great vid but what happened to the Apple leather folios? The magnetic wallet idea is ok but don’t see a need for it. The folio was a great design but don’t see this product for the new iPhone 12’s.
This is the only positive youtube tech review of this accessory I've seen lol. Everyone is complaining about the wallet clipping their pocket and falling off or coming off in their pocket when they pull the phone out

I've got an XS Max and I ordered this wallet! In Covid times most shops in the UK won't even accept cash and most of my discount cards can now be used via apps. Been looking at RFID wallet to cut cash and bulk out my life but most of the ones I like are metal. I do have an iPhone 12 I'm deciding to keep or not (wife didn't like face id and I like the max screen size) but this wallet is safe to put into a pocket with a phone and I'm often carrying two phones now. I just think it's a good wallet! Magsafe is a bonus!
Fun fact - the wallet makes a dandy refrigerator magnet. Assuming you leave your house through the kitchen, easy to pop it on your phone as you’re leaving and put it back on the fridge as you arrive home.

I was skeptical but wanted something to replace the folio I used with my old phone. I only carry my driver’s license and debit card in case a store does not have ApplePay. I’m pretty much a minimalist compared to other girls. My other cards stay in my purse that I seldom carry outside of my house. I got the wallet and I love ♥️ the functionality. The magnet holds tight on my phone (gold 12 pro max with saddle brown MagSafe leather case)... and the gold phone with “saddle on saddle” looks premium to me. The cards only come out when I deliberately remove them and I no longer have to deal with an annoying folio flap. It’s perfect for me. 🤷🏽♀️ Please note: I do not “wear” a wallet in my pocket so I can’t speak to that.
That is actually not a bad idea as it lets you know when you attach it. Not sure if just recognises something is attached or it knows its the wallet. I have had it for about 3 weeks and hasn't fallen off even once.
It does this already, if in silent mode the phone will vibrate, if not in silent mode the phone will both vibrate and provide audio feedback that it’s been removed
I bought one also, and I have to say that at the beginning I was like a don't know if i like it, but now a view weeks later a love the wallet and I never wanna miss it
I like your perspective. It’s not supposed to be glued to your phone. Also, if you clip the edge putting it in your pocket obviously it’s going to come off.. ppl finding silly things to complain about
I think people missed the point in that the system is modular and/or they made assumptions having never used one. I've been using a wallet+phone case forever and I could see the benefit like when I go on a bike ride I can just keep the wallet in my car. Or when you get home you can just take the wallet off and toss it on the MagSafe charger. What excites me the most is the possibility of a MagSafe car mount, no more plugging in just throw it on the mount which would be not possible with my traditional wallet+phone case. Also most car mounts have clamp arms that extend out get in the way of usage while driving (I know I know).
This is perfect for future Minimalists I phone minis with snap on mini thin wallets it’s a futurist minimalistic minimalism. All seriousness I like the direction apple has been heading.
Great review, I’m Mexican and the reviews of the iPhone Wallet make me think of why at least in my country we must carry an ID because without an ID we can’t use any credit card, and in Mexico the only valid ID is one that is not our driver license, so, at least in my country we must carry at least one driver license and one ID... :/
Yes! This is what I have been thinking as well! People have to think more practical about this type of stuff! I know for me, I don't want my cards always on the back of my phone(I think it looks tacky even with this wallet). HOWEVER, I believe that this wallet is more ideal for separating into their own pockets and then coming together when you go out to eat(everyone usually lays their phone on the table) so your payment is ready and they're all in one place. I appreciate your more practical approach than just "it doesn't stick to it strong enough, I'm going to lose my cards" review. 😂
You make a good point everyone is missing and if they want a wallet case just get one. Nobody said this was supposed to be so strong it can’t come off and to expect that is ridiculous.
The wallet and iPhone 12 together kind of remind me of the feel of the original iPhone 3. Has that same kind of round “bar of soap” feel. I still have mixed feelings as there is a minimalist appeal to a thin slab phone, but really they’re quite comfortable to hold in your hand while you’re using the phone.
Nothings better than the card ninja on Amazon. I never lose my cards had this shit for years and ordered a bunch for future uses... it’s literally the best material especially after broken in. I don’t see the mag safe beating it.
Can you tell me because I may not be to tech savvy for a 70-year-old but I’m getting a iPhone 12 Pro Max and a set of AirPod pros for it but if I wanted to get that wallet and my debit card doesn’t have a chip it has a strip on the back with that magnet pull the information off of my strip?? So if it can detect when the wallet is attached, wouldn't it be good if it could make a sound or loud notification when the wallet detaches. I think I would then feel a bit more secure using it .

i agree with your review overall. Nice perspective to think about with this wallet. It's apple so of course it a little overpriced, but its quality made. If you were already thinking about getting or enjoy using minimalist wallets this seems like a good option. My only wish was that it held a few more cards. 4-5 would be much better, at least for me personally.
Why would you wanna hold 5 cards? One of 2 is just find and the rest can go to Apple Pay digital wallet. The point of Apple wallet is to carry less things and pushing people to go digital more. The places that doesn’t accept Apple Pay I avoid them and that would be there lost of business
Great review. I like how you sorta make us think how to use it i.e. stuck to phone or wallet in one pocket phone in the other. I’ve just bought mine (blue) last night. Day 1 today. 3 cards a lil tight I have to say, but hope to break in the leather soon. Otherwise it’s liberating to (finally) walk around without my other Bellroy wallet in my pocket. I was looking at the Moft too but wasn’t a fan abt how the cards would visibly stick out if we use it as a phone stand.
When you turn the wallet sideways it makes a great handle for holding the phone easier for those with larger phones (or smaller hands), you can use it as a mini steady when shooting video, and it has enough grip you can use it as a stand for putting your phone at an angle on most surfaces. Add one of those magnetic metal plates where the cards are stored and suddenly you have a universal MagSafe adapter for those magnetic docks too! 🙃

Plastic cards with the numbers protruding will actually end thicker then metal cards. Also they will likely mark your wallet if the numbers are facing the outside. Most banks are moving away from these thankfully.
Thank you for a very descriptive video that gives the wallet a second chance. I ordered the 12 Pro Max with the clear MagSafe case, and I’d just about ruled out buying a wallet with all the noise about it falling off the phone. But you’re right, you can’t treat it like it’s a part of the phone, you have to deliberately place it in a pocket or pocketbook, and if you do that it should fill it’s intended purpose. So, let me get back to the Apple Store site and get a wallet. Thank you!
This is a great review. The first review (and I’ve watched a lot) that thinks of the wallet more as a stand alone wallet that somethinf that NEEDS to be stuck on the back of your phone all the time
I am deciding, but I’m a little perplexed because like you I carry other important cards like medical cards, insurance card.. etc so, do you still carry the other cards in the other wallets and only have the MagSafe one for purchases? Thanks for your video and agree with your video.

Why carry the actual card? Doesn’t the Apple virtual wallet already do that for you? Plus it’s on your Apple Watch too... why do you need to carry a physical card?

I was hesitant because I usually use Apple Pay/Wallet and never carry cards around besides my DL but now I’m really thinking about this because some places don’t take Apple Pay and a physical card would be handy! Question though: would I be able to fold up dollar bills to put inside the wallet?
The Magwallet works great I don’t know why people make RU-vid videos complaining about this product when I look at the people complaining about this product they look uneducated They got understand that the Mag wallet is meant to come off The concept of the Magwallet is the come off your phone and use it as a wallet separately to at the same time I see these RU-vid videos of people forcing the phone in the pocket sleeve and that’s not how are usually put a phone in your pocket if you do you’re really weird I’ve never seen nobody put items in there pocket and forcefully wedging it on the pockets sleeve That’s weird that’s not normal that suspect
Excellent review and I admit to being tempted. But then I why would I want a wallet that attaches to my phone. In order to take anything out of it I would have to take the phone out of my pocket, take the wallet off the phone, and put the phone down or back in my pocket as I would need two hands to remove a card. If it weren’t attached to the phone, I just pull the wallet/a wallet out of my pocket? Also, when I am not using a wallet - which is 99.99% of the time during the day, why would I want to have it stuck to the back of my phone - which I use constantly throughout the day? I’m curious if you find yourself asking the same questions as the novelty wears off a bit?
That's a fair question. Sometimes when I'm at home I have the wallet removed so the phone is lighter to use. I treat the apple wallet as if it were a regular wallet so sits on the table where I used to keep my wallet. As I said, I like the combo because its so easy to clip it or take it off. When I'm heading out of the house, I clip it on and into the pocket it goes.
With credit cards that have protruding numbers do the numbers indent on the side of the wallet? I have this problem with all of my other wallets if I stick cards with the older design on the bottom pocket.
6:38 I'm sorry but if I were to treat it as a separate wallet as opposed to an accessory to the phone then I would much rather have your original wallet. The whole point of this product is to stay with the phone. If the use-case requires users to tolerate the unintended/accidental separation then why even have the magnets at all. This product essentially discourages users from using it like it's advertised.
